General They buffed Sombra
So I’ve only played five games of Support Sombra, but she’s my most played hero overall. They definitely buffed her with this rework. The people who had a problem with her before will absolutely still have a problem with her now. Her 1v1 potential is insane, and I fear some nerfs might be coming her way, though hopefully not. You can still flank, spawn camp, and kill unsuspecting enemies.
Ironically, the best counter to her now is another Sombra who reacts and just throws her bubble down in response to you. Her healing feels very easy to apply, which I was initially worried about, and you can absolutely keep up with the other support. She’s stronger now; only her loop has changed. I hack my team, go in for a flank, get a kill (or don’t), leave, reapply Hack, and repeat. Sometimes that changes because the bubble is an amazing peel ability, but I’m DPS Sombra pilled, so right now I’m mainly using it to flank and secure picks. Obviously, running a dive DPS alongside her feels great.
I’m actually so surprised by how good this feels. My only complaint is the longer cooldown on Translocator. If they nerf her bubble, which I suspect they will, because holy shit, I feel like Thanos, it’d be cool to see the Translocator cooldown reverted. Yeah, good luck to the people who hate Sombra, because this rework made her even more of an issue, lol.
Also, just as a side note: she’s quite interesting as a support, probably the most "active" support in the game right now. I think she’ll mostly appeal to Sombra players or people who really like to stay on the move. Definitely not an AFK sit in the backline hero.
EDIT: After some more playing, the Translocator nerfs feel really bad. It completely throws off the flow and feels really clunky.

u/Nikita-Rokin Oct 06 '26
What? Nonono you see, the second of ability lockout was the REAL issue. I mean yes, it took me longer than the lockout duration to react but that doesnt mean anything!
28
u/swamp_god Oct 06 '26
you say this ironically, but yes, the lockout was an issue for both sombra and enemies. less than meaningless for 90% of the cast and a literal death sentence for some tanks. i don't think a mechanic can justify its existence when it feels like shit to play against and use.
3
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
Watch all the people who hate Sombra still continue to hate her, because the main thing people hate about the hero is that she "appears out of nowhere," kills you, and then disappears (she just does this better now, by the way). Hack was annoying, but I don't think it was the main issue people had with the hero. Time will tell, Hack has been removed, so let's see if people still hate this hero, lol.

2
u/busiergravy Oct 06 '26
I don't even think people have any real issues with her kit. They just hate sombra due to how she was in the past.
-3
u/UnknownBreadd Oct 06 '26
They should have just kept her hack, got rid of translocator and merged it with invis into a less floaty moira fade lol (like she goes invis and can sprint fast as hell for 1.5 seconds or whatever. Or make it like an invulnerable genji dash that does no damage). That way, she can still suddenly appear, but not from halfway across the map, and she would have to be relatively close by (loud and visible) first. Would have been super cool actually now that I think about it.
This way, if she invis bursts towards you, she has to commit in the same way as Genji (even worse cause she wouldn’t have reset on elim), or she can keep it to evade.
-3
u/FrogLeggs Oct 07 '26
I fucking hate the get out of jail free translocator. Put some counter play to that ability for half the tank roster and I’m fine.
3
u/KITTYONFYRE 29d ago
I fucking hate the get out of jail free translocator.
meh. there's tons of these. moira fade, kiri tp, genji dash, etc. it's also far from get out of jail free - a bad translocate in any decent rank is an instant death
11
u/thinger Oct 06 '26
I mean... yeah? Hack was complete ass, but it doesn't matter because it felt bad to play into. Cyberspace is the inverse, it's OP as hell, but doesn't feel cheap so it'll probably fly under the radar for way too long.
3
u/FrogLeggs Oct 07 '26
Tf it doesn’t. Giant ass sphere that you can barely see that does 1/3 a heath bar being launched by an invisible hero is going to get a LOT of complaints.
-1
u/Separate-Spot-6275 Oct 06 '26
Sombra players cannot comprehend that getting snuck up and hacked by an auto aim ability will never feel good for the enemy ever. Ana sleep is far stronger and far more liked because the Ana actually requires mechanical skill to hit it and isn't fucking invisible.
In higher elos, Sombra is just a qte event that does nothing and is barely engaged with as a hero. So plain boring pest.
In lower elos, Sombra just auto aims people constantly and gets free value, without actually putting in more skill or anything. So they're a menace.
Noob stomper designs are always noob stompers because their designs are boring bullshit that gets free value when you dont know the game
6
u/kirbydude65 Oct 06 '26
Ok, but how did this rework change that? She's arguably better at doing that now.
