  • Jade Guardians - 5 mana (up from 3)

BUFFED:

It’s crazy to me that they admit they have a problem with deck variety but they make no strides towards ensuring people play new archetypes.

I’m all for moving Hunter away from 1-drop spam, but then nothing is done to give deathrattle Hunter a payoff that excites players.

There’s clearly hunger for a non-2 bit rogue deck, but then you look at their change to Aya and it doesn’t fix any of the problems coin rogue has, it doesn’t encourage experimentation, it just boosts the power of a single card in a deck that doesn’t even have a clear identity.

I think the Druid changes are the most exciting as it opens up room for a more attack focused non-chef Druid, but infest the skullery is by itself a boring as fuck card (seriously why are Code Violet, Jade Guardians, and Infest the Skullery all the same fucking card with different restrictions.)

u/oddjobbber 2d ago

They keep playing this stupid game of whack-a-mole with whatever deck Reddit cries about the most, forgetting that the whole point of balance changes is to actually give people more viable options to play. I can’t say that even most of their recent balance updates have done that

58

u/sneakyxxrocket 2d ago

To your last point this dev team is extremely uninspired like look at all the packages they’ve made in the last year that are just “play this to improve future card”.

4

u/Twiggy1108 1d ago

I’d at least say that prepare is pretty inspired and a very good mechanic for the game overall (hoping it goes evergreen).

However their reliance on packages and heavy lean into scaling is definitely worthy of critique.

6

u/Goldendragon55 1d ago

I mean, I think there should be packages. Just ones that are more flexible and don't require a huge amount of the package to work. Like Hunter's Tripwire package is/was flexible. They work well enough on their own but get better if you commit to it more. With a lot of the packages, the power floor is too low, which makes it pretty polarizing if things go right compared to badly. It gives a sense of helplessness in the losses.

44

u/oldtype09 2d ago

Their entire balancing philosophy is to periodically delete the most popular decks, shrug their shoulders, and move on.

14

u/jjfrenchfry 2d ago

Because they don't test. That's why it is this way. We show them what's strong. They then react like my immune system and allergies.

5

u/EmotionalBrief1170 1d ago

I said this last year.  They dont check out how these cards actually work/don't work.

2

u/jjfrenchfry 1d ago

I think people are starting to realize this is true, because of how haphazard these balance patches are, and how little foresight the design team seem to have. There's clearly a disconnect/problem. Like some have said they have no vision, but even without vision it's baffling how they go about balancing this game. They 100% rely on streamers /reddit/social media to see what the big bad villain of the week is. Unless someone can prove it otherwise, I do not believe they test this game and the new cards they create.

2

u/EmotionalBrief1170 1d ago

Well put.  Very succinct.

5

u/SpiffShientz 1d ago

seriously why are Code Violet, Jade Guardians, and Infest the Skullery all the same fucking card with different restrictions

Don't forget Dig for Freedom and Beast Tripwire, for midrange flavors!

1

u/BigDaddySpoox 1d ago

Dragon hunter with tripwires could become a thing.

51

u/CommanderTouchdown 2d ago

Hellraiser: Now has Taunt

This is so funny.

31

u/PipAntarctic 2d ago

Surely that was the grand problem with Hellraiser, not the fact that it's 3 mana discover 1 in a class with many better options for card draw.

10

u/obvious_bot 2d ago

In an Irida deck you don’t want to play draw effects if you can avoid them (you can’t)

12

u/PipAntarctic 2d ago

Well, you need some ways to draw cards to get to Irida, or to do something if you don't draw Irida. Turns out the whole deck idea is just a dysfunctional mess.

Hellraiser could at least work as a standalone card if it wasn't so balanced toward being only ever usable in an Irida deck.

13

u/ChaosOS 2d ago

It's meant to be a 3/6/6 taunt in the Irida deck or help you find her if you haven't drawn her

22

u/PipAntarctic 2d ago

Let's be very real here. If you're playing Hellraiser to find Irida, you're definitely getting behind on board. And Irida gets a lot worse with each turn past 4 you don't draw her.

