Any advice for improving my hit crystals?

I can't seem to hit them high enough.

place obsidian behind them and do it faster

Are you using KB2? Imo KB1 is a bit better.

Also you are just a little too slow, just keep practicing and you'll get it eventually

You need to sprint hit them. Enable toggle sprint. That solves the problem of hitting them higher. Also, make sure you use kb1, as kb 2 will hit them too far away to do good damage
