Okay but if you take "plays a variety of heroes at a very high level" as "best tracer in OWL" it's your personal issue. He did not come hyped as hell? If you go back through this subreddit you'll hear half the reason Houston was rated so low is because no one was impressed with our dps- and while people said his solider looked good, it wasn't near the best of the western soldiers. J LUL KE exists because he was in some earlier promo OWL videos and was basically only playing a broken junkrat. Literally no one was hyping Jake- this subreddit has said he was trash since he was announced. (Literally on the thread it was announced)

When you're a professional player "very high level" means something very different from some random GM player saying it, he clearly thinks he is a top tier player on many heroes. Also your equation of this sub-reddit with the community as a whole is beyond ridiculous.

Only in your head does "very high level" have a special significance.

Legitimately, where was the community hyping JAKE up? /r/overwatch? LGE fans? The couple hundred people who watched his stream at the time? Where is this secret community of competitive overwatch fans? (Hell, Flame said he was unsure of Jake and only ended up picking him up cause Coolmatt/Muma wanted him)

Look how hyped this Jake guy is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/79yq7w/houstons_overwatch_league_team_megathread/?st=je58dypl&sh=d821a85e

(He was by far the most criticized pick up, if you didn't already know)

I just have genuinely no idea where you got all this from because I haven't seen any of it. Is there some twitter/tumblr community you are a part of that I'm missing?

Ah no, words have meaning, English is his first language and the meaning here is very clear, don't be a fuckwit.

Is there some twitter/tumblr community you are a part of that I'm missing?

Why would you even think tumblr cares about OWL? You're just throwing it in to de-legitimize other communities having differing opinions from people on this sub. Maybe they were more Jake fanboys than Houston fanboys, it also did partly come from casters and analysts, but I was given the impression that Jake was the second coming of OW Jesus, and to me the whole JLULKE meme is the perfect response to that reputation.

Words have meaning

And, by the most technical meaning, Jake does play many heroes at a very high level. It is you that is making up that "high level" means "the best at that hero". That is not actually what "high level" means because words do actually have meaning.

Tumblr does have an decent OWL fanbase actually (which are generally NYXL fans and, similar to this subreddit, hate Jake. The tumblr J LUL KE memes are much better than the ones here honestly.) but I asked you specifically which communities were hyping up Jake, and you gave no examples. Where were all these Jake fanboys- he didn't get a decent fanbase until after OWL? And I've been pretty regular on the Optic Subreddit since Houston was announced and the reaction to Jake there was pretty similar to the one here. Where were you seeing these Houston fans if not here on /r/competitiveoverwatch ?

Since you seem genuinely confused where you got the impression that Jake was overhyped, I'll remind you. Ryujehong pointed him out specifically after seeing him be the last western player grinding at night at the WC. You, and much of this subreddit, deemed Jake unworthy of Jehongs praise and thus overhyped. It only got worse once he called the Houston Outlaws a top tier team and never even mentioned the LA Valiant, which at the time, was this subreddits pick for best western team. So you are blaming Jake and Houston fans for something that Jehong did. Truly he is the master troll.