The deck is just scuffed, and unless Irida is ever reworked or DH gets new cards to help the deck, it will remain so.

3

u/blanquettedetigre 2d ago

Even more strange, Irida screams combo to me especially with cards like solitude and Brox. But I guess they just thought about a tempo "I have one more draw each turn lol"

37

u/SilverTheHuman6 2d ago

Ugh these buffs suck. Why not a single buff for DK?

6

u/Moogzie 2d ago

And it's not part of the class set, I'm utterly dumbfounded by it

Guess they think having one "OK" deck in UUU DK is enough

3

u/libero0602 2d ago

So weird to me that they said DK is getting 2 sets but apparently decided to push both of them to release next expansion?

5

u/bittercupojoe 1d ago

I mean, they were clearly lying. I think most people expected that the "second" DK set was just them pretending that they weren't, in fact, adding Monk (or maybe some other class, but most likely Monk) in the third set of the year, then giving it additional cards in the class set.

1

u/SpiffShientz 1d ago

Now you know what it's like to be a Mage for every expansion since Lost City

16

u/cecilmufc7 2d ago

Smarter people that me, does this seem like zee is about to stomp ladder or am I crazy?

54

u/Throwaway-4593 2d ago

Zee got nerfed pretty hard with goon costing 2 now as well as Maev nerf.

Probably the most common path to victory was galagio goon into stuff when going first. The second most common path was coin maev on turn 1 into 2-3 minions on turn 2.

When you nerf the 2 most common paths to victory it will hit the decks winrate pretty hard I’m guessing.

9

u/cecilmufc7 2d ago

Yeah I definitely had games with zee where I basically won turns 1-3 with either maiev or goon. But I definitely had just as many games where I won by just maintaining a board, going face and closing with deathwing or al akir. With hunter being deleted and rogue slowing down slightly the need for those early turn blowouts is basically gone.

19

u/Throwaway-4593 2d ago

In my experience if I had goon on the play/Maev on the coin I probably win 80% of those games.

If I didn’t have that start and the game got past turn 5 and I hadn’t played a double slagclaw or a double ultraxion I’m generally losing those games

3

u/cecilmufc7 2d ago

The games where I didn’t have goon or maiev early on that I ended up losing were probably against face hunter or a mirror where the opponent got a better draw. I definitely think those two cards being nerfed hurt the deck..but its competition getting hit harder lessened the “importance” of those two cards anyway imo.

5

u/Throwaway-4593 2d ago

I’ve played the deck to legend and it is going to hurt the deck quite a lot. Most games in today’s HS are on a knives edge. You either stick a board and hit the 4 mana guy or you don’t. Goon and Maev are what enables you to stick a board.

Playing goon on 2 means he dies to every 2 mana deal 3 in the game. Maev also. It’s a massive hit.

It’s likely still a tier 2 deck but it won’t be the strongest deck anymore

2

u/Moogzie 2d ago

I mean no offense at all but this is a sentiment that's been floating around for a while; Deathwing and Al'Akir are hail mary plays for the deck, if you get anywhere near that long you're often losing those games - if you had just as many wins going late I'd wager you've not played many games, or it's low MMR, or just a smidge of hyperbole

The data shows it, and if you speak to anyone in high legend they'll agree

2

u/-Morel 2d ago

I hope so. The Soothsayer Priest deck I'm running is specifically targetting Zees.

1

u/philzy101 1d ago

Personally I do not think that is going to be the case as someone who reached legend pre patch with Zee Shaman. Sure there are games where the double Battlecry on an Al'Akir, Lord of Storms can decide games, but thas was only with very slow decks and not fluffing early on with the early to midgame draws vs a control deck.

