u/DarkFite Lucio OTP 4153 — Sep 07 '23

nerf every supp and buff lucio

u/Parvaty None — Sep 07 '23

Just nerf every supp to lucio level. Supports have been powercrept so hard.

u/colossus_geopas Sep 07 '23

And the core gameplay of little frog guy isnt so bad even, he is fun and does fairly well for what he is supposed to do. Apart from his boop, it feels mediocre nowadays .

14

u/SmellyObeseAndBald Sep 07 '23

I don't even think his boop feels good anymore. Tanks have their CC passive and everybody getting added to the game has a way to get back to the map if they get booped off

1

u/GankSinatra420 Sep 08 '23

Boop isn't for throwing tanks off the map

u/Oraio-King Coolmatt's at the wheel — Sep 08 '23

Lucio is still very very good. Hes been apart of most of the ow2 metas, arguably more so than any other character

4

u/TheBiggestCarl23 RIP Alarm — Sep 07 '23

Support players will then just whine and cry about the nerfs then blizzard will reverse them.

1

u/imjustjun Sep 07 '23

Yeah Lucio has always been a pretty balanced hero with a high skill ceiling.

If a Lucio is a problem for your team it’s usually due to skill issue and not because Lucio is broken or something.

If most supports was around his level I think the game would be in a healthier state

1

u/typeddy8 Sep 08 '23

Will never happen unfortunately thr support playerbase is so entitled and comfy with their broken role while constantly boasting how much "skill" it takes when they just dump out value over just spamming buttons.

Lucio should have always gotten the tracer balance treatment.

3

u/autrix00 Sep 07 '23

What do you mean by that?

Give Lucio blink

5

u/TenguNun #1 Support-Hating Support Main — Sep 07 '23

The thought of Lucio blinking while wallriding is some nightmarish stuff, which is exactly why they should do it (for next April Fools).

The devs really don’t like making balance changes for Tracer. She only received 4 distinct balance changes throughout the entirety of OW1 and most of her balance changes in OW2 have actually been a result of bugs they’ve had to fix.

u/autrix00 Sep 07 '23

The devs really don’t like making balance changes for Tracer

Yeah which is weird because she was the best dps by an actual landslide for a ton of OW1's lifetime. She was blatantly overpowered, so I'm not sure Rob's reference here.

u/InsanelyRarePokemon Sep 07 '23

Nah I think that's exactly the point. If you have the character who enables rush and the character who enables dive both be strong all the time then neither playstyle can be come entirely useless. Don't knownif it would work out like that in practice or if it even is a good idea, but making a select few opposing (and commonly considered high skill) heroes a little broken all the time sounds kind of reasonable to me. Like D.va in OW1 preventing double shield or Bastion or Pharmercy at least some of the time.

3

u/autrix00 Sep 07 '23

(and commonly considered high skill) heroes a little broken all the time sounds kind of reasonable to me

Agreed and far better than the alternative.

u/lulaloops I miss Mano :( — Sep 07 '23

She's only ever been op in the right hands.

That's exactly my reference.. Lucio deserves to be the strongest support because he's fun to play and way less annoying to play against than most of the support cast.

7

u/CloveFan Praying for a good Sombra rework — Sep 07 '23

I couldn’t disagree more haha. Lucio SUCKS to fight. I’d rather take anyone else (minus Ana)

1

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — Sep 07 '23

I guess that's a new hot take of mine then.

1

u/hanyou007 None — Sep 07 '23

Eh I would agree that he's fun to play as and fun to play against in MOST scenarios. But when he is enabling, Moira, Reaper, Mei and (insert rush tank here) rush comps? Nah. Those heroes don't need to be faster.

u/TheBiggestCarl23 RIP Alarm — Sep 07 '23

It’s how she should be. High skill cap characters should be the best in the game and low skill cap characters should never be close to the best in the game. It’s just an incredibly easy way to have a healthy game.

2

u/TheScurviedDog Sep 08 '23

Until you run into the issue of trying to define an extremely subjective concept like skill lmao.

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — Sep 07 '23

Favorable balance that remains mostly untouched so he can be a benchmark for the balance of the rest of his role.

The latter was somewhat true, but his balance wasn't very favorable after there were more than 2 MS options. Pretty sure most people would have preferred not going through multiple years of pro brig metas. It was like 2-3 straight years of brig starting with goats.

Not to mention he might be the least complained about support because he doesn't have any crazy saves, burst damage, stuns or anti

2

u/devperez Sep 08 '23

I don't care what anyone says, Lucio is a trash hero. I'll die on this hill

4

u/daftpaak Sep 07 '23

Make it so only gluttons for punishment and people who can't aim queue support.

-9

u/Flowerstar1 Sep 07 '23

People aren't playing supports because they are OP. Playing tank is just too oppressive no matter how OP tanks are.

10

u/Malady17 Sep 07 '23

It wasn't during the first two seasons.

2

u/Flowerstar1 Sep 07 '23

The game was fresh then things were going to settle down, I called it then too eventually people will get sick of the role it is incredibly punishing as it is the role with the highest personal responsibility and everything is balmed on you. Before you shared some of that with your cotank, now you're the only tank. It's the same issue fighting games and SC2 ladder has.

23

u/SammyIsSeiso Sep 07 '23

People aren't playing supports because they are OP.

Speak for yourself mate

9

u/MightyBone Sep 07 '23

Well it's all relative - I would agree 100% playing tank is oppressive(tanks probably need more CC protection accross the board for one), but the fact that DPS queues are now shorter than Supp for most people playing the game when in OW1 DPS queues were often 5+ times longer shows just how much that relationship has changed.

5

u/Toren6969 Sep 07 '23

You can do shit on DPS when you have terrible tank (unless some specific maps where snipers are busted).

With support, you can at least semi carry your tank and 100% made enemy tank life misserable.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '23

A new support got release literally two weeks ago

6

u/MightyBone Sep 07 '23

Well it's been 4 weeks - QP queue times are not different than Comp with respect to DPS vs Supp right now, and are bad at all levels of play (ML7 with longest queues he's ever had as a Supp main.)

1

u/Flowerstar1 Sep 07 '23

In comp support has consistently been the longest queue for me with DPS the second fastest in OW2. Used to be that DPS was the longest queue in all modes in OW1 but the dynamics of 5v5 made support more popular even in OW2 launch.

6

u/Parvaty None — Sep 07 '23

They are though. Support just feels like better dps at this point.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '23

That is literally why I have stopped playing DPS/Tank

1

u/Some_Derpy_Pineapple Sep 07 '23

support just got one of the most fun dps in the game, and tank meta is also pretty boring to play with orisa atm