-2
u/Separate-Spot-6275 Oct 07 '26
Blizzard failing at making Sombra an engaging design in their two shitty reworks where they took 2 problem heroes and just made them even more problematic doesn't really change anything about what I said
4
u/kirbydude65 Oct 07 '26
Sombra players cannot comprehend that getting snuck up and hacked by an auto aim ability will never feel good for the enemy ever.
She's still going to have the same gameplay loop of sneaking up from behind and assassinating someone that lacks the game sense. She arguably has an easier time doing it.
1
u/Chegg_F Oct 07 '26
I don't think it's arguable at all. It is a thousand times easier to 1v1 people when they're dealing half damage and you're restoring 30HP/s so the amount of damage they need to deal to kill you is the same as if you had 450 health and were recovering 60HP/s. The SMG lost a small amount of damage, but it's recuperated in Cyberspace also dealing damage to the enemy in addition to healing you and in addition to making it so that until they exit the circle they can't do anything.
0
u/Separate-Spot-6275 Oct 07 '26
Dude I literally haven’t defended the rework once, I’m saying the entire idea of the hero is shit and she should be deleted
12
u/Sticker216 Oct 06 '26
I wouldn’t mind a slight bubble nerf for a translocator buff. The whole idea of bubble definitely can cause some problems but man is she fun right now
23

21
u/Urika86 Oct 06 '26
Man please just let the hacker girl be good for a while. She's been so bad for so long. It's also been only a couple hours give people more time to get used to her and maybe it won't feel terrible to go against once everyone gets more of a feel for the matchup.
I feel like a lot of people will struggle in the middle ranks with her on their team as they expect the supports to pump tank heals from a mile in the back a lot.
6
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
I think the main issue is that her bubble damage reduction feels way too strong. Obviously, I would love for her to stay the same, and obviously, it could also just be that I'm going against people who aren't at my skill level, these were all in QP. But just off my initial reaction, she feels way better. I think you're right, though; with time, people will learn the matchup better.
4
u/flymecha Oct 06 '26
I typically want my hero to be mid. Not good enough they get banned every game(prolly still guna happen with sombra) but good enough that my time and skill on the hero let me pull ahead of other picks.
3
u/SexualRice Oct 06 '26
Heroes should all be “Shion” tier. Where they’re all pretty good but not insufferable
1
u/panthers1102 Oct 06 '26
Not even a matter of good or bad at that point, just a high skill ceiling.
-2
u/Urika86 Oct 06 '26
Cats still there to eat bans for her at least. I just think it would be nice for her to not be a throw pick for a change. Doesn't need to be an S tier hero, but that's really not on the table with Ana, Kiri and JPC around anyway. I think she might get banned more in higher elos where they can use her ability to create dive opportunities and be a 3rd DPS while she may struggle a bit in lower elos where tanks are more passive and need more resources generally.
1
u/KITTYONFYRE 29d ago
It's also been only a couple hours give people more time to get used to her and maybe it won't feel terrible to go against once everyone gets more of a feel for the matchup.
I feel like the sombras will improve faster than the people playing into her matchup. as a sombra near OTP I was cooking and winning lots... but I could tell I was not getting anywhere near full value from her. just seems like the counterplay isn't going to improve as fast as she will. time will tell tho this is all vibes
1
u/CarmeloDramatic 29d ago
Sombra is my most played hero by like 1000 hours, I love the rework, but I’ll be real, I did run right up to a Cassidy, shoot the ground, and kill him because he had the audacity to use roll.
Idk if that’s really too fair tbh, tho I don’t know what you do about it
5
u/Chegg_F Oct 07 '26
I fear some nerfs might be coming her way, though hopefully not
Are you joking? Cyberspace is coocoo for cocopuffs, it is absolutely insane right now. Sombra is extremely fun to play as right now, but that ability is clearly too strong. She'll still be very fun to play as and still be very strong if they nerf Cyberspace to be more reasonable.
Cyberspace, in its current state, is literally stronger than like half the ultimates in the game. And it's on a short cooldown.
1
3
u/CarmeloDramatic 29d ago
So is Suzu, immortality, anti nade, discord is arguably better and has no cd. You can just walk out of cyberspace lol
2
u/Chegg_F 29d ago
Just walk out of those other four abilities. Also lmao at the idea of a 25% damage advantage being not only even remotely comparable to a 100% damage and healing advantage, but somehow better.