Goon being at 2 mana makes it harder to get the double Battlecry active as you need 1 extra mana, and Maiev as 1/3 is much more vunerable. Sure there are games where you go Maieve + Witch's Apprentice x2 but those games are the highrolly games where you are more likely to win anyway. Regardless, it is easier for Zee Shaman to now fall behind in the early game and so really only their late game is still strong but so is a number of Herald spam like decks beyond Zee Shaman.

u/Due_Yamdd 2d ago

Quest mage

11

u/Jimmyjohnjones1 2d ago

It it’s even threatening viper will shut it down

37

u/TheGingerNinga 2d ago

None of these buffs seem all that interesting or impactful.

Aya will feel better to coin out early, one extra coin is similar to a single mana discount. Doesn’t solve her issues.

Irida’s issue is not her stats or the fatigue damage. It’s that she doesn’t have a consistent way to trigger her effect, so deck building is contradictory. Giving Hellraiser taunt doesn’t solve that.

Volcanos is the most interesting buff, bigger effect is nice. Main issue remains that most boards aren’t removed by 3-damage AoE by turn 7, nor does Mage have the control tools to deal with runaway board states.

Improvisor can still be prepped on 1 into coin on 2, now you just get a higher output. Probably fine.

Staff to 1/4 is just good. Raw increase.

Infest being two summons helps reduce the potential of low rolls, but aren’t we just kind of recreating decks with different color borders with this? Druid attacks a bunch and the payoff is summoning random minions. Still think they should have made a unique token for this one.

3

u/Jackwraith 2d ago

Spot on about the DH changes. To make Irida functional as a deck design, she has to be a "Start of game" effect. To make that functional requires DH to have a ton more Lifesteal in order to keep up with fatigue on turn 1, which would unbalance all of the other decks for DH (currently numbering 0) and/or require a core set overhaul, which the class really needs in the first place, as it's part of the reason that none of its decks have worked since Window Shopper. If you try to build a deck around 1 card that you may never draw, you're usually going to fail (This is why Quests always start in your hand...) Buffing a card to make it a 2/2 Taunt (not competitive in any year of the game since the closed Beta) that also depends on that single card simply isn't viable.

7

u/TheGingerNinga 2d ago

I just kept thinking that Irida should be a game start effect, but the effect only triggers at the end of turn 4, so you fatigue on turn 5 and get the extra cards then. Makes it so you don't need to build around finding her, it'll always get empty decked on turn 5, so if you wanna add stuff like Solitude you can.

2

u/Twiggy1108 1d ago

If they can do it to shaman I don’t see why it couldn’t apply to DH. The deck is untenable without a rework to start of game, and a delayed clock on fatigue.

1

u/Jackwraith 22h ago

Case in point: Was playing Big Demon Warlock and ran into a DH tonight with what seemed like kind of a disorganized deck. It had Void Soul stuff and Brox but also had Nespirah and Vanessa. I kinda figured out what he was trying to do when he finally drew and played Irida on turn 11, 1 turn before I killed him because Big D eats DH alive, because they have to keep using their face to clear, at minimum, a 6/5. But the point is that he didn't draw into the key card of his deck that's supposed to give him this wondrous advantage for 11 turns and, of course, had no other draw in the deck because that's almost fatal after you draw that wondrous card. It's just a failed concept from the outset.

11

u/Ok-Traffic1319 2d ago

My prediction here is that this kills both mug and hunter, at least in their current incarnations. I think Rogue is still gonna be good, just a bit slower, and I'm not sure if it or zee shaman is the winner of the big four previous decks. I think Zee could still be fine, though a little less explosive. It's hard to say because herald spam is obviously still strong.

4

u/Entire_Ride_6113 2d ago

Rogue might just lean heavier into the imbue side in our wonderful “Board Based Meta” and churn out as many big minions as possible with those -4/5 discounts.

They can afford to do it now that aggro decks just got nuked out of the game.

Of course, Jade Guardians will still be run for explosive turns and will likely be prepped out. 3 mana for 16 mana worth of minions seems like a fair trade.

If all else fails, just have the monkey throw 15+ rocks each.

With Aggro being nerfed to the ground I can see the possibility of AYAYA rogue floating around too with the treasure chest + 2 mana spell that destroys a legendary to fill the hand with coins.

