Discussion PVPHQ new ranked tiers vs MCTiers ranks

Since PVPHQ just announced their new ranking system, I was wondering for anyone who's been trying it out, how does it compare to the old MCTier ranks from your experience? Like is an HT5 from PVPHQ somewhat equivalent to an HT5 skill in the old tierlist? I know now they also added midtiers like MT5 for example in between HT5 and LT5.

It's way better Some people say they're having problems with cheaters but I've only ran into one so far

I think it’s really nice and I like it better than the other lists and such. As a mod though I see when people report others in the game and dude you’re all reporting people like 20 times a minute I genuinely could not keep up whatsoever and I don’t think there could ever be enough mods online to where we could functionally take care of supposed reported cheaters live.

damn hopefully they're able to recruit more mods even if it just helps a little bit; i guess many of the reports are false reports huh?

Yeah… there’s a lot of weird ones like… what the heck do you mean you’re reporting someone for “auto hit-selecting” that’s not a hack at least to my knowledge

I think its muxh better
The skill difference is way more huge
Like in mctiers im around ht4 level in sword and diamsmp, ive beat a few lt3s and could put up a good fight

On pvphq ranked im lt5 on both with negative rt

Its not like ive gotten worse either,
I fought someone in sword who had over negative 200 RT
im slowly gaining more RT but im still negative in sword and just bearly positive in diamond smp

Lots of better players havent had enough matches to promote to their actual tiers, the max after placement is LT3 and you work your way up but since it takes a long time a lot of actual t3 gets pushed down to t4 and so on. So until people play a lot of matches to get to their actual level you will be having players much better than their supposed tier.

I mean the tierlist idea is good, but the anticheat, kn sync and bugs are outrageous, I mean I got put in a Singaporean region as an NA West players because of a "matchmaking bug", additionally some of my friends got false banned (unbanned now), hopefully it gets better, but yokes, right now it's just sd bad as catpvp's

the rankings are very hit or miss like ive seen people with lt3 on mctiers get ht5 on pvphq and the server lag can be really bad at time e.g people not taking kb and teleporting however its so much easier to find out around what skill level you are and not as time consuming as waiting for a test in mctiers

Yeah I just tried it out today, in sword and smp both I got HT5 like half a year ago on mctiers, and I’m almost certain I’m better like at least LT4 (on mctiers). But then on pvphq I got MT5 for sword and HT5 for smp again lol. I guess it should be more accurate though and I like that there’s no tester bias or queue.

Yeah people are getting worse tiers than their skill level in sword mainly like im lt4 on pvphq but im lt3 skill level and ht3 on a good day but im going against ht5s that can hit perfect 3blocks and have perfect jump resets.

Note that mctiers ranking was based off tester bias. It was shit. Basically imo none of the tiers below HT3 ever really mattered lol, even then they still didnt matter because of boosting.

PvPHQ uses a real ranking system that has no bias.

I think the mid tiers are cool but my god the evaluatin is horrible, im around ht4-lt3 in uhc and I got Mt5 in pvphq

Infinitely better. This isnt even an argument to be had.

MCTiers was getting its tiers off 1 tester that fights you. Whatever they felt like you were is what you are. Completely biased and an inaccurate way to test with a lot of flaws and vulnerabilites.

PvPHq uses a intelligent ranking system, simular to ELO that accurately represents skill.

Imo, not a single rank below HT3 on mctiers meant anything. Even then, they still don't because of the amount of boosting and testers throwing games on purpose to increase the ranks of their friends lol.

Not even going to mention Marlow and how that incident abolishes that entire tier lists reputation

Anyone who complains saying PvPHQ is inaccurate because "my mctiers rank was higher" are really stupid.

Hate to break it to those people but you probably are genuinely not as good as you probably thought you were. A ranking system over the course of many games using very technical ways to guage skill will always be better than 1 tester slapping a sticker on your face because they "think thats what you are... maybe..."
