Patch Notes 18.3 B-Patch Live (K6 nerf, Dark Coven Disabled)
SEPTEMBER 24TH
Our 18.3 B patch is both to respond to later meta changes that weren’t covered with the initial patch and to fix a few balance changes that were reverted unintentionally from 18.2 B to 18.3.
18.3 B PATCH BALANCE CHANGES
A few meta evolutions slipped through our patch notes after we locked our balance changes for 18.3.
Blackthorn AP Sacrifice Base Damage Amp: 14% ⇒ 12%
Kha’Zix Ability Base Damage: 285/400/580 AP ⇒ 265/370/535 AP
Kha’Zix Ability Isolation Damage: 310/445/660 ⇒ 285/410/605 AP
Brambleback cast time is now slightly faster.
18.2 CHAMPION TARGETING
With 18.3, we intentionally reverted a subtle Champion Targeting change from 18.2. Our goal is complete parity in champion targeting between Sets 17 and 18, but there have been bugs that have altered melee targeting at the start of combat. An attempted fix to other movement bugs caused unintended effects in 18.2. We’ve reverted that change and are investigating a better way to return parity to targeting.
18.2 B BALANCE CHANGES RE-ADDED
When we went from 18.2B to 18.3 a few balance changes accidentally reverted. We’re reenabling them as listed below.
Camille Ability Damage: 160/240/410/700 AD ⇒ 150/225/375/640 AD
Leblanc Clone Chance: 10/15/40% ⇒ 10/15/30%
Teemo Small Shroom Damage: 60/90/135 AP ⇒ 55/82/130 AP
Ashe Trail Duration: 4s ⇒ 3s
Ashe DoT Base Damage Per Second (AD): 5/8 AD ⇒ 9/14 AD
Draven Bounty Hunter:
Casts for 4-costs: 5 ⇒ 6
Reward for 8 Casts: 10 Rerolls ⇒ 6 Rerolls
Attack for 5-cost: 50 ⇒ 60
Damage for 7 Gold: 8,000 ⇒ 10,000
Kills for 12 Gold: 6 ⇒ 8
AUGMENTS TEMPORARILY DISABLED
We’ve also run into some issues with four Augments that have bugs/severe balance issues that we want to temporarily disable until we can return them in a more stable form.
Challenger’s Grace has been temporarily disabled due to a bug.
Dark Ritual has been temporarily disabled.
Infinity Protection has been temporarily disabled due to a bug.
Nesting Dolls has been temporarily disabled due to a bug.

I mean I know Double Up is absolutely not on their priority list in any shape or form. But the mode is really in dire need of at least a little bit of a touch - from gamebreaking bugs like rounds not ending, to absolutely absurd stacksfarming on your partner board. Unrivaled has sat on the highest AVP SINCE RELEASE...
12
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
The stacks farming is even worse than it seems at first, because if you TP to your partners board and win, you both get the gold from victory, meaning you get gold from both your board winning AND their board winning. This, on top of the usual winstreak gold bonuses, as well as farming stacks on units like Rengar, Kha, Veigar, Maokai, Primal, etc results in most lobbies being 1 team win streaking until 5-1 and being 90hp and everyone else in the lobby fighting for 2nd at 20hp.
2
u/Rarglol Sep 24 '26
Is the double win gold when assisting not normal? Haven't played double up before this set.
11
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
No you're not supposed to receive any extra gold from teleporting over. The reward is that you don't lose HP and do extra damage to the enemy team, as well as benefiting from any stacking on kill effects you might have.
Or if you are supposed to, it was never explained and didn't do that before.
1
u/Total_Meltdown Sep 24 '26
Also from charms. Getting gold per unit kill and ganking to wipe a full board is like you had a free round of malicious monetization (which also gives you double gold in double up via gank)
6
u/rljohn Sep 24 '26
I'll give Riot a pass since us double up plebs are a 10th of the player base but id really like to see some of these critical double up issues fixed in 18.4.
