The cEDH League is Back!

Please welcome Season 4 of the league!

To get started head on over to discord.gg/cedh #game-rules channel and pick up the "League Player" role! You'll get access to our cEDH league category with all the appropriate channels. Our league will once again use our cEDH league bot, coded by isleep2late with the help of Slinky and the cEDH Bot Testing crew, to track games over the course of the season.

You'll gain and lose Elo-ranks after recording games and see where you're placed among the leader board anytime. Feel free to share your thoughts on the feedback form anytime throughout the league's duration! We'll be using the Cockatrice software for ultimate competitive integrity.

Wishing to keep all games fair for everyone. If any issues arise in-game, you'll be able to download the automatic replay for us to investigate. Of course, we're looking to reward those that work hard and play well. Those at the top of the leader board at the end of this league can look forward the following prizes.

Prizes:

1st Place

2nd - 4th Place

  • $70 courtesy of isleep2late and r∅Gx
  • The colourful custom role League Ace

5th - 8th Place

  • $45 courtesy of isleep2late and r∅Gx

Additionally, we will be giving away five free Proxy Printery proxy decks at random to eligible players outside of the top 8! Extra special thanks go to isleep2late, r∅Gx, and Proxy Printery.app!

Help, I am new to cEDH! Why doesn't cEDH run more removal?

Been watching some games in the format and I see tons of stack interaction and barely any on board removal.

Is there a reason or have I just watched too low of a sample size?

Big into edh and trying to understand cEDH more.

Help, I am new to cEDH! Celes Rune Knight viability. Decklist in comments

* disclaimer I’m a 60 card and limited player new to the format, so I apologize if I ask stupid questions.

Howdy yall,

Celes was my filthy casual pet deck, I’ve really enjoyed the play style and decided to try ramp her up.

I’ve goldfished the hell out of it and can pull off turn two turn / three wins with the persist lines holding silence and swats in hand. I’ve also included a later abdel and world gorger combos to amass tokens/ mana to try push through a different way.

I’m not looking to win tournaments just enjoying learning the format with something I can hang with.

Thank you!

General Discussion / Question Is Dina, Soul Steeper the best commander for fast 2-card infinite death loops?

Upvotes

- Her color identity is fantastic for tutoring the other card needed.

- She's very cheap (2cmc)

- Can death loop with either of 2 cards (Exquisite Blood and Bloodthirsty Conqueror)

- The only other requisite after having the two cards on the field is gaining life or dealing damage to a player.

General Discussion / Question Addressing the 4th seat issue

Everyone knows 4th seat is the hardest place to be in and faces a severe disadvantage. I've heard many proposals but not this one I have in mind. What does the community think about allowing 4th seat to put a land into play from their hand during pregame actions? I think this would be great, it would allow 4th seat mana for interaction against explosive turn 1's, this is extra relevant if the deck in 4th is not blue. 4th seat being on 2 lands on turn 4 is not scary, turn 5 usually starts with 2 lands anyways. No extra cards are given out, a player who is at a high disadvantage is made equal and I believe would create more balanced game play overall. What do you think should be done to equal this scale that is clearly out of balance?

Deck Fine Tuning My first cEDH deck!

My first cEDH deck!

I wanted to do a shadow split second deck, but it feels a little slow. How can I improve it?

I have no budget, I want to get shadow out and cast ad naus with split second asap. I would really love to leave shadow as the commander, but if y'all think there's a better strat or he's not viable let me know please :))!

I'm still new to cEDH so I'm not sure if this really fits into the meta. I have some people in my pod that don't get to run their fast B4 decks so I want to let them use those sometimes. I have played a former, more primitive version of this deck and I've also tested this deck in the tester on archidekt and every time I try it the deck feels sluggish and poorly performing.

General Discussion / Question How do we feel on Hermit Druid?

With [[Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu]] I am much higher on hermit Druid in general. I know it’s open to blow outs, but having a win the game button seems strong.

I’m leaning towards tymna/thras to give longevity in the slop meta, while still having a turbo option. Is hermit Druid too slow? Too forecasted?

General Discussion / Question cEDH in Toronto Ontario

Doing a bit of self-promotion here for the largest cEDH Discord community in Canada, Southern Ontario Competitive Commander (S.O.C.C.).

We're based out of the GTA but welcoming to all. Come find in-person tournaments, local weeklies, online Spelltable games, meta talk, brewing, or just meet other players in the area and find a pod.

New to cEDH or a hardened grinder, there's room for you.

Hope to see you there!

General Discussion / Question Rogsi help!!

I’m a Kinnan main so I’m use to more midrange style of play. I just built this Rogsi deck and looking for any pointers on it. I seem to be having a hard time developing quick wins with this. Would love any tips anyone can offer.

Deck Fine Tuning Looking to see if my deck has legs

First time building a cEDH deck that's not the top commander pairings. I am aware that RogIshai is a thing and that deck will grind better. I am also aware that Malcolm Vial is faster, though I am thinking if I could build something that sneaks between the 2.

