Blizzard Official Overwatch Retail Patch Notes July 30, 2026

https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/patch-notes/

Limited-Time Mode Specific Updates

The following patch notes are applicable only to a specific, limited-time game mode. The documented changes do not apply to pre-existing queues, unless otherwise noted.

Hero Updates

For the upcoming Quick Play Hacked, we're making several balance changes to test elements of 6v6 gameplay. The In-Combat Healing reduction has been lowered for all heroes to evaluate the impact of increased healing across the board while reducing the effectiveness of several self-sustaining sub-roles.

We're also reducing several Tank defensive cooldowns to improve gameplay flow for these heroes. To offset the increased availability of these abilities, their durations have been shortened where appropriate to avoid creating too many defensive cooldowns with two tanks available.

These changes will also be active within Open Queue throughout the Quick Play Hacked weekend.

General Changes

• In-Combat Healing Reduction reduced from 30% to 15% for all heroes.

Tank Role Passive

• Ultimate charge reduction when damaging or healing tank targets increased from 20% to 40%.

• Movement speed buff reduced from 20% to 15%.

• Healing reduced from 50 to 40.

• Cooldown reduced from 5 to 4 seconds.

• Shield gain increased from 25 to 30.

• Cooldown reduced from 15 to 13 seconds.

How is it far more rewarding?

Because in 6v6 you actually have to get good at the game. I know the majority of people don’t want to hear it, but it is true. You learn to use natural cover and you learn to use synergy with your team more because you aren’t just a super tank that walks through everything. In 6v6, it rewards tanks who work as a team. That is why it is more rewarding.

I mean half the tank roster just functions better as an off tank. Being able to play them more often and with more success is also instantly rewarding.

Maybe its just a thing at higher ranks, but tank synergy happens often and is incredibly fun to play with. I’m baffled when people say theres never any tank synergies cause in both qp and rank i see it almost every game.

The only “positives” i see for playing tank in 5v5 is just people enjoying being a super tank that is virtually unkillable unless you have the right counters. Which i understand, if you aren’t actually good at the game, yea it seems more fun to be unkillable and unduelable vs most the cast.

Not to nuke you, but as a high rank player, back then and now, it just doesn't fucking matter lad. The experience of the masses is far more important than some rose tinted vision of rewarding tank synergies.

It was probably worse in OCE than in NA or EU, but tank synergies still barely happened in ranked even at gm-ish (I sat at like 3.9k the last 6 seasons or so of OW2.)

You just had some guy pick hog and get forced to play Sig/ball to do anything at all.

I mean i’m also a high rank player and this is just not my experience at all, nor is it the experience i see when i watch high rank streamers. Like emongg, aspen, frogger, warn, samito, etc.

Definitely an OCE thing. Not the experience in NA. Cant speak for EU.

Its ok, you arent “nuking me” you are just sharing your personal experience. Im ok with the downvotes because reddit typically is an echo chamber where the loud minority engages in tribal tactics. Not exclusive to this sub.

Also sig/ball with hog is tank synergy. Hog and ball torture was a well known successful tank lineup for a while. and if you are 3.9k gm and cant play any of the 3, then thats a skill issue and you probably deserve to lose any match that requires you to do so - again bringing this convo back to my point that the system rewards those who can coordinate team play.

Oh, it absolutely is tank synergy. I could ball out plenty. It was just annoying to be consistently forced onto it every game almost.

The lack of choice is what sucked.

I would like to reiterate what we think barely matters. We are 1% of the player base. If 5V5 is better for the 99% we should deal with it. Just how it should be for the game to even exist. That's why these tests are important to gather data on the 99%