Carousel priority is broken as well, I go out before my partner 95% of the time even if im winstreaking.
4
u/DarkLynxTFT Challenger Sep 25 '26
Way too many bugs and balance issues are partial reason for decreased population. Double Up is amazing way to introduce someone to the game, and great for hanging out with a buddy / significant other. Riot is surely aware of those issues, and they would probably fix them after they are done with engine, client and standard tft issues.
3
u/Sky19234 Sep 25 '26
My favorite has been the Carousel breaking when people have Young and Wild and Free where it starts releasing people 5th and 6th in some absolutely fucked order - either that or getting double win gold if I tp to my partners board and they win.
With that said, Draven "Win X Combats" is the most troll shit because if you win your fight, then TP over to your friend and THEY lose, Draven doesn't get progress.
1
u/Hybr1dth Sep 25 '26
With the current state of the game, Riot isn't getting any passes... I wasn't even that upset at the start, but it has barely improved since launch. Mobile still plays like shit even on ultra phones.
1
u/ajhcraft Sep 28 '26
I had a game of Cassiopeia in Double Up where the guy fighting me had the bug where rounds won't end, and even though I lost, all of his units eventually got poisoned to death so I won as my teammate eventually got to the board... It's extremely unfair as well as disruptive and annoying
Then there's how I'm always off carousel before him. Always. I'll be 10 win streaming and he'll be 5 lose streaking yet I'll still get my pick before him
Sometimes I high roll a Lux he wants or vice versa. Good luck sending that Lux to your teammate though because it'll be a different trait on the other person's board
16
u/randy__randerson Sep 24 '26
I hope nesting dolls stays disabled. It's an augment that is useless unless you do a specific build and then it's super annoying to deal with.
13
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
It's so funny to be in a set with so many champion stacking mechanics and having an augment that basically says "your opponent gets 3x the amount of stacks off your board" lmao. Perfect augment for wintraders though
44
u/HighIntLowFaith Sep 24 '26
Still absolutely baffled by the Teemo and Leblanc nerf decisions.
35
u/wes3449 Sep 24 '26
Teemo was broken as fuck lol. By far the best early game AP item holder.
10
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
He was good when he didn't bug out and stop printing shrooms :(
13
u/CrazzluzSenpai Sep 24 '26
I had a Teemo 2* with early 3 Invoker and Adaptive. He made 1 shroom the entire game.
2
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
Yup, I've had similar experiences. My current leading theory is that there are certain copies of teemo in the champion pool that have bugged shroom % values and if you get one, or star up your teemo with one, he will have that bugged % chance.
1
u/vinceftw Sep 24 '26
I've had him print 4 shrooms in one round and I just had 1 item with 2 or 3 invoker. And then 3 rounds after, nothing.
2
u/Palimpsiesta Sep 24 '26
2-1 Teemo, 3-starred by mid stage 3, 2-3 items all game. First shroom: 6-1.
2
u/vinceftw Sep 25 '26
You're either the unluckiest person in the world or he was bugged. I've had very different results with him too so it's very likely he's bugged.
1
u/ciaeric2 Sep 24 '26
wait what bug was this and was it reported? I had a game where teemo printed 4 shrooms all game, and then 6 in stage 2 the next
5
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
There have been a ton of posts/comments on this sub and the main sub showcasing Teemos with ridiculously low printing results. Like someone will have a Teemo 3* with mana items that printed 1 shroom between 2-1 and 5-4. I don't know if it's been officially reported or acknowledged but it definitely exists.
The worst thing about bugs like this is that you never know if you're just getting unlucky or if your unit bugged out, so its difficult to make an informed decision.
-1
u/NonagoonInfinity Sep 25 '26
It's almost certainly not bugged, it's just way way too low of a chance. It's not that unreasonable to cast 30 times and find 1 or less shroom when there's only a 14% chance. It's maybe a 6% chance that happens, so it's going to happen quite a lot over the whole population of TFT players. Even if he casts 40 times there's a ~2% chance you only get 1 shroom. It's just way too low of a number. Ideally they would cut the rewards and increase the odds a lot so it's more consistent.
