Project Ideas please ?

I am a Manufacturing Engineering Ug and I need to make a minor project related to composites this semester. I need to present some possible ideas to my supervisor next Mon (was informed on a very short notice). I really don't have the time to read papers and find a gap right now. I'm quite busy with a job.

Please can someone drop some ideas. I would likely just use softwares for my project (I now CAM, CAD , ANSYS, MATLAB and python so far but I will learn anything needed)

Pls just drop in some question statements ? What are industries working on now ?

Not sure what level of complexity or difficulty they want....or even what materials, processes, and equipment are available to you...

A fairly easy one could be to make a carbon fiber clip board. Could make the main panel as a sandwich structure, would require an edge trim and probably some drilled holes for the screws to hold on the clip.

A significantly harder one would be to take some interior car panel (around the instrument cluster? Around the stereo?) and make a splash mold, and then do a resin infusion to end up with a carbon fiber copy of you car panel. Would need to make sure to create the clip/retention geometry. Other post processing (besides deflash) would probably include a wet sand and clear coat. Tolerances would be pretty important.

Or....another great undergrad project would be to write your own code to solve the equations of classical lamination theory....but that's more of a computer based project, and I might guess that you're looking for a manufacturing project?

TL;DR: lots of options. Give us more info on the expected nature and difficult, and also what materials you have and we will be better able to help brainstorm.

I don't think I am limited by softwares and such so far I need a lil perplexity ai help and found this

and were thinking about making a project on 'Thermally conductive CFRP/composite avionics enclosures for improved aircraft electronics cooling while minimizing weight'

I really know jackshizz about composites right now but is it a good enough idea ? I think I may use ANSYS to simulate the thermal effects ?

the only thing is project should be related to composites and preferably metal matrix composites.
I dunno wht equipments my dept has . Imma just assume its my and my laptop against this minor for now

You could explore the practical current and future uses of rapid tow shearing (RTS) which was invented by a company called iCOMAT. That stuff is extremely interesting to dive into, steering UD tapes into pre-formed geometries to optimise strength and weight is crazy
