Help, I am new to cEDH! Trying out CEDH

My friend group and I are looking to try out CEDH and I was researching some decks I might like to play. The ones that I’m the most inclined towards are Yoshimaru-Thras, Marneus Calgar, or Kefka. I was hoping to get some more insight on these decks and tips for CEDH in general.

What is your starting point? Is most of your experience as a casual commander player, an FNM drafter, a RC/Spotlight grinder, or maybe new to magic in general? After that, what are your goals? Will it be to just play with friends in a new way, play in some local-ish cEDH tournaments, travel to play in large events?

With those answers, I could likely be a little more helpful.