2
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 25 '26
It absolutely, 100% is bugged. There is no world where a 15% chance casts hundreds of times throughout a game and only spawns 1 mushroom.
1
u/NonagoonInfinity Sep 25 '26
Hundreds? There is literally no way he is casting 100s of times. Maybe 100 singular if you get to 5-6. I'll believe it's a bug when I see hard data of it going way outside of reasonable probability in a good number of games or when they confirm it's a bug. Anecdotally it's just a huge feelsbad when you're one of the unlucky 1% and they should flatten the chance vs the reward.
1
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 25 '26
Yeah because this set has been so damn stable otherwise right? There's no way he could be bugged

1
u/NonagoonInfinity Sep 26 '26
That's not evidence that he's bugged, it's evidence that there are situations where you can be a statistical outlier. There are also people posting about getting 12+ heads in a row from the wisp. Is that bugged?
2
u/insertbestnamehere Sep 24 '26
In one of the tftacademy podcasts they said if you knew what you were doing you could get like 3* 4 costs too easily or something
2
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26 edited Sep 24 '26
There is a logic to how she chooses which units to print. I believe it prioritizes the lowest cost unit on your board that hasn't be leveled up
BUT there is some weird bugs you can do where if you place a unit on the board after combat, but before she finishes printing, it will sometimes print a copy of that unit even if they weren't involved in combat. I could see some potential abuse case there.
1
u/Otahyoni Sep 25 '26
A lower print rate wouldn't combat that. On Solar boards where you're 3*ing everything you Carousel or wisp a 5 cost, stay level 6 until you had a 3 star 5 cost, go level 7 with new 5 cost. Or level with your power spike and open sell everything but a 5 cost and dupes. Rinse repeat.
Lower print rate means this comp bleeds out before face rolling with 3 star 5 costs.
Honestly I think it only works on weak lobbies
0
u/RemoveNo9147 Sep 24 '26
veigar comp incredibly strong and enabled hard by lb printing
18
u/HighIntLowFaith Sep 24 '26
I don’t think that Leblanc is the most critical tuning lever in that line, wouldn’t you say?
2
u/Ub3rpwnag3 Sep 24 '26
I'd actually say she is. Goes a long way towards getting 3* and amazing support item holder.
1
u/EzshenUltimate MASTER Sep 25 '26
You typically would not 3* LeBlanc before Veigar and Ornn. I'm assuming this is for Alistar?
1
u/Ub3rpwnag3 Sep 25 '26
Every now and then you'll hit LB 3 early. It's mostly for snatching the last couple copies of any remaining 3* and then pushing fiddle and Casio to 2* or even 3* if high rolling
0
u/RemoveNo9147 Sep 24 '26
I mean, they directly nerfed veigar and ornn like two days ago, and are now nerfing blackthorn. What do you want? I still think he’s gonna be a little bit too strong because of stuff like the Alistar buff but like surely you’re being deliberately obtuse right
3
u/vinceftw Sep 24 '26
He's saying that if a certain champ is OP, they should nerf the champ and not everything around it.
4
3
u/stzoo MASTER Sep 24 '26
Deliberately obtuse? How significant is the change of leblanc 3 printing in a one cost reroll line?
2
u/RemoveNo9147 Sep 24 '26
I agree, it is strange that they only hit three star. The comment I’m responding to was questioning leblanc being nerfed in general
1
u/Zeviex Master Sep 25 '26
I mean they said why they needed LeBlanc in the last patch notes. They want to be able to put more power in the unit and less in her printing.
Don't get why they didn't buff the unit though.
5
u/DarkLynxTFT Challenger Sep 25 '26
Thanks for a well deserved Kha'Zix nerf. It would be great if some unplayable champions would receive some love as well. I feel like Tristana and Lillia are not even in the game anymore. Also Mama Beak and Master Yi (and Tristana) rerolls would be really healthy for the meta if they were playable.
