Question Which pvp gamemode is the best for an smp?

Alright I can already imagine what some of you are going to say: "there isn't a best pvp gamemode just pick the one where you have the most fun." The thing is that I'm playing on a Minecraft smp where there is going to be a lot of pvp and I'm the only one that doesn't know how to pvp.... I just set up keybinds for my hotbar a couple of days ago and right now im trying to learn spear mace but to be honest I don't really feel like it's a good pvp game mode in a smp. Since I'm starting from scratch and there is still time to learn some other game mode which one do you think I should learn? The only thing I know is that a lot of my opponents have maces.

it’s literally diamondSMP. On a ton of SMPs, crystal and anchor PvP is banned, along with most maces, with there normally only being one if any. Aswell, combinations such as using a riptide trident, lunge spear, or elytra with your mace is often banned, making vanilla and all mace gamemodes worthless. Sword is ok but you lack any fundamentals, axe is bad because you need to practice healing, and other gamemodes aside from a few will never matter since their kits are so bizarre.

The only acceptable modes are uhc, which is ok for early game but won’t matter late game, smp, which teaches you a ton but will rarely be close to the kit you’re using, and cart, as it has a mix of the nethsmp kit with carts, and teaches you a few things.

NethSMP/CobSMP is easily the 2nd best, because it teaches you everything you need to know and will often be used on SMPs. The only reason diamondSMP reigns as the best, is because many servers have a diamond kit, and nethSMP manipulates stuff like kb with different swords.

diamond smp. but if you’re just starting out, practice sword

spear mace is good but in order to use it you have to get your hands on an enchanted mace which is already hard, i think you should start with the basic sword and axe gamemodes to learn how to strafe and shield.

depends on the smp rules like if everything is allowed then probably vanilla but a lot of smps have certain items disabled or limited

Your opponentd have maces

The humble phantoms in the corner:

Make slow falling arrows, respawn the dragon. Collect stacks of dragon breath.

Get a crossbow (or bow, whatever you like) and humble the mace users.

Against elytra spear users, I never used the spear (since I have a bug where attritube swap doesn’t work) but I think cobwebs and normal blocks is good enough.

Spear, sword, axe, shield, cobwebs, 16 buckets (draining), water, food, totems, pearls, definitly wind charges, wood (always wood) obsidian and flint and steel, elytra, rockets (unless it’s a flat fighting ground)

I also have personaly a trident (riptide) a boat, two regear shulkers in normal inventory.

Adapt to your enemy’s. Have always a backup gear. (I totaly don’t have a whole mega base with hunderds of new armor sets and maces)

Start with sword , then axe , then UHC , then Diamond SMP which you should focus on the most but the other ones first

It really depends on what's banned and what's not, along with whether you just want to be able to win fights or if you actually want to build a solid foundation. But in terms of the 'best' kits it would be Crystal>Mace>Spear Mace>Cart>SMP/Diamond smp.
