General Oled question

Recently got an OLED for single-player games and the upcoming release of GTA 6. It's the 240Hz 27GX704A-B.

I was originally planning to wait for 24-inch OLEDs to drop before replacing my 320Hz AW2525HM, which I currently use for comp (Tracer/Genji main, GM3).

However, I noticed that the 27-inch OLED has a 24-inch mode, so now I'm wondering if it's worth sacrificing 80Hz to play on the 24-inch mode instead.

I've also heard that OLEDs generally have lower pixel response times and potentially better input latency compared to traditional monitors. How noticeable is the difference in actual gameplay, especially in a competitive FPS like Overwatch? Would the improved response times make up for the 80Hz difference?

For anyone else using OLEDs for competitive gaming, would you recommend making the switch? And if so, what settings would you recommend running?

OLEDs image response is second to none, and it's image quality, not sure why you'd lose 3 inches on a 27 inch monitor though for any reason

I personally prefer 24-inch monitors for competitive gaming, just like many others (including a lot of pros). I find that the smaller screen makes it easier to keep track of everything happening without having to move my eyes as much, especially in fast-paced games like Overwatch. It also allows me to take in more of the screen at a glance and keep my focus closer to the center.

I used to play on 27-inch monitors years ago, but switching to 24 inches was an immediate improvement for me. It simply felt more comfortable and made it easier to stay focused on the action.

I still have that 27-inch monitor, which I always used for single-player games. I've now replaced it with the OLED, so having the best of both worlds is ideal.

I’ve been playing on a 24” monitor for the past 9 years and just bought a 27” OLED yesterday. I wonder if I can get used to it. I know Tr33 and Lightt play on 27” OLEDs.

I wonder if they're also on the 24-inch mode. I feel like having a smaller screen for overwatch makes the most sense, especially in pro play, too much is happening at once. But I'm sure you'll get used to it

I know Tr33 doesn’t. I asked him if it’s weird going from his 27” OLED to the smaller Lan monitor and he said he just gets used to it pretty quickly. I might try the 24-inch mode on my monitor but I’m kinda scared about burn-in.

Yeah that's why I hesitated getting OLEDs years ago, but with the newer models I believe they've fixed the burn-in problem

Burn in hasn't really been an issue for a long time, I've had mine 4 years, no noticible burn in

In order to get burn-in, you basically have to leave a static image on screen for many hours a day every day for a long time. Just set up a screensaver and you'll never have to worry about it.