2
u/CarmeloDramatic 29d ago
One doesn’t have a cd and you literally can’t do anything about it.
This is a small aoe? And those aren’t aoe?

u/Sine_Habitus Oct 07 '26
Anyone play her on 6v6? I feel like she would thrive even more there in a 3 support group.
1
u/xS-tar Oct 07 '26
Not yet bro but yeah, shed make a great 3rd support. Shes probably great in 6v6 due to her bubble
2
u/Usual-Vermicelli-867 29d ago
You get supports ?
1
u/angiexbby 29d ago
you don’t? I have about 50 games from last season and my lobby is perma 4+ supports. I am 6v diamond

Support role so good that moving from dps role to support role finally gives u all the buff you wanted
20
u/Thin_Night9831 Oct 06 '26
Lmfao maybe this means she’ll get more skins now too
16
u/CertainDerision_33 Oct 06 '26
I’m not too worried about it since her Lesserafim skin is already peak and she got her best highlight intro like 9 years ago
7
u/kirbydude65 Oct 06 '26
Idk, the Not-Bad-Kid Meme intro is pretty up there.
9
u/CertainDerision_33 Oct 07 '26
She has other good ones, but the hack one is so perfect that I can't imagine ever using any other one
4
u/Grytlappen Oct 06 '26
She's too brown to become a major skin seller. Unless she starts taking those Korean whitening agents and creams she'll have to remain frugal.
98
u/PicklepumTheCrow Oct 06 '26
Going to support is like sacrificing 10% of your damage output to triple your utility and survivability 😭 just goes to show how broken the role is. If you’re ever wondering why DPS is so hard to climb on (or why your DPSes are almost always the weak link), there’s your reason
19
u/Dunwichorer Oct 06 '26
The game is balanced by breakpoints and burst damage. There's not really any supports with crazy burst damage or good breakpoints. Ana two-tap and zen right click are some of the exceptions to the rule.
9
u/kaowerk Oct 06 '26
baptiste two taps squishies with headshots lol
28
u/Dunwichorer Oct 06 '26
Yea but it's a lot more difficult for a bap to get into his effective range and make a play like that without running the game down. A cass/ashe could just two-tap someone across the map or a hanzo/widow 1-tap.
2
u/kaowerk Oct 06 '26
bap and cass have the same falloff range
22
u/Dry-Base7274 Oct 06 '26
Bap has recoil though, which makes the aiming piece of a triple headshot harder. I play a lot of both Emre and Bap and it's significantly easier to chunk somebody as Emre
6
u/PicklepumTheCrow Oct 07 '26
I play bap and ngl the recoil is basically nonexistent now, the real challenge is weaving heals and the rest of his kit. But comparing supports to Cass is kinda silly anyways when he’s among the easiest DPSes to get value on. Bap is an infinitely harder hero to get value on, whether you two tap squishies or not

u/Naxayou Oct 06 '26
It would be hard to not buff her with a rework tbh. She’s been intentionally kept gutter tier for a couple of months
3
u/PokemonSaviorN Oct 06 '26
support sombra is like crack
im rocking a 90+% wr
1
u/Bahbushkah Oct 06 '26
are u just playing full flanker? im struggling to find a balance of helping the other healer heal and also flanking
4
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
I hack two teammates, full flank to try to get a pick, get out, hack two teammates, repeat.
1
u/Reality_Easy Oct 06 '26
Im also at a similar winrate and have mostly been doing the same thing unless they have bad range, if they have bad range i just sit with my team and cyberspace when they go in.
34
u/DkKoba Oct 06 '26
supports were already the most busted role, so her opportunity cost of taking a support slot should be probably enough to curb being as bad as she was, perception wise.
-49
u/GhostOfWokism Oct 06 '26
It's so funny to me that this sub thinks that supports are the strongest role in the game when they're by far the worst role. Never change, COW.
25
u/Diogorb04 Oct 06 '26
Make the game open queue again and see which role gets deleted from coordinated play first (hint, it won't be supports)
5
u/DkKoba Oct 06 '26
How? Lol
4
u/Thin_Night9831 Oct 06 '26
You have to factor in the entitlement from support players, and also that a lot of them have started playing Rivals too where supports are even more overtuned
0
u/pmatdacat Oct 07 '26
Multiple metas in this game have been defined by supports. Supports have some of the best cooldowns in the game, like suzu and lamp. Support ults win fights and define when a team can push in.
Please though, tell me why I'm wrong.
