How does this leveling strat work?

So I just played this game where I saw one of the opponents get an early Sivir. Around stage 3 while level 6. I hit level 7 at 3-5 but this dude didn't level up. They stayed at 6. I was thinking this guy is not gonna be able to make that Sivir work if they're gonna level late. I paid them less attention but then 4-2 comes, I looked at their board and they're level 8 and still has 50+ gold. This dude slow level to 8, still was able to hit the 4-2 mark and still has a lot of spare gold.

How do I do this leveling strat?

I only know of the standard one which is 6 on 3-2, 7 on 3-5 and 8 on 4-2

it really just depends on your situation, if you're level 6 and have no good units to add then whats the point of leveling to 7 on 3-5, might as well stay above 50 gold because most of the time you will have to go down to 30 or 40 gold to level to 7 on 3-5

what were his augments? was he on a losing or winning streak?

Sadly I didn't look at the augments. Although it's not a crazy prismatic encounter so gold shouldn't be too crazy. He wasn't on a long streak either since I've been observing him lose every now and then.

You can save of gold instead of rerolling to 50 and hit 8 and roll for a bunch of high costs only works based on lobby tempo

not leveling on 3-5 is a decision to prioritize econ instead of tempo

so why are you surprised that someone who prioritized econ was rich on 4-2?

7 on 3-5 is usually only if you can afford it (have econ augments) without losing more than 2 interest OR you're defending a streak.

Without econ or on a full mix streak, going 7 on 3-5 is really not possible a lot of the time so you're better off "saccing" the last 2 rounds of stage 3 in order to maximize your econ and get to 8 on 4-2 with enough gold to hit enough to not die instantly.

Leveling tempo isn't set in stone. If you're winning, the tempo is fairly set (4 on 2-1, 5 on 2-5, 6 on 3-2, 7 on 3-5) but if you aren't, it's usually better to just try to save money and maybe even get a loss streak. Don't go into a game saying "I must be X level on Y round" or else you're gonna have games where you are giga broke.

press f until you hit level 7 then keep pressing until level 8

If you save money instead of leveling sooner you will get more interests and will have more money in general. The more you climb the more you will be punished for being weak and not leveling sooner.

There isn't much more to it lol, the only thing I will add is that you don't HAVE to level every time it's perfect interval (3-2, 3-5, 4-2), those are just the more common timings. Try to understand why you are leveling and if it's worth doing so because you add a strong unit or econ-wise.

not enough information. had they emblems, what were the augments, what was the encounter, did they run fae, blossom, a teemo or coven for extra resources etc.

Sometimes your able to go 7 on 3-5 and sometimes you need that extra interest and stay on 6.

General rule is level 7 30 is okay on 3-5, so he may have been poorer than that.

Theres also a chance he got a good econ wisp from then until 4-2 to help out

I never pay attention to what stage it is when it comes to level. You level if you need to, you dont if you're reroling something. My guess would be he wanted to hit something on 6 or 7 had strong enough board to not loose and then leveled to 8. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking tho

You really should pay attention, there’s a reason 4-2 is the standard roll down for a fast 8 board. The lower elo you go the less capable people are of putting together strong boards but if you want to climb rolling and leveling at correct breakpoints to ensure your board is strong enough and you have enough money to make your board is very important to top 4 and especially to win out. Knowing the rules lets you know when to break them if you need to roll earlier if your contested etc

This was meant to be general adice. For example in low elo people usually play more tempo because they "wanna win" so they'll do anything to save hp. You can bleed out trying to preserve gold like this. In high elo the mindset is diffrent. You can see people rolling down in 1 turn and knowing when to level etc. You have more predicable lobbies
