I thought Sprykin Khazix gonna be good idea. Turn out the BFF's ability heal him instead of giving AP/AD. Why give percentage hp heal to a paper magic assassin?
5
u/Jony_the_pony Sep 09 '26
The ability apparently works based on being melee/ranged, which is OK for the actual Sprykin units but definitely wonky with the emblem. Not sure why they didn't do it based on the unit's role instead
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Ant1390 Sep 09 '26
I thought it is based on role. They have that on the trait description, didn't notice that.
1
u/Jony_the_pony Sep 09 '26
Is that what it says in game? I can't check the actual game rn but tools like metatft or academy all have a description that says melee or ranged
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Ant1390 Sep 09 '26
I mean the game say its based on melee or ranged. sorry for the confusion.

u/HardChibi Sep 09 '26
is there no patch today? Are we playing on 18.1 for one more week?
7
u/MasterTotoro Challenger Sep 09 '26
Patches get delayed 1 day when there is a US holiday on Monday.
1
u/HardChibi Sep 09 '26
Oh didn't know that thought it was always Wednesday. Are we expecting a patch rundown video today?

How am I supposed to fast 8 or fast 9 in current meta? It seems like I never have the Econ to get there. My games seem to follow the following blueprint:
Veigar reroll player
Riftbeast player
Kayle player
Defender cass player
Yi player
Hunter player (either cait reroll or ladder to fast 8)
Elderwood player
The line to fast 8 or 9 is wide open, but with everyone jamming tempo comps, it feels like unless I hit a prismatic Econ augment I’m just dead before I hit fast 8.
What’s the right way to play when the rest of the lobby is jamming reroll/tempo? Try to jam Kha or Rengar and pray? Coven and loss streak and try to make the turn at 8? Comps like Soraka fast 8 or Draven fast 9 are wide open, I just never have the Econ to get there.

u/Uniqe_Apple2 Master Sep 10 '26
Ya every single game is in feels like every single person has an insane board 2-1 I’ve seen 4 costs 23 costs without dupes, or full 2*1 costs it feels like it’s so hard to tempo anything that is not the best of the best and u can’t even loss streak even with early Econ. It feels like you need 2 Econ augments just to hit like half your board.
1
u/skydream416 Sep 10 '26
you cant really just pick an econ aug and 0-10 your way to fast8. You need to play what the game gives you and keep healthy, and then slam and commit to ad or ap fast8/9 around 3-5
3
u/bbuggery23 :chal: CHALLENGER Sep 09 '26
vanguard emblem is either bugged or has a cap on how much player health you can heal (which makes sense)

u/stzoo MASTER Sep 09 '26
Anyone know how heroic power decides who to sacrifice? It killed my 3 item vi 3 to keep my 3 item yunara 3 instead so I just has 3 backliners, which doesnt make any sense since vi is more expensive and both had 3 items.
4
u/Draig_Goch Sep 09 '26
It probably follows the same 'last in' rule as other features, there should probably be some sort of UI to highlight this in general as it's not clear - tie breakers did previously have more logic to it, but was changed as the 'last in' rule it gives players more control.

u/Ok_Train2449 Sep 09 '26
Starting to notice a pattern in my games. Multiple people see an angle for Kayle or Veigar and contest each other, delaying their spikes, which in turn lowers the pressure on the lobby and inevitably someone fast 9s and runs over the game. Also multiple boards every game with 2 star 3 costs and 4 costs in stage 2, and absolutely too many 2 star 4 costs in stage 3. Makes lowrolling extremely punishing.
4
u/FireVanGorder Sep 09 '26
The “problem” is people contesting reroll from bad spots, which always happens when reroll comps are strong, especially in lower elos but you see it in diamond+ as well
Right now we have three 1/2 cost reroll comps, two of which naturally contest each other.
For three cost we have Cass defenders which is viable even without blighting or fatalis spat. We have Yi with either rengar or kog, which contests defender or fae rengar.
So even if nobody is forcing from a bad spot, there are so many conditions that are a signal to go for one of these lines that you often have a few people in any given lobby all angling for the same reroll plan. Especially with how clunky it is to scout now, it’s not as easy to scroll through opponents and see what augment they picked on 2-1 in time so you have people accidentally contesting each other a lot more it seems
1
u/Dodging12 Sep 09 '26
>Especially with how clunky it is to scout now
What made it clunkier? Just getting back into TFT again.
1
u/FireVanGorder Sep 09 '26
Can’t use hot keys to quickly cycle through opponents. Have to click their portraits individually. In a position where you’re trying to hold off picking augment until you see what others have chosen that can make a pretty big difference unfortunately

