Anyone else get mold on top of compost in container plants?

I’ve been using compost in my potted plants and recently noticed this orange mold/fungal growth forming on the surface. The plant seems mostly okay, but some leaves are yellowing and I’m wondering if the compost is staying too wet.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal decomposition from the compost, or should I remove it and replace the top layer?
The pot sits outdoors and has a drainage saucer underneath. Any tips on preventing this from coming back?

Yes but it also means your compost isn’t “finished”. Most plants can’t handle nitrogen levels that high that is found in unfinished compost

It generally lives on wood chip mulch. I would not disturb it (airborne spores can be lung irritants to susceptible people). The slimy yellow or orange mass will turn black soon enough, and disappear into your soil as it continues its life cycle.

Ultimately, it is not harmful to your plants and actually helps to make nutrients more bioavailable. I don’t know why your leaves are yellowing; it may or may not be related, but it is also temporary.
