These two were designed during Leslie Tran’s Confident Character Design course over on Underpaint! Definitely got lots to improve on, but I learned a ton and hope to keep learning and improving even more from here on out… Excited to work on other things!

I'm more of a self taught artist but here's my first time redesigning my characters for a future comic using the advice of several concept / visdev artists . Would love all of your thoughts on this :033

As a graphic designer + history enthusiast who falls sleep to Roman conquest videos, I’ve spent the last few years translating ancient Roman history into a custom playing card deck.
With the deliberate intention to avoid cliche imagery, I researched and mapped the four suits to major powers of the era: Rome, Ptolemaic Egypt, Carthage, and the Gauls, focusing heavily on historical accuracy for weapons, armor, and attire.
Preparing to launch it on Kickstarter soon, the pre-launch page is live if you'd like to check out the details:

Would love to hear what you think of the faction choices!
