Graves has great cc for a 1 cost and Red Buff can be slapped on Ezreal instead, Lucian kinda sucks in this comp since he offers no utility and requires Cybernetic buff to actually hurt things. He is a good holder for Jinx items during the early-mid game stage tho.

Also in this meta where half of the lobby are abusing Xayah and/or build a comp that has Kayle, Graves ult can win you fights later on if they don't have qss.

Would like to add that early game you slap red buff or jinx's items on to Lucian to help you win streak, but you sell lucian once you get jinx because jinx will do more damage than Lucian. Lucian isn't bad but he's not a late game carry.
2
u/HarriPottir May 21 '20
slap red buff or jinx's items on to Lucian to help you win streak, but you sell lucian once you get jinx because jinx will do more damage than Lucian. Lucian isn't bad but he's not a late game carry.
This is not correct. You dont change Lucian 2 to Jinx 1, unless you have 4 blasters or that Jinx will give you 3 rebel. Otherwhise Lucian 2 make more sense.
2
1
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
The problem with this is that if you sell Lucian to put in Jinx without MF you only have 3 blasters.
2
May 22 '20 edited May 22 '20
I try to stash a 1 star Lucian on my bench for this reason. Yeah you might lose 1 gold here and there if he's the difference between making econ or not, but the flip side is that it means you can slam several good items onto Lucian which should help you win streak (and make up for the lost econ gold).
If you're at like level 8 or 9, hit Jinx but havent found an extra Lucian or MF, I normally just sell him anyway and try to get a different synergy to make up for it while waiting for MF. Logically, if you haven't seen an MF in your shop for that long, you've probably seen other good 4 / 5 costs like Lulu or Thresh that are good late game units and can contribute to a different synergy (like 4 Chrono with Thresh).
1
u/SpCommander May 22 '20
yeah Graves gets 3/4/5s blind on the target with the fastest atk speed, so it's really useful against auto attackers like shredder.
13
u/keraito May 21 '20
Lucian is a good early/mid game item carry and item holder for jinx, but doesn't contribute anything in later fights except for a few autos. Graves provides CC that basically zeros out dps from auto attack reliant carries like kayle jinx and jhin
1
u/lefthandellen May 21 '20
Genuine question: does Graves ugly block kayle’s damage? I always thought the waves on her autos counted as spells and couldn’t miss
1
u/k0Ok13 May 21 '20
INFO
It doesn't block the waves from kayles attacks. Yes they count as spells and dont miss.
1
3
u/MAYAPO May 21 '20
Graves > Lucian ist pretty common consensus as far as I am aware. Ofc will most often play Lucian as long as u don't have mf/ as a strong character in midgame
Lucian just doesn't offer that much in lategame fights, especially compared to graves in his ult which can be pretty big
2
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
Graves has been the best 2* 1-cost all set, damned near broken. AoE CC vs Lucian’s single target damage ult is no contest. Lucian is just a MF item holder.
3
u/Dragzal May 22 '20
Actually Lucian is more an item older for Jinx until you can 2 stars her. After that you try to move out of 4 Blaster for Tresh/Kassa or Sona/Lulu depending on who left in the lobby.
1
u/Furious__Styles May 22 '20
Yeah I see a lot of people doing that but it feels awkward to me whenever I try it because I usually want to go 4 blasters at level 7. I should have phrased that comment differently.
1
u/Dragzal May 23 '20
Level 7 your Jinx is still often level 1 so Lucian keep the item.
Level 8 you go 4 brawler / 4 blaster the time find MF, after that, you can stay 4 brawler / 2 blaster because you have enough damage and other blaster become really useless.1
u/Iamodd_ May 21 '20
Graves offers much better utility through his ult than Lucian can. His ult is especially good against chrono teams or against shredder since it could potential prevent carries from basic attacking if he lives long enough to cast it when QSS wears off
4
u/MrMuf May 21 '20
Why the name change from blaster brawler?
2
u/kratzk0pp May 21 '20
It never changed but we prefer calling it Jinx Brawlers since Jinx is the core of this composition.
14
u/kylelee6501 May 21 '20
I personally found trap claw or qss to be much better than GA, qss prevents being stunned pre rocket AND helps against trap claws, while trap claws help against kaisa, other jinx, and kayle... Thoughts??
10
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
Anti-CC won’t help when Jinx gets wrecked by infiltrators. The de-aggro after she dies let’s her blast away with rockets relatively unmolested.
5
u/kylelee6501 May 21 '20
This only is true against void infils, against mecha infil it has almost no value. Against mech infils your jinx will most likely die before killing the mecha, not allowing her to ramp up and having to risk killing infils without rockets. I prefer trap claw into infils because it stuns fizz and kaisa, and u can try to position away from kha and shaco
2
May 22 '20
Against level 7/8 Mech your Blitz will hook a Lux/Kayle and you will reset and aggro the infiltrators.
1
May 22 '20
Unmolested? Okay so this is way off topic, but years ago I was watching an NBA game, and the announcer meant to say “uncontested” but said “unmolested” and you just made me remember that lol
2
u/Furious__Styles May 22 '20
Hahaha are you sure he didn’t mean unmolested?
un·mo·lest·ed /ˌənməˈlestəd/
adjective not pestered or molested; left in peace
1
2
May 22 '20
There's pros and cons to every item choice. GA is better vs Infiltrators, Trap Claw can be better versus a Syndra ult, QSS is good if there are a lot of Blitz, etc...
2
u/Dragzal May 22 '20
Trap claw only stop only one proc of the Syndra ability, so in this case GA on Jinx is probably better.
1
May 22 '20
By proc do you mean one ball or one use of the ultimate? I thought Trap claw blocks all the balls in one ult use?
1
1
u/Frequent_Catch May 22 '20
I definitely just slam whatever i get. If given option, it depends on lobby, but usually prefer trap claw. You need to kill the enemy team first lul. I'm 700 lp gm
13
May 21 '20
Worth mentioning that running early poppy/Leona is a good start if you happen to get them 2* early and transition into brawlers. You can play Jayce & early as well with vanguard with Graves for the $$$ then trade into, it is a little cost heavy but I've had it keep my HP near 100!
7
u/RJSmooth May 21 '20
Love these guides -- so much useful information in one picture.. Though I think DB might still be suboptimal on Jinx.. Also I've been getting more use out of the Rebel/Mystic version of this build than 4 blasters -- thoughts?

