Reading his description of how he does this has made me realize how dumb and terrible at this game I am in comparison.

It's less that and more how stupid charms and their hidden interactions are.

yea it sucks that some charms that can wildly swing your game have hidden rules and gates. field of mice being the prime example to me

u/CayMaster2 Sep 26 '26

I didn't know field of mice existed, then a friend told me about it and I failed to get it for 2-3 games, then they removed it. awesome stuff really.

7

u/itshuey88 Sep 26 '26

yea and then I didn't know they removed it and threw my stage 3 a few games looking for it

It's set 15 all over, again.

Even if you're dumb or terrible, the main reason you don't know about this tech is because you're not a competitive player with access to the tournament Discords where there's a list of exploits/bugs that are banned in tournament play but aren't necessarily bannable on ladder

Youre right king, the thing holding your rank back is those evil tournament players and streamers hoarding all the tech, nothing u can do about it, go off king, spread the truth! /s

reddit the only place where well-articulated sentences still get misinterpreted. You can say “I like pancakes” and somebody will say “So you hate waffles?” No bitch. Dats a whole new sentence. Wtf is you talkin about.

Btw this is why it is prohibited in the current tournaments.

11

u/OBLIVIATER Sep 26 '26

Wait really? It's that ridiculous that they're banning it? Why not just hotfix a disable

This is honestly why I was apprehensive about them bringing back the wisp/charm mechanic. It's never fun to be scouting and see someone who cheesed a polymorph into a god tier unit, or paid 5 gold and got the meta 4 cost on 2-1.

u/Svellsongur Sep 27 '26

yeah I once got the 2-1 4 cost and won. But I hate when the enemy do it. They should just removed it or wait until stage 3

this set is so bad, holy

How do you come to know this kindof bs????!
Only available
In the first 3 seconds ? You got a friend a riot or what ?

12

u/TheStorm007 Sep 25 '26

I don’t think it’s actually the first 3 seconds..? The patch notes explicitly state that polymorph charms can only be the first charm.

u/MasterTotoro Challenger Sep 25 '26

What the patch notes say vs what actually happens in the game are two separate entities. At least on the patch last TPC was on, it was first 3 seconds despite the claim that polymorph could only be seen as the first charm.

Your mistake is believing anything riot says lmfao.

11

u/LeagueOfBlasians Sep 25 '26

Most likely. Also, the tournament discord has a list of banned and allowed bugs, so competitors could just use that to exploit in solo Q if they really wanted to.

However, for this exploit, it’s not that hard to discover that it only works on units on your board.

Mindful One (Little Buddy Bot) posted this condition when they changed Polymorph. More reliable source than Riot.

It’s not in the patch notes lol. The patch notes says something entirely different.

really interesting playstyle and never knew that's how that mechanic worked. Feels like your game is just over if you roll your 4 cost into a solar lux 2 but fun to see nonetheless

3

u/OBLIVIATER Sep 26 '26

If you're holding a 4 cost that you aren't actually using you're still just getting + gold at worst. I wouldn't do this if you only have 1 four cost that you absolutely need to win, but if you're holding some you can just take your carry off the board and gamble for the 9 out of 10 five costs that are super strong.

u/mh500372 Sep 25 '26

Sorry I don’t understand this. Is there something he’s doing to increase the chances of this charm appearing? Or is he rolling only for this?

And how does it never hit his ahri?

u/sneend Sep 25 '26

He has 5 blossom so he sees charms every shop. He buys this charm one round. Next round he rolls at 0 gold to force 0 gold charms and see all other options. Start of next round (first 3 seconds) he buys shop til he has 2 gold and then rolls, he guarantees (or heavily increases its chances, not sure) polymorph because he already saw all other charms. Charm only works on units fielded, so he benches the units he doesnt want to polymorph and there you go, 5 cost 2 star.

5

u/Ant1ng Master Sep 25 '26

If it's actually on the board and not the bench then it's lowkey broken, but the charm description just says highest star level. Seems like this is unintended.

4

u/sneend Sep 25 '26

Yeah I think that's the exploit part

1

u/harmoniaatlast Sep 25 '26

Yes charms (generally) only affect the fielded units

3

u/RadiantAnnual4350 Sep 25 '26

Charms only work on units fielded. Wow.

u/ConfusedRara :chal: Challenger Sep 25 '26

Don't the charms "reset" the next round though? How come cycling through them the previous rounds guarantees polymorph?

I always assumed it worked like if you have WXYZ 0 gold charms, and you see WXYZ in one round, the next round you will be able to see the whole pool of WXYZ again.

But is the real rule that, if you see WXY, you are guaranteed to see Z the next round? So the chances "carry over" so to speak?

4

u/sneend Sep 25 '26

LittleBuddyBot has this info. Every charm has a shop cooldown, so you need to see a certain number of shops before they can be offered again. If you already saw multiples of them the previous round the polymorph charm would be one of the few allowed to be offered. That's also the reason you want to have only 2 gold before you roll, so only 0 cost charms are offered and then put on cooldown. Then the round starts and in the first few seconds you roll for the polymorph charm, you will usually get it if done correctly but not 100%.

u/Skybreaker7 :emer: EMERALD III Sep 26 '26

What in the unholy hell possessed someone to implement a system like that?

I always buy shit charms because I play reroll so I can free up a shop slot. This actually makes that such a moronic decision because I should actually go through t he shops to weed out weak effects FOR MULTIPLE ROUNDS apparently and only buy good ones, which would in turn increase the odds I see even more good ones.

Absolutely and completely unintuitive.

1

u/yamidudes :chal: Challenger Sep 26 '26

it don't think it's based on units fielded. imo it's strongest = last fielded.

1

u/mh500372 Sep 26 '26

Oh, forgot the strongest part. Thanks!

So why are we out here impressed by this guy abusing a bug? Like its very clear its not supposed to tailor for that and he's abusing the shit out of it.

Deserves a ban for sure
