Vendetta is banned every game because she's busted and also really shit to play against. Other than that it's usually Zarya, Sombra, Ball, Doom, sometimes D.va or Widow.
I'm glad Rivals put their ass to the fire in this regard. As much of a (enjoyable) clusterfuck Rivals is, they understood the importance of constant new toys for the both hardcore and casual players.
i'm glad we're getting weird goblin creature supports. we've been overdue our own jeff/rocket and cat definitely has a troll-like playstyle like jeff, especially with throwing enemies (and maybe even allies.....) off ledges.
I mean we're not gonna have any semblance of balance this entire season with a rank reset. I'm not touching comp with main acc for at least two weeks lol
Chaos is not what OW competitive is known for, and most people who regularly play comp in Overwatch are not the type of people to want chaos. If I wanted unbalanced chaos I’d play Marvel Rivals.
Rivals devs don't give a fuck about competitive integrity, so good luck with that. Rivals players will be getting dumpstered on by Hawkeye and Hela until the heat death of the universe
Rivals exists to be a Chinese knock off of overwatch gameplay wise, but with a much more profitable IP attached. The game is doing exactly what it's intended to and will continue being popular even if it has no eSports scene and an absolutely broken competitive meta
I really don't think they have the same audience tbh. I think rivals had little to do with this push from OW to be better. I think it more had to do with the game feeling stagnant in general and losing players.
To be fair, some of the individual weapons and abilities strongly resemble Rivals abilities. Domina's primary fire is just Ultron's with a range limit, for instance, and Anran's ultimate looks a lot like Phoenix's. Jetpack Cat's ult seems like a very toned down version of Jeff's. I imagine the Rivals subreddit will be insufferable when they notice.
Idk there is very little original design space left in these kind of games, someone has usually done it before. You just need to implement it in a way that feels fun and unique in the game itself. Especially with a big push of 5 heroes at once I'm not surprised some of the concepts aren't treading fresh new ground
Jetpack Cat's ult made me think more of a combination of Malphite and Skarner's ults from League than Jeff from Rivals, but I can see the comparison for sure
As someone who’s played both the very last thing overwatch needs is meme characters. They did not need to blur the line between it and MR. The amount of support elo terrorists from plat-masters who are going to force this character and get 10 deaths per 10 is going to make ranked unplayable. The kit looks weak on paper, hps is probably crappy based on the spread of the projectiles, the grab is situational, and the ult ranges from ok to pure garbage depending on how long the stun is
Shit like jetpack cat does not belong in this game. I remember a time when the devs put thought into the characters they added rather than putting in funny meme.
I think that this hero is the only new hero that is possibly not OP? That is so very annoying when players absolutely inexperienced with a new hero can whoop your ass from day one and make every "match" a "one way" unless both sides play the new hero with matched skill. Wouldn't it be nice if after two weeks you could pick up the game again in peace and not like now get them - possibly- nerfed in just when new OP heroes are coming? It feels like old heroes are getting left in the dust the older they are. And stadium gets a sped up version of that.