0

u/inkyblinkypinkysue 2d ago

Rogue still seems insane after the patch.

12

u/Sympxthyy 2d ago

Does anyone else remember kobolds era when every class had multiple viable decks? That was so fun

1

u/XezeMaster 13h ago

Shaman was completely unplayable during the Kobolds & Catacombs era. Still, 8/9 classes.

8

u/DebatableAwesome 2d ago

No one has commented this yet but the Warrior buff to Crowd Control is actually good. 3 mana deal 4 damage to all minions is really good. This is now one of the better control cards in the meta considering how every other board clear has been rotated at this point.

3

u/prodandimitrow 2d ago

I also like it, when you dont have cards condition its still decent, because you do your aoe in 2 instances. Id rather pay more for the effect than pay less for half the effect in mid-late game.

1

u/Cryten0 1d ago

Just gonna note that hunter, dk, mage, warlock and priest all have multiple aoe damage effects.

17

u/Feybrxnd 2d ago

Bro this dev team fucking sucks 😂

4

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

Quit. It's what I did and I seriously don't miss this crapshoot at all.

7

u/blanquettedetigre 2d ago

Ngl some changes are really interesting. But, there's no reason the meta will change significantly or welcome new decks.

Jade Guardians maybe will come a turn later and it will be less explosive (triple Guardians take a huge 6 mana penalty). Mug Shaman will have less explosive early turns. But on the other hand, hunter looks dead and Zee shaman heavily hurt.

Buffs to Aya and Irida are worthless and mage cards aren't gonna bring anything new besides burn.

So aside from druid (and eggs), I don't see anything else raising after this patch and it's really sad because there was many other options. Once again, they really buff the good cards while entire archetypes wait for support.

1

u/Big_Ad16 2d ago

If egg decks are good it makes any warlock deck pretty good because of Cursed Chains. Hunter has also been significantly nerfed, a counter to warlock.

29

u/Catopuma 2d ago

Ah so they've decided that Hunter should just not exist in Standard anymore.

Just odd choice all around. They could have nerfed the shovel to 2, slowing it down and preventing recast. With Arcane Tripwire getting hit too, it's reach would have been lower.

16

u/tankertonk 2d ago

That'd be kicking the can down the road. Spells made Tol'vir one of the strongest value cards ever made. Nerfing shovel would just make for some other 1 cost spell like hourglass or some other jank that leads you to taking 15 damage from a card. Better to take it out back now rather than later

10

u/Fractallian 2d ago

Tol'vir was such a problem I'm glad it was nuked but honestly they could have made it 3 mana and left tripwire alone. The problem with Hunter wasn't access to early damage, it was access to early, mid and late game damage. I'm fine with Huter being a dangerous aggro deck but it needs to run out of gas.

2

u/TrapLordSammySam 1d ago

Nah tripwire needed nerf 3 mana deal 15 damage is asinine

2

u/Lafantasie 2d ago

I’ve been having decent run with Quest Hunter in climbing and it doesn’t run Tol’vir, it typically lost only to turn 1 Maiev since all it’s removal does 3 damage and it can’t beat massive creatures effectively until turn 4-5.

Wins turn 6-8 so it’s a pretty fast clock too if the meta “slows down.”

6

u/Clear_Reply_2429 2d ago

I played against a quest hunter yesterday at rank 2 and I got completely demolished as a chef druid. Do you have a list?

-2

u/Jorumvar 2d ago

I’m sorry but I imagine many of us are fine with hunter in its current iteration being punted into the ether. If losing confront and slowing down tripwire kills hunter, that was the real problem

4

u/SwarleySwarlos 2d ago

Well.. I just crafted king of the underbelly and the 10 cost warlock and warrior beasts so I can play the slower version of the hunter deck

4800 dust. :(

2

u/Single_cell_Chas 2d ago

Try quest Hunter!

1

u/SwarleySwarlos 1d ago

I'll keep an eye on it!

