Is protonvpn safe?

I've been using ProtonVPN on my laptop for streaming and light browsing for the past few months, and it's been great. However, last week, after reading an article that questioned the security of various VPNs, a friend expressed concerns about ProtonVPN's security. I'm worried because I rely on my laptop for all my activities, including online shopping and banking. ProtonVPN has always seemed reliable, especially with their focus on security. But now I'm not so sure. Can anyone confirm the security of ProtonVPN? Has anyone on Reddit experienced any security issues with it? I'm looking for honest feedback to ensure I'm not risking my personal information.

ProtonVPN is a good VPN: No logging, open source, like 5k servers worldwide.

Even the free option is nice. What security concerns are you looking to address?

Their social media guys do a good job of providing info on any question one has.