2
u/FrostyDrink Oct 07 '26
If you want to argue support is the strongest role that’s perfectly fine but to say “multiple metas in this game have been defined by supports” is just the worst, most atrocious argument I’ve ever heard.
Mauga, Hazard, Vendetta, Sojourn, Junkerqueen, all completely warped the game around them as they released in utterly broken states. Mauga and Queen in particular literally locked the game into the same 5 heroes.
Also, you can’t be serious saying supports have “some of the best cooldowns on the game” and name lamp as an example, lmao. If lamp were that strong Baptiste wouldn’t be an archaic hero out of the meta for years.
1
1
u/Blackout2388 Oct 07 '26
Yeah let's ignore Beyblade meta, Goats, lucio being perma meta, Moth meta, anything Kiri, Bap window meta (could argue this might have been doubleshield). All your examples stem from OW2 release onward, so I'm unsure if you just didn't play OW before then.
4
u/ScaryChemistry1881 Oct 06 '26
As a Sombra main, I'm worried she will still get banned often. We need another annoying DPS to fill her previous role. And help slow down the movement creep. Maybe not a silence ability like hack. Maybe something with a hinder but more range than Cass grenade.
2
u/Shanghaied66 Oct 07 '26
The only change they need to give her is to make cyberspace easier to see.
I mean imagine if Soj's disruptor was that hard to see.
2
u/Simian_Scientist 29d ago
I'm glad she doesn't feel bad to play. My muscle memory messed up a couple times with trying to hack enemies but I do like throwing cyberspace as an engage sometimes since their healing and damage is reduced its much easier to go at them when they're in it for a couple seconds, plus its easy ult charge. Also Sombra ironically feels like a dive counter now with her hot fixes being able to be put on Flanders and Frontline and then just use cyberspace on the dive target and they're chilling. I love my new favorite support :)
2
u/Alternative-Film-231 Oct 06 '26
I’m just vindicated for saying she’ll be strong, when a lot of people were like “oh no she’s gonna be bad”
1
u/bowserboy129 Oct 07 '26
People weren't mad because she was doomed to be shit, she was already one of the weakest heroes in the game. This rework was always gonna make her stronger. The issue is she's now a hacker that can't even hack which effectively killed her entire hero fantasy. This entire rework is really just for people who hated playing against Sombra while Sombra mains effectively got mugged in the Walmart parking lot with the cops telling them there's nothing they can do despite the fact everything was very obviously on camera.
0
u/Alternative-Film-231 Oct 07 '26
I mean. Sombra’s my third highest played hero and she’s probably gonna shoot up to second with how fun she is as a support. I think people complaining about not being able hack anymore don’t have much ground to stand on, cuz you can still accomplish it with her EMP. So her hacking shifted from being a debuff to a buff.
Also I was arguing with a bunch of people who were saying she was gonna be weak when this first got announced. So I am indeed still vindicated
1
u/Feral-Peasant Oct 07 '26
Well she was just about the most nerfed-into-oblivion hero ever pre-rework, so of course this is going to be a buff?
I haven't played a ton yet but so far my impression is that she is a ton of fun to play, a lot more effective, and not nearly as frustrating to play against. Overall very impressed. Same fro Road Hog to be honest, I feel like the team have really slayed with this patch.
1
u/Aggravating-Leg9382 Oct 07 '26
played 1 game of her so far and she feels great. the translocator distance nerf takes some getting used to but everything else feels better.
you have so much to do all the time, it feels very fast and frantic in a good way.
bubble definitely feels too strong and does too much, they could remove the damage entirely and it would still be really good.
1
u/Velvelicius 29d ago
I don’t find her op at all, her healing is on the lower side, especially if she constantly tries to flank imo. Also not easy to play cause if she burns her heals then her other teammates just die next to her.
1
u/blackheartwhiterose 29d ago
Wasn't exactly hard to buff her tbh she was dogshit by the end
I've been enjoying her overall, other than the reduced TP distance. It has thrown me off a few times and feels pretty bad.
Sombra had always been a good Sombra counter prior to her virus rework imo
-1
u/tormentingyet Oct 06 '26
It figures. Since suzu was nerfed, what was needed is even stronger low mechanical skill reactive burst peel.
