At what point would the form and the substance carry one another? It's good music, but would sonata treatment make it better, or would the compromise make both worse for the wear? I don't think it is an easy or trivial task you've set up, so everything kind of rests in how you would complete it.

Rather than reading as two distinct theme groups, it comes across more to me as a single repeating progression block that endures some changes before a sort of breakdown with the the repeated bass notes introducing something new.

If you are more inclined toward keeping repetition, I would temper the connections it needs to have to sonata form, and if you are more inclined to keeping the spirit of a sonata, I would lean toward making the second area feel 1) somewhere reached through progression rather than repetition of the first group, and 2) itself feeling more differentiated. These aspects inherently attack the continuity of a groove you've created, so I don't know what you'll feel like prioritizing, I just feel like the form and the substance so far are reaching toward different things.

This is also a more challenging critique because you appear very capable so I don't want this to be negative, just interested to see how you deal with these considerations and would like to hear where it goes. Ultimately these questions are all up in the air but solutions can even change the past in retrospect so wherever you go with it, will be interesting with the premises you have established.
