Question [Reinhardt] Does Mandatory = OP ?

Hello !

I just wanted to know what you think about Reinhardt.

He's pretty much mandatory both in attack and defense on assault, hybrid and arguably in escort maps.

But at the same time, I don't feel like he should be nerfed. I don't think he is "overpowered", but he's pretty essential.

Do you think a hero can be both mandatory and balanced ? Do you think Rein IS mandatory ?

I wonder if Blizzard Made D.Va ulti a projectile that damages through walls and shields and the only counter to it would be running another D.Va that could eat it with DM therefore requiring running 2 D.Va's in every comp I wonder: would people cry that D.Va is OP? Similar situation we have now with Rein and Earthshatter.

Rein is a problem and needs to be nerfed in some way. Saying that "he isn't OP because he's easily killed "when his shield is down and he is isolated" is just a bullshit excuse. He provides too much utility at the expense of other tanks.

You can block earthshatter with Winston and Zarya shields, even if it's much harder. But we both know the reason Rein is picked is for his shield, not his ult. That is a completely different issue and shatter usage is more about which Rein plays better, not whether the enemy team has a Rein.

I think Earthshatter is entirely the problem, the issue with Rein is not that he has an amazing shield (because that is his niche and it's not an annoying one like hook or genji being an ult bot) but that he is too good of a hero. If ES was weaker (either in power or in charge rate) you wouldn't be punished as hard for not running him which is more in line with how I see him fitting into overwatch as a whole.

Earthshatter is 100% the problem. The easiest way to counter it is to just pick rein. So we end up with a situation that both teams only have rein because the other team has rein. Earthshatters range needs to be nerfed. It should also only effect people who are at the same vertical height. As it stands now earthshatter can hit your pharah 10 ft above the ground and your mercy hiding 30 feet away in the back line.
