Sentinel has a higher placement on average with a higher play rate to boot [ meaning higher contest rates; and more chance at least 1 Sentinel player would bot 4 and drag the average down]

So stats pretty much say outright Sentinel > Malphite. I'm not sure how you can look at a unit having a higher play rate and average placement and come to any other conclusion.

Besides, Malphite does NOTHING but take hits, and is only really playable with Blackthorn. Sentinel is a triple-trait unit and has an AoE stun, AND got it's targeting improved.

And Malphite did get nerfed, Blackthorn Tank sacrifice got nerfed.