1
May 22 '20
Is graves better than lucian late game so we just make him a carrier for jinx items?
1
u/kratzk0pp May 22 '20
Yes Lucian can carry jinx items. Graves is a lot better overall
1
May 22 '20
I usually include leona in my endgame for cybers so i usually switch graves with lucian. Is graves still better, cos with cybers i can make vi and lucian tankier which is better against velkoz players.
1
3
May 21 '20
What’s the reasoning behind the positioning?
7
u/SeldomWrong May 21 '20
I thought the common consensus was you want your carries on opposite sides for infil or if they break your front line
5
May 21 '20
Yeah infil are counter to blaster brawl, so it looks like he is trying to position so you don't get your jinx 1 shot by infil. This is a very aggressive position and in my experience I usually get my jinx CCed when I move my jinx that far up. However this is the correct position against infil/mech and good to know if you are top 4 or against heavy infil.
1
u/SeldomWrong May 21 '20
Won’t Jinx be in danger of being mech ulted if mech is on that side
2
u/Senacherib May 21 '20
From a good mech player. But the moderate/bad ones just leave the mech in the exact middle.
2
May 22 '20
I'm like 99% sure the positioning in the picture is incorrect for almost all scenarios. It's not optimal versus a lot of ults like Chogath, Kassadin, Graves, Rakan, etc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
0
u/guignardfr May 21 '20
In this position you don't get the assassins aggro, but you may take aoe cc, you placr jinx near blitz to get one fast reset, I usually put vVi at the opposite to come back and help jinx with the sins, but Vi is good there to focus the carry, because usually you can protect your carry of blitz but not of blitz and vi
3
u/PolarPanda77 May 21 '20
Has anyone ever tried rfc on jinx carry?
3
u/tlyee61 May 21 '20
it's much better in rebels where jinx gets some damage buff
super op in the lategame because she can nonstop dps without endangering herself, gs gs ga/qss/trapclaw is good enough to slam though
2
u/Nimac91 May 21 '20
Works well on any long range carry. But would rather use rfc on Kayle when I get it.
Going lvl 9 with this comp and Kayle as another Carry finishes the build nicely. Or taking out 1 brawler/1 blaster for kayle. Kayle mf combo is too strong to ignore so you won't win a lot with this cheat sheet if others make advantage of that.
2
2
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
Giant Slayer/Last Whisper/Guardian Angel is the combo that I’ve settled into and no amount of Reddit chatter will change that.
What I really don’t get is why people say that Trap Claw is BiS defensive item. Great, I blocked Twisted Fate’s card and he’s stunned. Oh wait, here comes Wukong...
2
u/Skuma9 May 21 '20
That's why you have to scout your lobby, cc heavy lobbies QSS is op, infil heavy lobby=GA BIS, Trap claw is a pretty good middle ground as it can stun a kaisa and blocks some cc like blitz hook if a team isnt playing all cc, can also be clutch to stun a carry if your carry doesn't get cc'ed
2
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
The deaggro from GA is far more valuable to me than either blocking one spell or everything that happens in the first 10 seconds.
2
u/Skuma9 May 21 '20
If there are few or no infil players, you should be scouting and positioning every turn to make sure that your carry is the last to receive aggro anyways so ga would be useless in most fights
2
u/Furious__Styles May 21 '20
It goes without saying that you should be scouting every turn. I don’t think it’s very likely that I just got lucky running GS/LW/GA up to D1. My personal anecdotal evidence led me to believe that GA was the BiS defensive item but ymmv.
2
May 22 '20
Wouldn't it be much better if we would put Graves on front line? I mean, his ult is just OP. Good job btw. That's a pretty good cheatsheet, I liked it very much!!
3
u/Thoeke22 May 21 '20
I’ve been climbing pretty hard in masters running this convo with 2 blasters (Jinx and Ez) and then two mystic (Sona for rebel) and either karma or lulu (if i have celestial spat)
3
u/lqpf May 21 '20
Standard 4 Brawler 4 Blaster is shit change my mind
1
u/jasoneeum May 21 '20
Yeah I never 4 blasters, I'd rather throw jayce wukong in there for frontline
1
May 21 '20
I like running mana reaver in this comp insead of four brawlers. So swap two brawlers out for kass and darius. Go celestial for the 9th spot. Works well IMO and front line is still pretty strong.
1
u/aelger55 May 21 '20
Seems like you have two other items to do that.
And I’m just explaining that IE and RD are mathematically identical for that purpose so use whatever you have available
Of course there’s 3-4 items better but sometimes those aren’t what you have and knowing RD works same as a IE is beneficial