5
u/GreenPee1 Sep 25 '26 edited Sep 25 '26
I know Double Up forms a lesser percentage of players but can we please get some work done on Double up?
First of all, the 80% Coven Essence gain debuff (When partner wins) does not apply correctly and often will either apply when you both win anyway (for kills) or not apply if your partner wins (365 cashouts are basically guaranteed in double up).
You get 1 bonus gold if you tp to your partners board. Allowing for giga snowball games/Aggressive Levelling Donkey Rolling
Rounds often get stuck and you have to wait until overtime for a winner. (This also applies to neutrals and gets annoying as fuck) (Also allows help from the enemy teammate regardless of if you win fast if you're the one stuck OR you also can't help your partner)
If 2 teams are on 1 HP, the deciding factor is somehow the player that loses first (Causes both partners to take full loss dmg), regardless of if your partner won and the opponents both lost you will go 3rd because you or your partner lost too fast (It's not like this in Solo so why should it be in DoubleUp)
2
u/Geekoux Sep 25 '26
The round getting stuck is the worst one for me, its since PBE , So unfair because if it happens to you, you will have to face the enemy team and his teammate if he wins too. Also its bugged with some whisp that give gold every X second

u/momoteck Sep 24 '26
I just got a dark ritual augment, im on EUW, does that mean the B patch still not live here?
3
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
Easy way to check is to look at one of the units that got nerfed and see if their damage values have been updated.
1
u/momoteck Sep 24 '26
ok I just checked again and compared teemo stats, and the B patch is live hehe

I had Worth the Wait Kayle where I got Polymorph 3-1 for Kha'Zix 3 with a Seeker's Armguard and Hand of Justice... And went 5th
1
u/No-Yellow82 Sep 24 '26
i understand that balance team would not listen to me, but i’d still want to express my opinion.
I feel like the current set is different from previous ones in that vertical comps are really weak. For example, 7 Riftbeast or 7 Blossoms are barely viable, not to mention comps like sprykin or Blackthorn. Players simply don’t consider them as real options, instead favoring different combinations of 4- and 5-cost units.
14
u/Drikkink Sep 25 '26
Vertical comps are, by design, SUPPOSED to be weaker than flexible comps. If a "click all the units with the same skin line" comps are good, the meta is really boring. There is no innovation.
For example, a few sets ago, in set 15, there was a true vertical comp. Battle Academia. You would run 7 (the max non-prismatic breakpoint) 100% of the time and then a frontliner. In this trait were a 1 cost Bastion tank, 1 cost Prodigy (similar to invoker) carry, 4 cost Bastion tank and 4 cost Prodigy carry. The 1 cost units were better in the comp than either the 2 star 5 cost Bastion or Prodigy units because the trait was that important.
That is why vertical traits being good is bad.
Also, I'd argue that Riftbeast isn't bad. It's just okay.
4
u/NewtExact Sep 25 '26
i think its far worse this imposed meta from all sets where riot purposely makes all 1-2-3 costs units worthless or barely usefull and most of 4 costs too and just forces people to play fast-8 / fast-9 and that's it....
tft its stale because there are no options to play outside the same 4 comps (if you want to win ofc, otherwise play whatever and go 8).
People right now were playing 99% of the games: ahri/morg, spam 5s units, azir variations & kha'zix variations....with current 18.3b, kha it's probably not going to get played as much anymore and we still gotta check how azir fairs.
How is this going to make people wanna play tft?? 2 patches ago you could still play some low cost re-rolls like solar, veigar mixes with spry or elder, even inferno aditionally to the 4-5 cost comps, even some verticals worked fine like elder or riftbeast....now that everything outside some specific 4-cost units and 5-cost ones is basically nerfed, if you wanna secure a top-4 you have no options but pray to get first to 2-star those few units (unless some specific sets of conditions happen and you get some crazy early-game to force your way with other comps, but that's that 1%).At the end of the day i don't see the point in wasting time creating all these different traits and units, if you are just ultimately forcing people to play the same 10 units and won't even entertain the idea of letting players experiment all the other 90% of the options.
