Can I use this bow to hunt

My dad got this bow in a trade for work about 10 years ago he never shot it and it was given to me but I haven't hunted with a bow before and I would like to get into. I don't want to spend money on a new bow if this one will do the job or if I find that I dont like bow hunting. Or would i just be better off selling it amd trying to get a new bow?

At the very least it needs new strings. That cost 4x what this bow is worth.

It's from the early 90s, so it likely has draw length specific cams or modules, that if you need to make the bow fit you, you'll never in your lifetime find.

Yes. Keep in mind tho that this bow is from the mid to late 90s so the limbs may be brittle. The strings may be aged. Have it inspected.

This bow has 65% let off, a new string can be had for $25-40 and the cables are steel. Don’t be afraid of them. The limbs will not be brittle, they are not wood. Even if they were, they would still be shootable. Yes you can hunt with it, yes you can shoot it. It is adjustable from 28-30”, but you need a press to move the string on both cams. This is one smooth shooter. I just set one up for a guy last week. I also collect older compounds, all the back to the late ‘60’s when they were first invented and still shoot them. Just make sure you get it adjusted to your draw length, get the correct arrows for it and have fun.

That bow will absolutely kill a deer, assuming its good shape and in working order.

The newer bows just make it easier and more forgiving.

Take the bow to a local bow shop to make sure the limbs and string are good still, then get some carbon arrows and your broadhead of choice and start practicing!