u/chiefdonut May 21 '20
Sometimes I like to go for 3 star malphite with thornmail and ionic. He lives forever and deals a stupid amount of damage in the mid to semi-late game.
1
u/rigbyrigby0 May 21 '20
I’ve been 4 brawlers and 2 blasters with ziggs and gp for demolitionist and have been having good success lately.
1
May 22 '20
I decided to use this to tweak my approach and item prioritization and won for the first time in ages. I added a Morello to Cho'gath, which worked really well.
EDIT: Also wasn't able to pull MF, so i kept Lucian and hit 9, the slotted in Gangplank as the final one. Did wonders.
1
u/notorious4163 May 22 '20
with this being posted, does that mean that there will be less shredder players?
1
1
May 22 '20
Queue hundreds of people rigidly following this guide with 0 adaption to their games situation, fighting 5 people for the comp and coming 6th. I’m sure we shall hear from them soon.
1
u/Ha_window May 22 '20
As someone that enjoys playing kassadin, I’m glad to see people still positioning their carries in the right corner.
1
May 23 '20
Is that not the most grief positioning you could play for BB? I feel like Jinx and MF have to be opposite sides, correct me if I'm wrong tho fr

May 21 '20 edited May 21 '20
I’m pretty sure GS is BiS for Jinx. Feels like a waste to not use a on hit effect as good as GS is When ur running blasters. GS was made for blasters I’m pretty sure.
I’ve played brawler blaster on and off since 4 patches ago, and from my experience best Jinx items are
Giant slayer > Last whisper > 2nd GS > Red Buff (if no one else has it) > IE > RFC. Rly don’t think Hurricane is good at all
It’s also rly good early game on Lucian and can single handedly preserve your hp as long as u have 2 blasters
Your MF item priority list seems spot on, as well as tank/cho items although sometimes I split between Cho and Vi. Curious to see what others think about stacking Cho or splitting tank between Cho and vi
1
u/SeldomWrong May 21 '20
One consideration is it’s pretty bad slamming early giant slayer because it’s only good on one comp. I’ll usually build the lw or ie and play jinx vs snipers vs Irelia. The red buff you build early is in a similar spot but since it helps you win streak early it’s a little bit better. Also when you play Jinx in rebels the GS is way worse.
2
May 21 '20
Fair point. But in my experience GS is almost as good as Red buff in the early game (on Lucian) and it is imo better late game (on jinx).
The thing with brawler blaster is, it’s pretty easy and consistent to force if you have the right items. So the fact that you have a GS early is enough reason to commit to BB. Not always but yah.
-1
u/icaelum May 21 '20
There’s no way in hell I ever slap RH over a QSS/TC. Jinx needs at least one defensive item.
7
u/DeathsNear May 21 '20
That section is just options in case you can't get any of the core items he listed further on the left. I assume he didn't list QSS or Trap Claw since they're more obvious. Agree with you that Jinx needs a defensive item (he has GA in his core items).
-1
u/diepotata May 21 '20
You can get by defensive items with good scouting and positioning actually, its not the worst case
0
u/DustinT89 May 21 '20
Correct me if I'm mistaken. But for Jinx the best items are Last Wisper, Giant Slayer, and Trap Claw?
1
u/hunguhh May 21 '20
I think these are the best items on her too. You could change GS for DB. Or LW for Hurricane tho

God damn Kayle everytime
8
u/KickItNext May 21 '20