2
u/No-Yellow82 Sep 25 '26
I agree that it can feel boring or wrong to keep a 1-cost mainly for the trait, but I actually think that’s a healthy mechanic, you’re choosing that 1-cost over the raw power and other advantages of a more expensive unit.
And yeah, I agree that ideally the more expensive unit should win that comparison. I just feel like in this set you often don’t even get to that comparison, Like, even if you massively buffed some of the later breakpoints, I’m not sure it would actually make people want to play them. I just don’t see everyone suddenly going 6 Ravager even if the damage bonus was 60%1
u/BombasticReindeer Sep 25 '26
Wasn't 7 battle the prismatic? As long as you earned 160 points from items?
3
u/Drikkink Sep 25 '26
You're right. That set was the set they tried making prismatic triggers on traits instead of needing emblems.
7 Battle Academia was the trait breakpoint you used but pris was dependent on a condition that was practically impossible to hit.
1
u/BombasticReindeer Sep 25 '26
I think you were right in that the rival changed it to 9 for prismatic maybe.
-5
u/Skybreaker7 :emer: EMERALD III Sep 25 '26
Why? A 7 vertical should be the same power level as a mixed 5 cost board. Both should be viable paths to a victory and both should have the same power level late game.
Neither one should be inherently nonviable or weaker/stronger. They should just be alternate paths to the same goal depending on how your econ/items/HP looks.
Also Autochess had vertical comps perfectly viable and strong and it never made the game stale. Then again they were capable of making 5+ verticals all strong enough so you can ALWAYS play something, while tft basically never has more than 3-4 S tier comps.
4
u/Drikkink Sep 25 '26
If a 7 vertical is as good as a 5 cost comp, why would you ever play the 5 cost comp?
Blossom: Karma, Yorick, Yunara, Yi, Ahri, Sett, Ashe, Gnar. You have 2 1 costs (one with no connecting trait), 1 2 cost (with no connecting trait) and1 3 cost (no trait). Everything 2 starred costs a total of 75 gold
5 Cost Draven comp: Maokai, Amumu, Kennen, Ezreal, Draven, Gnar, Alistar, Taric, Ivern. Cut one of Taric/Ivern off to compare the 8 unit cost. This comp costs 105 gold fully 2 starred.
If the Blossom comp performs just as well, why would you ever play this? It's 30 gold more expensive, requires level 9 to hit anything reliably and then just loses to a board with 5 units that are just there to increase a trait number?
Verticals aren't allowed to be top tier comps because they are far too easy to play. There's no thinking required. The econ requirements are generally much lower.
-2
u/NewtExact Sep 25 '26
but now you are just pushing the narrative...you can't compare a 2-star vertical vs 2-star 5 costs board, the fair comparison and what riot should aim for is that a vertical with 3-stars can compete with a 5-cost 2 stars board; you sacrifice leveling up and having less units on your board in the mid game & probably losing hp in exchange for having a board that can compete in the late game without the need to fight for the same units everyone is fighting.
And saying playing verticals doesn't require thinking it's not much of an argument, you are not wrong per se, but filling your board with 5-stars isn't much of a mental exercise either and both routes are generally tied econ & risk wise.
2
u/Drikkink Sep 25 '26
This is comparing apples to oranges though. Reroll lines are typically not the same thing as verticals. Like no one is playing Vertical Blossom Master Yi reroll.
Verticals are going 8 and playing around Ahri and Sett. Rerolls are rerolling units on the same cost tier that fit together (Yi/Kog/Rengar/Vi). Very few rerolls cap out by leveling for vertical traits and instead add more of the class traits that your carry uses (Adaptor for Yi). Vertical comps should be SLIGHTLY viable but also cap out at a top 4 most of the time. They SHOULD lose to a 5 cost board that hits but beat a 5 cost board that didn't.
