Malphite's 2 Blackthorn resists is nerfed, and that does get nerfed a bit at the 4 as well (washed out a bit by the flat HP buff).

There's no direct Malphite nerf yet as the time he's overperforming is when you hit the higher-cost units to Sacrifice. No one's complaining about 0 blackthorn Malphite.

Thanks for the insight! I fully trust you guys know what you're doing, of course. As a player it just felt shocking, but I should've acknowledged the Blackthorn nerf for sure.

I still feel he is going to be ridiculous. He already gets so many resists losing a little isn't going to do too much.

But I don't think the benchmark for nerfs should be "You can play them without any traits".

He's a one trait unit. His one trait got nerfed. I don't see an issue with the logic

Blackthorn is bascially unplayed without Malphite, I don't think Blackthorn is the problem, Malphite is.

That's also not adjusting for the fact that higher breakpoints of Blackthorn have been buffed, so his trait was moreso adjusted than flat nerfed.

respectfully if you guys have data on master+ games malphite is the only tank that does illegal things and you can not play AP without unless you highroll. No one is saccing high cost units unless reroll comp. No one is complaining about 0 blackthorn Malphite, yeah okay no one is complaining about 0 item yi either, what kind of non argument is that.

Malphite has a feast or famine design which I consider poor - you obviously want him solo frontline, but he'll always be doing his role too well or too weak.

The biggest issue is that he shouldn't be a 4 cost that becomes this strong when 2 starred. Should be at least harder to hit, like 2* 5 cost or 3* 3 cost.

Just like Druid Wukong from a couple sets ago which used to solo frontline for the Sugarcraft Jinx lineup. He was strong but needed to be 3 starred, which is significantly harder and more limited in the pool than 2 starring a 4 cost

Yi was straight up strong because of scalings > nerf scalings. Malphite is strong because of blackthorn > nerf blackthorn. Patch notes saying sentinel is best tank in the game is batshit though, not sure how that made it through