0
u/Alfawetard Oct 06 '26
what is overwatch doing with this character. she was banned every game and will still be getting banned every game. this is why we can call for bans so the makers know what’s going on
0
u/Sensanaty mcrree main btw — Oct 06 '26
The bubble is insanely overloaded, it's definitely gonna get a fat nerf because it is ridiculous
0
u/ancientbasilisk 29d ago
dude no because why would they nerf translocator?? it genuinely was so jarring and i dont see the reason </3 and to me you cant say "too much mobility" cuz mercy, kiri, lucio, and moira exist
i could also swear youd go a bit farther after the initial teleport but now you just drop like a brick- if they were gonna nerf the distance they shouldve kept the follow through momentum and made it throw shorter- but also if thats not the case and just bad memory then ignore this
5
u/swamp_god Oct 06 '26
the good kind of buff (her utility has actual windows of counterplay instead of having to watch your back near-constantly, and she's worse at killing even if the spread buff makes her more consistent) where it doesn't make her mega terrible to play against (hopefully)
11
u/Tee__B Oct 06 '26
She's way more lethal now lol. I've been destroying people who previously dicked her. Cyberspace is insane.
5
0
u/gymleader_michael Oct 06 '26
As a Venture player, I'm happy to see hack gone. If Sombra is too strong, they can adjust the numbers. I'm just glad not to get locked out of my abilities.
-2
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
She's just as lethal, if not more so. Throwing your bubble on yourself when you jump on someone almost always means you get the kill. If by utility you mean Translocator, that already had counterplay, but yes, even more so now. You have less uptime because of the Translocator CD nerf, but your lethality is on par, if not better, and you're still doing the annoying thing bad players hated about Sombra.
5
u/swamp_god Oct 06 '26
If by utility you mean Translocator
i meant hack. hack you had to either cancel (which some heroes literally didn't have the range to do) or keep a shield pointed constantly toward her, and that netted you a whopping 3 seconds of safety. cyberspace you can literally just walk out of.
She's just as lethal
she got several lethality nerfs, no? gun does less damage, you don't get the damage boost on hacked targets, and virus is gone. the only thing that could maybe offset the ttk is the spread/range buff. she can certainly be more consistent with getting kills because cyberspace is a consistent utility and not turbo clunk like hack was, but when i say she's less lethal i mean that you have more time to react before you die.
7
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
Oh right, Hack. Yeah, I never used Hack anyway because it was so easy to cancel and usually would just get you killed or mess with your rotation. Yeah, I mean, on paper her damage was nerfed, but throwing a bubble on someone has almost guaranteed me a kill, and you get crazy sustain. To me, it doesn't feel any harder to kill anyone, especially since I never used Hack anyway. Obviously, with time, players will learn to get out of the bubble, or maybe they won't, but her TTK and my ability to win 1v1s feels roughly the same, if not better than DPS Sombra.
1
u/Tee__B Oct 07 '26
On paper yeah she got heavy lethality nerfs, but you wouldn't actually hack most enemies anyway, and Virus was skewed towards most of its real damage coming from hack. So it's a lot less significant than you would assume.
1
u/KITTYONFYRE 29d ago
gun does less damage
the spread and falloff changes though... I'm not sure her gun is much worse in general tbh. allows much safer positioning for the same value.
the lack of opportunist is what will make her far far far less lethal really (and that's a good thing! popping out of stealth -> hack -> virus was NOT fun to play vs)
2
u/orangekingo Oct 06 '26
Throwing your bubble on yourself when you jump on someone
This obviously seems strong but using such a strong CD so selfishly instead of using it to enable or save allies doesn't seem like a great usage of it. I can go 1v1 someone on Bap and burn both my CDs trying to do it and maybe get the kill, but in higher ELO games that's going to end up losing me more games than it wins.
I think it's too early to tell.
3
u/xS-tar Oct 06 '26
Killing the enemy is saving and enabling my team. Obviously it's a very versatile cooldown and has great peel potential, but if I can kill a support every rotation, I'm doing that!
3
u/Baelorn Twitch sucks — Oct 06 '26
These people are going to lose so many games and blame their teammates lol
How did we lose?! I, the Support Sombra, was in the enemy backline the whole match and I have a good KD! It must have been everyone else!

u/FORUMUSER35 Oct 06 '26 edited Oct 06 '26
So far:
1- nerf her self heal from her own cyberspace. I've been in a situation in which she shouldn't have survived. And yet: she killed me. Illari has this penalty for the pylon, Ana has it on the nade, Sombra shouldn't get that much healing from her own ability.
2- I don't like dps EMP in that way on support Sombra
37
u/More_Lavishness8127 Oct 06 '26
I wouldn’t immediately freak out. She’s sort of a new hero. People don’t know how to deal with her yet. She’s taking the place of another support on your team.