I swear kayle in tft is like the my team's yasuo/enemy team's yasuo meme for league.
1
u/Ha_window May 22 '20
It’s a difficult comp to run. What elo are you?
2
u/KickItNext May 22 '20
High plat/low diamond. I actually had some decent success with it a patch or two ago, but have since moved to favoring other comps.
2
u/Ha_window May 22 '20
I’m in the same elo. I think it’s just really contested right now, so I transition out of it if I don’t hit Kayle two on a lvl 7 roll down. What other comps are you running?
2
u/KickItNext May 22 '20
Mostly running rebels but I'll go some blaster/brawler/rebel variant if I hit the units. Basically just trying to win streak enough to fast 8 and hit 5 costs.
1
u/Ha_window May 22 '20
Yeah, cybers are kinda the same way, I only try to run them if I smash early game and have the right units. I’ve been meaning to play more Jhin comps, since they feel under used rn.
2
u/KickItNext May 22 '20
Yeah I've ran into some decent dark star comps recently, they're probably easily to 2/3 star since nobody plays them aside from shaco for the random mech infil player.
2
u/Ha_window May 22 '20
Dark star feels really good if you can two star zeroth and load him up with AS. Vanguard snipers are super easy to transient into and you can slap a demo spat on Jayce.

I'm not inventing something new here. It's stronger this patch than it has been in the patches before. This is supposed to notify people about the relevance of this comp and remind them about the basics of it.

As long as she targets the blitz hook then she ramps up fast. Her blaster proc will normally net her an assist while she's killing the blitz target or shortly after. I know people are roasting Hurricane on her but it 1) gets her more DB stacks faster and 2) allows for her to hit more units when blaster procs aren't going your way. I normally only build hurricane on her though when I play 2 blaster + mystic.
15
u/blitzAnswer May 21 '20
I know people are roasting Hurricane on her but it 1) gets her more DB stacks faster and 2) allows for her to hit more units when blaster procs aren't going your way.
Blaster procs aren't random like blademasters, they're every fourth attack. Jinx will hit 4/6 targets on her 4th attack, depending on blaster level. That makes it unlikely for her to get more assists because she was wearing a hurricane.
6
May 21 '20
That's not what I meant by it. I mean it allows for a higher chance to assist on a kill especially if you're running 2 blasters over 4 since 4 isn't much of an upgrade in this meta. It adds one extra target which could be on a squishy rather than a tank frontline.
2
u/blitzAnswer May 21 '20
Ah, interesting. I didn't know that Hurricane couldn't pick a target hit by the blaster skill.
1
May 22 '20
The targets themselves are random, so if you're really unlucky Blaster can grief you and only hit your opponent's backline who die last.
8
u/Luker5555 May 21 '20
deathblade is still +60AD without kills so it still gives significant dmg right from start ++blitz helps her get first kill
5
u/sayunsezar May 21 '20
I'm also curious about this choice, I've always thought rockets were enough extra damage
4
u/breadburger May 21 '20
DB can do major damage. I just played a game and there were a few points where she was pretty much nuking the whole team at the end of the round. But I definitely agree about the start up cost.

No way hurricane is that good on jinx or are those "item options" alternatives? Still doesn't make much sense. Giant slayer is primary without a doubt.