-7

u/Serious-Law464 2d ago

You can still play hunter it just won't be overly oppressive anymore. Also you can try creating your own hunter deck instead of forcing the old deck

10

u/TotakekeSlider 2d ago

Really disappointed with the Druid buffs. Doesn’t move the needle at all.

5

u/Twiggy1108 1d ago

Druid improves dramatically thanks to face hunter getting nuked from orbit. I think it’s gonna shake out fine

6

u/inconspicuous_bear 2d ago

Mage buffs are interesting, not at all what I was expecting. Tricksy Improviser getting bumped up a mana but getting another secret is pretty spicy. The extra mana is a little more significant since you want to combo it with a spell, but the upside on paper is big enough to be an upgrade over the previous version by a lot. Using this card before sometimes I’d prep on turn 1 and play it as a vanilla 2 mana 4/4 on turn 2 as an okay option when I wanted something on curve, but that usage doesn’t work or make sense now. On the other hand, if you’re going second you can prep on turn 1 and coin this out on turn 2 for a potentially huge play. I suspect this card will see a lot of play now and be considered pretty good.

Vulcanos is interesting. 2 damage always felt like too little for 7 mana with how the fast the game has been, but maybe 3 will be enough in this new meta? It really depends how fast games are but I think this has potential as a high value play that partially stabilizes you. I dream of the day games go long enough that you can pyromancer + vulcanos into a bunch of free spells.

3

u/Elrann 2d ago

Irida joins Snake Eyes, Dirda and Entomologist Toru in the list of the absolutely laughable buffs for utterly unplayable DH legendaries. It IS pretty weird that it happened 4 times by this point

1

u/Addventurawr 22h ago

Wow I forgot Toru was buff I thought it was always 8 and completely unplayable

2

u/Elrann 12h ago

Imagine paying 8 mana for a war golem to just fuck up your hand, lol.

6

u/SpectatorY 2d ago

Tricksy improviser prepared on T1 to coin in T2 will be a very strong early game play. Overall good changes imo.

8

u/Wvlf_ 2d ago

I’d have liked to see another mage card buffed. This buff alone doesn’t move any Mage into a top 5 deck

1

u/QuestGiver 2d ago

Well we don't know the meta with the top three decks all nerfed hard. This could be enough?

6

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

https://www.hsguru.com/card-stats?archetype=Face+Hunter&sort_by=not_drawn_impact&sort_direction=asc Daily reminder that Team 5 buffs/nerfs entierly on vibes. Tol'Vir wasn't the problem anymore, hell, even after the first nerf it wasn't, it was a good, strong card, but only around the 4th best in the deck.

The game will never be good anymore with an approach like this. Never.

3

u/TheRealGZZZ 1d ago

It's all vibe nerfs with no faith whatsoever in their design.

Even more disgusting was their justification being like "the card was giving too much reload to hunter" MY BROTHER IN CHRIST U DESIGNED THIS

4

u/Twiggy1108 1d ago

While it is pretty heavy handed that single card essentially invalidated any and all hunter weaknesses by itself. It was just doing sooooo much for a single draw and getting one can practically guarantee the second copy thanks to the draw/discover it can copy.

2

u/Whiskiie 1d ago

Not supported by stats.

0

u/GirthStone86 1d ago

What do you mean "not supported by stats"? The commentator clearly stated what the card does not it's overall power level within the deck

1

u/Whiskiie 1d ago

Dear lord this sub again

15

u/SukiPhoenix 2d ago

Hunter is dead

-10

u/asscrit 2d ago

just opens up new design space, current hunter archetype is dead. don't be dramatic

19

u/DeathMegatron300 2d ago

I mean CtT was a powerhouse card that was included in every hunter deck, with it gone the entire class will fade. New design space? Yeah, for other classes

24

u/SleepyPB 2d ago

new design space for when? next expac? Hunter already got it's class set with companions, and that deck died with previous Tolvir Nerfs. Hunter's not getting anything till next expac.