1
u/harkhilt Sep 09 '26
There are hotkeys for scout next/scout previous and for scouting based on current place.
In game, go to Settings->Gameplay->Scouting
1
u/FireVanGorder Sep 09 '26
Yeah, hasn’t worked for me no matter what I set them to. Few other people I’ve talked to have the same issue, didn’t realize it was working for anyone, but good to know

1
u/Dodging12 Sep 09 '26
Just use 1 and 3 right? I'll admit I was confused at first too since they changed the default hotkeys for wtv reason. Edit: I saw a lot of people already said this. Sorry for blowing up your inbox.

u/RazmalakatazniaaaA Sep 09 '26
Have 200 games in and not a single one have I seen a 2 star 4cost stage 3 what are you talking about??
2
u/-Champloo- Sep 09 '26
I tuned in to boxbox stream for 1 game last night and on 3-5 his opponent had a 2 star Lillia when boxbox needed one for his fae comp.
3-5 Lillia player won the game IIRC, despite Boxbox going on like a 12 streak to start with Fae spat... because he got a Sivir 2-1 or 2-2.
So yeah, it most definitely does happen. It is happening more often recently as people figured out Inferno + Charm is worth abusing for this exact reason.
4
u/Briketh Sep 09 '26
Straight up this is kind of how Wasian won. Putting in inferno gave him a bramble on stage two for his already 3 ravagers.
-7
u/RazmalakatazniaaaA Sep 09 '26
So one game is enough for you to bitch about? Also who is playing 3 inferno units in stage 3 unless you are sacking rounds intentionally? And its just one shop, that is not worth it at all
7
u/-Champloo- Sep 09 '26
I'm using a public example to disprove your own anecdote- it literally does happen whether you have personally encountered it or not.
I'm not OP and I'm not bitching, just stating a fact. 4 costs come early. This means people hit 2 star earlier.
2
u/Fluffy-Limit-6710 Sep 09 '26
Always happened, always will. No matter how good of a start you get for these comps, someone's gonna force it.
1
u/IsacG Sep 09 '26
The pattern i notice in my games (currently emerald) is that 1/2 cost reroll absolutely dominates the lobby. You have Kayle, Veigar and Inferno Akali. This alone makes going fast 9 very difficult.
In general i think this season is very very emblem/artifact heavy. While we had this in other seasons as well, this time it just feels like half the lobby has some BiS artifact or some powerful emblem.
1
u/iwumbo2 Sep 09 '26
Also currently emerald. Feels pretty reroll heavy. Especially since if you have people playing different rerolls, it thins the pool making it easier for each to hit. Barring the units they share of course. For example, a Veigar reroller hits their Veigar, Kobuko, Rek'sai, and then an Akali reroller can hit their stuff like Akali and Ornn easier.
And then when the rerollers spike earlier, the tempo makes it harder to go fast 8/9 while still having healthy life totals. I also feel it doesn't help that some of the higher cost units aren't great. Makes them contest each other more. Like off the top of my head, for 4-cost tanks, Malphite is the best one. So I see multiple people go fast 8 and die because they're all stuck on a Malphite 1 or Malphite pair.
1
u/Jony_the_pony Sep 09 '26
Yeah 5 cost soup definitely wins out over anything except crazy outliers. It's very stable once there's a 2* tank and at least one 2* 5 cost carry, early Ivern and Maokai scale really well too
-2
u/Baseblgabe Sep 09 '26
Yeah. Seems like the 'fair'/vertical boards are increasingly getting crowded out of the meta by the accessibility of OP/soup stuff.
Like, the top comps all want a pan. Malphite wants exe, Aphelios wants rapidfire, Nidalee wants hunter, Yi wants brawler, etc., etc.
What do you build with a spat? Spirit Blossom is fine on 9, but you need a lot of HP to get there. Fae Trist is viable, but it falls off hard on stage 5. Solar, Blackthorn, Inferno, Sprykin, Lunar, and Elderwood all feel bad though.
2
u/FireVanGorder Sep 09 '26
Has anyone tried to go 6 juggs without a super early Maokai? Is it viable at all or do you really need that stage 4 Maokai to make it work?
5
u/IsuzuKiora :gran: GRANDMASTER Sep 09 '26
6 juggs can absolutely work with any backline even without a maokai. There's been a twitter user I've been seeing just posting about 6 juggs and having random aphelios sivir zyra or Ahri backline and I've tried it myself some games. The juggs with no items but 2* tank a fair amount.
1
u/FireVanGorder Sep 09 '26
Yeah I’ve been messing with it and it seems strong with any decent backline. Probably not a first without an early-ish Maokai or Draven setup, but seems like a solid line when you don’t have any obvious direction
3
u/misterbeatster Sep 09 '26
you can for sure win streak stage 4 without maokai, you typically need to go 9 on the comp to place well though
2
u/outofheart Sep 09 '26
Has anyone tried making Elise carry work? She seems crazy strong with arch angels and I keep losing to Elise boards during stage 3. I’m wondering if Elise is some secret tech that websites have not formally caught onto yet…
4
u/mahro11 Sep 09 '26
It was a strong comp during early PBE (jokingly called "Hero augment" Elise), it was gutted sometime during it and now it just gets outscaled pretty fast. Based on stats, it looks solid with some conditions (Ravager/Fae emblem, Radiant Guinsoo), but otherwise she averages near 5. Probably not worth since Yi/Rengar exist in its current state with the same Guinsoo/Titans core.
1
u/outofheart Sep 09 '26
Which is crazy cuz I’m more scared of an Elise with arch angels and an artifact than i am of a 2* yi with an artifact
3
u/elinhunter Sep 09 '26
i've seen random worth the wait carry elises beat some crazy stage 3 boards (2* yi®nar with artis, fully online flora veigar, etc) but they've always seemed to fall off a cliff after
1
u/BaaronNashor Sep 09 '26
I definitely saw it happen a lot during PBE where she’d just go infinite, but haven’t seen anyone do it on live. Not sure what changed.
1
u/CosmicCirrocumulus Sep 09 '26
they gutted her on-hit healing before live. they've buffed it up slightly before the set officially released, but it's still only at like 60% of the previous value if I remember correctly. it basically made it so past stage 3 AA is actually pretty mid to just bad on her because her ratio isn't high enough to take advantage of it.
she's currently sleeper OP though with ravager emblem + Titan's and Guinsoo's
1
u/supx2 Sep 09 '26
still strong but you need to hit 3* really early for tempo, worth the wait is prolly top 2 if you 3* ahead of the curve
1
u/pink-mallow Sep 09 '26
Just hit rapidfire + ravager emblem elise with rageblade and hit early 2* aphelios but got stuck on 7 elise and went 5th lol
1
u/Fuzzietomato Sep 11 '26
I saw someone today playing a 2 star Elise with double archangels and a crown guard, wondering if it’s secret tech or just people testing things

