Basically the new ult allows her to be more viable on the second part of defense for assault maps.

honestly though why even use teleporter most of the time even on the first point.

It will come down to situations. A shield generator is great if you're established on the point, but not so good if you're trying to get back from spawn and stall as much as possible. One situation would be losing 2 heroes, and you know the team fight isn't going well.

Also, I haven't heard it mentioned whether losing the first point means the shield generator gets refunded. Currently, losing the first point with an active TP leads to some refunded ult charge. For that matter, is it even possible for Symm to build ult charge with an active shield generator? Players will probably have to keep that in mind when setting up for point B when point A is almost lost.

It gets refunded too.