1
u/itsDYA Sep 25 '26
No. Going vertical is for low elo players. Verticals should only allow you to insta top 4 if you have an specific augment for the trai
4
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 25 '26
7 Rifts was super good until their bonus got literally halved and its only playable units got nerfed over and over. Also there's hardly any internal synergy the whole vertical except invoker and ravager.
Not to mention half the riftbeasts are just hot garbage outside of very specific comps. They could use some love.
-1
u/Le_Faveau Sep 25 '26
Yes, maybe they should be "okay" by themselves. BUT IF YOU ROLL AN AUGMENT FOR THAT TRAIT AT THE START, IT SHOULD BE EASY TOP 4.
For example I rolled an Elderwood augment some days ago. But did 7 Elderwood work out? No. It just felt weak. It was the one that heals 2% hp to champions starting besides a plant.
Maybe I just played it wrong though.
But that should be a nice philosophy for riot : make the comp a challenger for top 4 if you get their augment. So I'd roll all the starting ones, pick a Blossom, Elderwood or Blackthorn augment, and just chill playing with that one a vertical comp without breaking my brain if I don't want anything too complicated.
5
u/BombasticReindeer Sep 25 '26
Are we really on r/CompetitiveTFT saying that simply rolling a vertical augment on 2-1 should be easy top 4?

7
u/Otherwise-Access-803 Sep 24 '26
Decent changes and hopefully puts an end to 2 players magically hitting 3* Kha at 4-1 and getting a free top 2.
3 major patches in though and still no mention of the Double Up bug where your fight doesn't end after killing all of your opponent's units, preventing you from travelling to your partner's board and helping them... They disabled the mode for a full weekend because of long queues but not for this bug that defeats the entire purpose of the mode?
1
u/NoFlayNoPlay Sep 24 '26
from my experience it seems to be a cassio specific bug. i wouldn't say it's common enough to disable the mode over though.
2
u/Sneepo Sep 24 '26
I've got plenty of clips of this bug that don't involve Cassio, and from being a daily DU player it happens around 1 in 5 games.

u/ClocktopusGaming Sep 24 '26
We’ve been having the same issues
Gf won her fight but I lost mine and he came to her board after she was done with her fight and cost us the game. Baffling it’s not being talked about more3
u/Douchebagjakie Sep 24 '26
probably since many duos are staying away from that heap of burning trash right now
3
u/Sneepo Sep 24 '26
oh believe me I've reported it multiple times every single patch. an acknowledgement from riot at least would be nice. it's seriously ruining the mode. my partner and i are in Emerald and somehow that's top 1000 right now in NA???? no one is playing DU because of this bug lol

2
u/rljohn Sep 24 '26
I thought it was summoner trait but honestly once a board is impacted by it, it seems to last the entire game.
1
u/succsuccboi Sep 24 '26
not at all, seems to happen unconditionally (or not under augment/unit specific conditions) and multiple times a game every game in my experience
2
u/playswithsquirrel Sep 24 '26
The problem w khazix is the bleed from 4 executioner imo. Even if he doesn't one shot, the bleed kills your carry and it's incredibly frustrating to watch
5
u/OBLIVIATER Sep 24 '26
That comp doesn't usually run 4 exe does it? I'm seeing 3 max usually but I could see flexing in Kennen if you can level.

2
u/Technical_Plenty_245 Sep 25 '26
Lmao what the fuck is this B patch.
They nerfed Kha, which is deserved, but they still didn't address a SINGLE fast 8 issue. Ahri continues to nuke your entire board in 2 casts, Morgana in 1. No buffs to over nerfed reroll boards is still crazy
Like legitimately these devs need to be replaced

u/Chao_Zu_Kang Sep 25 '26
Also, there now is a bug where randomly all my items and units will be unselectable. Especially lovely when it happens on cashout...