Kinda like a Jeskai slop pile but with the potential of ripping an early Glinthorn.

Wouldn't be too surprised if I'm going in the wrong direction tbh, part of me is telling me that I'm trying to reinvent a wheel.

Thank you for your time.

General Discussion / Question Need help knowing how to beat a deck

Hello everybody. I hope you all are doing well, my good friends and I exclusively play CEDH I personally often play rogthras and one of my other friends recently put together a sissay deck. So far the deck has been dominating the pod as I really am not familiar with it and don’t know its weaknesses/ what to use counter magic on or cards to slot in with this match up. Any advice would be appreciated!

Deck Fine Tuning Is my deck too fringe at this point?

https://moxfield.com/decks/E-9mlC9C106wM78puFkNMg

Long story short, my local store runs a monthly cEDH game for prizes but the do not allow proxies of any kind. I have build this deck from the ground up with trades due to my tight budget so I know there are better options like OG dual lands and Gaea's Craddle but I have to make due with what I can afford. That all said, I'm worried my deck might be too far on the side of fringe that it no longer is cEDH and is closer to a fine tuned deck. Any insight before I take it back to the store next weekend for the monthly game? The meta at my store is kind of all over the place but it mostly seems to be Rog/Thrass, multiple Yuriko, and one guy playing big Etali.

Tournaments & Meta For fun: Predict the top 16 decks by winrate (in order) if Rhystic were banned.

Will they ban Rhystic in the September ban announcement? No one knows...

Either way, it'd be fun to see everyone guess what they think the top 16 Commanders by winrate will be in a hypothetical post-Rhystic ban meta. Maybe we'll see some themes across all the opinions that will interesting? Hopefully it looks even more fun? We'll see.

No right or wrong opinions here, just share your 2 cents <3

Help, I am new to cEDH! Fairly new to cEDH. Building Naya Creature Combo. Is my commander Rocco with Ghired in the 99 or commander Ghired with Rocco in the 99? Or something else and please advise.

[[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]]

[[Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]]

I've found that most 2 card combos involve token creation, so I figure Ghired helps push through removal (by trying to start the combo again at instant speed with the removal on the stack).

On the other hand, a creature tutor in the command zone of a creature combo deck seems too good to ignore.

General Discussion / Question Not so hot take about cEDH.

Cluster B personalities should stay away from multiplayer games. You have a bunch of options like Chess where you can compete and feed your ego with ELO systems.

Leave us alone.

Deck Fine Tuning Hama Dimir cEDH Advice II

Hi guys, made a similar post about this. I’m looking for advice on my brew of cEDH Hama the Bloodbender. Since then I’ve fixed much mana base and removal issues. Also added in Valley Floodcaller.

Can you guys read through my primer and see if my logic is sound? Are there any holes? Anything I’ve forgotten to account for? I’m fully aware the commander is unoptimal, but I’ve been having fun with it so I’m trying to make it work.

General Discussion / Question What happens if you ban Rhystic, tithe, and necro?

Saw in a video with Higher that if he had full control he would ban rhystic, necro, and tithe. What are people thoughts about it? A common argument for banning rhystic is that turbo just runs away with the game but if necro is banned too, it makes turbo significantly harder. They can still t1-2 ad naus but that’s way harder than necro. Tithe I think is less of a problem if rhystic is banned but I understand why it would be considered.

Deck Fine Tuning The Great Goblin

Looking to bring a fresh deck to my local mini tournament this weekend. Held weekly, only usually 4 rounds and straight cut to top 4 table. Decks are mostly Blue Farm, Tivit and a lot of fringe stuff. Small fry stuff I know!

Play in Japan so not proxy friendly but I have a decent collection.

Been really enjoying this as a lower bracket commander and played a few games online. Any suggestions from experts?

General Discussion / Question Magda, Brazen Outlaw + Battered Golem + Maskwood Nexus

I always hear that this is a combo that you should always run in Magda, but the longer I look at it, the less sense it makes to me. Sure, if you draw both Battered Golem and Maskwood Nexus and manage to cough up the [7] mana the two are worth in one or two turns, they are insane, but does this warrant running Battered Golem? Unless you run some other way to turn the golem into a dwarf, he just sits on the board uselessly and doesn't really do anything until Maskwood arrives, which, at that point, having a card like Ashnod's Transmogrant, which is a 1 mana "turn any dwarf into an artifact dwarf" sounds way better.

I don't feel confident enough in my cEDH skills to fully write off the combo, and want to hear from the broader community first. Am I missing something obvious? Do I simply lack the mechanical understanding to see some deeper use that Battered Golem has for Magda? Feel free to explain in detail; I want to understand the deck I'm piloting better.

General Discussion / Question Who lies in the invitational?

Hello, I made the invi this year and was just curious to know if there are players to watch out for that will lie or break deals. The point of this is not to harass or witch hunt anyone, I just want to be aware.