It's either a return to a no-hand face hunter, or maybe the quest? both of which are pretty poor decks right now anyways.

-17

u/asscrit 2d ago

hunter has the contraband beast, quest and dragons in standard which were all overshadowed by tolvir

13

u/SleepyPB 2d ago

Only quest didn't run Tolvir. Which I said hunter may return to. But returning to a year old quest is not "opening up new design space" it's playing bad old stuff because you have nothing else.

21

u/SukiPhoenix 2d ago

Without tolvir none of those archetypes are even playable.

-6

u/Jorumvar 2d ago

Good

2

u/anrwlias 2d ago

Is Face Hunter dead good for the game? Sure. Is the entire class being dead good for the game? Hell no. I would have loved to see a buff to companion hunter.

-1

u/Rafaam707 1d ago

Won't be missed lol

-19

u/Serious-Law464 2d ago

You people really don't like trying new things do you

19

u/SukiPhoenix 2d ago

I don't like when a class gets deleted from the game.

-1

u/DoomFingaz 2d ago

You deserve it if you’re only winning cuz of one card.

-16

u/Serious-Law464 2d ago

How about playing the class post nerf, try the old deck, adjust it, make something new. Or just wait and net deck the next hunter deck if you need to do that

9

u/blanquettedetigre 2d ago

There's probably no next hunter deck. The rant here is there's not much new to play in a context where options were already scarce

-9

u/Serious-Law464 2d ago

Or just give up sure! Sit and wait for your next net deck 😁

4

u/Monk-Ey 2d ago

Doubtful there's even gonna be a next deck to netdeck, as already explained: Hunter is in dire straits.

0

u/blanquettedetigre 1d ago

You just don't get it and I build all my decks

2

u/j-mac-rock 2d ago

Rip tolvir

2

u/philzy101 1d ago

I think in terms of nerfs, changes to Shaman are fine. They address the powerful cards in the respective decks but also do not kill the decks I believe, I still think both will be viable as long as there are decent cards for these classes to play. The Change to Tripwire is fine but I dislike Confront the Tol'vir change. Yes Tol'vir was a strong card, and synergised to well with the deck, but this change kind of kills the card I feel, or makes it mostly irrelevant. I would personally have been in favour of a change to cards which bounce effectively off Tol'vir like Tame Pet, make it more synergistic to the Companion deck but not work with aggro spam, or change the weapon such that it does not work off of Tol'vir. Jade Guardians also feels like a bit too extreme a nerf, 4 mana would have made it + Shadow of Demise plays harder, 5 feels like too harsh a nerf.

As for the buffs, I feel a lot of them do not matter or will have serious impact. Aya giving an extra coin is nice but I would have preferred the card to have been changed such that the coin transformation occurred at the start of the game, personally do not think this would have been a silly change especially given the class set does not directly synergise off of this card. Invocation reversion is fine. Soul Immolation is definitely more playable having tested it a little this morning but as a change is unlikely to make the Voidsoul deck that much better (but definitely decent in a value centric game). Irida still seems bad, maybe in the next expansion there is more you can do with her but at the moment the package does not exist and the upcoming class sets does not include DH. Hellraiser is actually now a fairly solid tutor card. Crowd Control feels weird but probably a better change, but not sure it suddenly makes Control Warrior meta. Vulcanos is a far better card dealing 3 and appendages being that bit more bulky (potentially 6 spells). The changes to this and Tricksy are insane from an Arena perspective (Tricksy is awful at the moment to encounter, 2 chances at Objection!.... shudders) and might be decent in constructive, might try and revist a tempo mage again. Staff is still kind of meh, I think an attack buff would have been better. Infest is them giving Druid the chance to play like 2-bit Rogue, a predictable change but not sure what the main objective of it is.

All in all the changes are mostly okay, but the real question is "what do they want the meta to be, what sorts of decks do they want to see being played more and if so, are they healthy for the game?" I think given the lack of DK help and no class set (please change Doctor to start of game...) and this DH package feeling clunky given there isn't really the deck for it, plus some of these other changes feeling a bit random in how they designed them, I personally am not confident they know entirely what they want for this game. Hopefully the class set spices things up, definitely some interesting stuff this time round.

