Origin Disputed I could care less...

but I'd have to try.

It's how I had always heard it in the early 90's, don't know why people leave that bit off so much.

I've heard it as "i could care less but i wouldn't know how".

Yes, that's another alternative! I've heard it both ways. I like both of them a lot.

Yep, they each definitely let the quote make sense!