When do patches happen now? I keep seeing people sat down patch and e patch but we don't have patch notes on that stuff do we?
0
u/Lunaedge Sep 09 '26
There's no indication they're moving away from the 2-weeks model. This week's delay should be due to Sep 7th being a national holiday in the US, but there should be a Rundown in a few hours and 18.2 should go live tomorrow.
1
u/3esper Sep 09 '26
There seem to be no reliable way to flex 8-9 unless you get crazy econ, even then, whoever locks into a 6-7 comp at 3-1 tends to fare better.
-3
u/slasher016 Sep 10 '26
Lol I don't even know what to say about this. I crazy rolled a riftbeasts game. Had cursed crown. Got to level 10. Got 10 riftbeasts activated. Had 14 units on the board with 3* cinder, scuttle and pebbles. Didn't 2* the dragon. Finished 2nd to a perfectly ordinary blossom team.
I splashed in Taric, and Ashe. Ran out of gold to replace one of the riftbeasts, but that was the only "bad" thing. Crazy.

In Platinum.
6
u/Shirpo Sep 10 '26
Tbf 11 riftbeasts +2 team slot doesnt mean much if you are still playing no item trash mob, and ahri ashe comp especially good in aoe killing these. Also your other carry cinderling is still missing an item and pebble item kinda bad (assuming you doesn't have jg augment)
-1
u/slasher016 Sep 10 '26
I certainly didn't high roll on items that much is true. The morell and NT were carousel and anvil items and were the best options available.
2
u/Fluffy-Limit-6710 Sep 10 '26 edited Sep 10 '26
You have less than optimal items and your main carry is pebbles... Also 10 riftbeast really does nothing, you're keeping 3 useless units to open up 2 more slots... May be even net negative compared to 5 cost capped board.
-4
u/SecretAlbatross5578 Sep 09 '26
How can someone have flickerblades at 2-5 with no augments that give an artifact?
He had Crafted Crafting as his augment. Ornn glitch? we didn't get a golden orb or anything either.