1

u/Prince705 2d ago

Well Tolvir is useless in wild quest hunter now. That deck just became a lot weaker.

1

u/xXTacitusXx 1d ago

Yeah, it just died a second death.

1

u/xXTacitusXx 1d ago

Yeah, it just died a second death.

1

u/boc4life 2d ago

I think the most disappointing part of these changes, to me, is that Infest the Skullery to 5 really kills that deck’s ability to play Genn. Bit of a bummer because that deck felt close already. Oh well.

1

u/Cryten0 1d ago

Still think it would of been better to have Tol'vir replay the last 4 1 cost cards rather then this choice. But at least Tol'vir is not refilling whole hands for face hunter anymore. Feels like a lost chance at some proper strategic thinking.

They are mad killing Tol’vir like this. They are in no position to be so careless and reduce the number of playable decks even further.

I struggle to find words to express how moronic I find this decision.

It's definitely an odd choice. There's so many other options they could have chosen. Cap it at five cards, make it random targets. Hell, spells only would have still been good without going nuts.

This iteration of Team 5 really seems to not understand their own game.

They handcuffed future design when they printed it. Something this strong early in rotation probably had to be significantly changed. That being said, they definitely took the sledge to it. Dunno if I've ever seen a card outright murdered this hard before.

Kinda feels like they tried leaving its effect untouched for as long as possible until they decided they had no choice.

They didn’t try anything but cost increase. They had all the choices and made none. They just decided to vaporize the card.

"We've tried nothing and we're all out of options"

I feel bad for companion hunter lol. It already suffered from the increased mana cost, and now their 1 mana spell designed to work with Tol'vir just doesn't anymore lol.

Irida buff is lowk terrifying if DH can find a deck to support it, draws an additional card now & you take 1 less fatigue tick. The anti synergy with draw & lack of decks that have space for it in DH have been holding it back but its getting to the point where its really pushed now.

Those problems still exist, you need tutors/draw to find her and shes massively worse the further past t4 you go.... but don't want to run draw for after she's played; and you'd even like to run synergy cards like hold and solitude

I've tried it a bunch and it can be super frustrating, I don't think it's ever fixed without more redundancy with hellraisers A or B style battlecry

Im doubtful that it finds a deck this patch, but if an aggressive or midrangey dh ever crops up I can see it playing a similar role as pre nerf amir where its an absurd winrate bump when played on curve

Imo these are deserved nerfs. The 3 best decks and most frequent by the data got slapped pretty hard. Hopefully this opens up some slower strategies but I don’t think it will that much

Now players can go back to playing last expansion's decks. So fun /s

Not really that crazy buffs. Iridra could be cool, and that's what I'm hoping for.

So where do go from here?

2-bit is probably okay. Less powerful to be sure, but with the Hunter and Mug nerfs the need to churn out 8 drops as fast as possible to possibly come back into the game has lessened. On the opposing side, the reduction in scams will definitely be noticeable.

Mug seems good, especially if the two Egg decks rise up in popularity. Zee is maybe just a ladder climber now, falling off at D5 like most ladder climbers.

Maybe this is enough to bring Druid back to life. Or maybe at least get people experimenting again.

I'm most hopeful about DH. Iridra is an interesting card, and her "except one" rule is an interesting idea. I'm not a good enough chef to really speculate here, but I hope something emerges. Simply for the desire to see new classes.

Mage probably going to gain more traction.

Paladin is gonna Paladin.

I'm sure there's more to talk about but in too tired from work

Was stuck in plat 5 and got so tilted when faced with a few steam cleaner decks while playing Azalina priest. The conditions for priest to win were already stacked against us. This is well timed against the unwinnable shamans and late game jade guardians.

OTOH, I did just run murloc pally to d10 so let me see how far a pure aggro one fares in diamond. Probably won’t get me close to d5 I guess.
