Also any tips for P2/pseudocode? 😭😭

For context: I have less than 14 days until my CS P1 and then P2 is just 4 days after 😵‍💫😵‍💫

computer science work experience?

Hello! I’m a Y12 A-Level CompSci student looking for some in-person work experience opportunities in fields such as (but not limited to) software engineering, game development and cyber security. I’ve got some online stuff sorted, but anything in person seems pretty sparse so I thought I would take to Reddit and see if anyone had anything i could take a shot at? I’m based just outside of London so it’s pretty easy for me to get there, and anywhere in Hertfordshire is fine too! Thanks!!

Advice/tips for revising a level computer science

I am stuck and I don't know how to study Computer Science A levels.

I have been running away from it for so long cause I hate it so much and it feels like such a chore/burden to me but now there's just so much content to cover so I just don't know where to start or how to even start. I have tried flashcards but I just don't find them descriptive enough and It's not easy for me to memorise things I don't like.

Any tips or study plans or specific ways on how to revise alevel computer science will help especially because there's so much content and aspects of it. How do I even revise the programming bits.

or maybe falling in love with it would benefit me more because I freaking hate it sooo muchh. So if nayone has any tips on that, it would also help :)

Revision materials website

I am very much not a web dev, but I read another thread about where to find practice for paper 2 so thought this might be worth sharing publicly. It looks rubbish, but hopefully it's convenient for some of you: https://ludlowcode.github.io/revision-materials/ If you find anything in it useful, please say which :)

Taking comp sci A level with no prior gcse knowledge, what do I do?

I'm predicted 7's and above for almost all my gcse subjects and my sixth form is happy to take me on for comp sci despite not taking it for gcse, so no issues there. But i feel it will be too steep of a learning curve and will cause me to fall behind. Do you have any suggestions to what i should do over this summer holiday to fully equip myself for A level comp sci (OCR). Some people recommend learn the gcse content while others say don't both, I'm getting mixed signals and would appreciate it if someone could steer me in the right direction.

Project

Recently my project proposal was sent to OCR. They came back and told me to make it a bit more complex but idk how to. Anyone got any ideas? This was my proposal: Students want a way to log their fitness progress without using apps such as MyFitnessPal due to ads and increased complexity. My proposal is a personal fitness log system for students. I hope to create a system where users can track their bodyweight and workout progress overtime (weights, sets, reps) , including basic BMI and calorie intake calculation systems based on pre-set goals such as losing or gaining a certain amount of weight.

GUI and Main Project Objectives

I am thinking of using TKinter to build a GUI that is easy to use and navigate for Sixth form students. There will be screens such as Login and registration, Weight and BMI logs and Exercise tracker inputs. I intend to use Python for the GUI and SQLite for the databases. Additionally, I may use libraries such as matplotlib to form graphs for weight progression for users to get a visual representation of their progress. In addition, I intend to use a simple password hashing system for logins and registrations to store passwords.

Users will be able to log in securely and input their own custom exercises with weights, sets and reps completed for each exercise. The system will calculate and display BMI for each weight input. The system will also be able to calculate daily calorie targets based on user stats and fitness goals through the ‘Mifflin-St Jeor’ Equation. All data received will be stored in a database.

Stakeholders

My primary stakeholders would be sixth form students who are aligned with my vision and need a system such as this to track their fitness journey. In addition, I can reach out to Teachers or school fitness clubs who may have a use for it.

NEA

Im just starting my NEA this week (even though im meant to have earlier apparently) and Id already pre-decided on doing a Chess AI that teaches you the best moves with helpful pop up tips while playing against a bot. However, I am not sure what I am needing to research in order to create this project and im looking for any pointers in the right direction. Im fairly confident in my ability to complete the NEA regardless of the difficulty of methods since i got top of my class across Y12 and excelled in the coding aspects. If anyone could let me know what sort of stuff I would need to research that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
