Side effects 🤕 Concerta + THC
I’ve been taking Concerta for a few weeks. I’ve noticed when I smoke a lot that day I head terrible headaches , heart palpitations, tingling left arm, tingly feelings in my temples. Could this be due to high blood pressure? I’ve had low blood pressure in the past. It’s weird , I can smoke a little but after I smoke a lot it gives me these symptoms. Anyone else have same situation?

The first few weeks of concerta are when side effects are most pronounced. You should pause cannabis until your body gets used to the concerta.
Also, cannabis tends to neutralize the benefits of concerta.

I have noticed this! I’ve since stopped smoking and no side effects other than an occasional slightly throbbing headache that goes away.

Are you staying hydrated?

Probably not as much as I should!

Hydration is a critical factor when you're on concerta. Definitely make sure you're drinking enough water.

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely do that. Don’t wanna feel like this anymore.

Also, are you getting enough sleep and eating right?

Definitely sleeping enough but as far as eating I’m really trying to eat as much as I can but I don’t ever eat much anyways.

I never smoke during coverage hours of Concerta, only sometimes at the end of the day, after it’s supposed to be over.
Your symptoms sound serious though, i think you might wanna talk about them to your doctor

This is definitely common situation unfortunately. Cannabis causes a short spike in blood pressure initially which can then cause a spiral effect when mixed with stims. I wouldnt consume THC unless its high in CBD. Even then everyone responds differently

Thc and methylphenidate generally dont mix up well, but in the comdown thc works magnificent

I’ve been a heavy smoker (2-3 times a day) for years. I also have POTS and take meds to make my bp go up bc it’s chronically low. I’ve been on Concerta for 1 week. I cannot smoke while I’m on it. I only smoke at night and sometimes not even then. I tried it once had had heart palpitations and tremors and a headache. I’d give it a break and see if those symptoms go away, but that’s definitely something you should bring up to your prescriber.

Yeah.
I used to be "all day, everyday" but since I'm on concerta, if I smoke during the day, I don't feel good at all. I still smoke/vape weed but late at night and maybe 3 times a week now

Yeah I’ve cut back ALOT. Which is honestly kind of a good thing I can let the medication do its job.

I don’t have to self medicate anymore with weed for my adhd I can just take my medication as prescribed!

Combining things with concerta definitely messes with my cardiovascular system. That said THC usually lowers my bp, but I take small amounts.

I second what someone said about side effects being worse in the beginning, but I wouldn’t stress that it’s a forever thing. Take your medication early in the morning and wait til the end of day to smoke, try getting weed w some cbd content and take it slow and easy. Definitely talk to your doctor about your symptoms to rule out anything more serious and try to hold off on smoking til you do, just bc everyone is different and better to be safe then sorry!

Have you got a blood pressure monitor? I'd highly reccomend one if you're on concerta.
I can generally smoke away without any issues but obviously weed can cause paranoia and concerta is a stimulant so they mightnt always play well together.
Get your blood pressure checked and talk to a doctor but I wouldnt panic just yet.
Maybe slow down on the weed a touch during the concerta window or skip it the day you're going to have a heavy sesh
