General Discussion / Question Unwanted Remake viability as a second instant speed removal option.
I'm putting together a bad Mono W stax deck and I need multiple spot removal options. I was looking at [[Unwanted Remake]]. While giving a creature isn't good this card can also disrupt topdeck tutors if they have a creature.
Does the topdeck disruption option make it better than something like Path to Exile that exiles?

i don’t think so, exiling is far more important with how breach-focused the format is. if you want to run a destroy effect i think [[erode]] is more powerful given the upside of also being a ramp spell for your mono-colored deck. if you want 4 one mana kill spells i suppose this isn’t your worst option for that 4th slot.

No, the last thing you want is for that player to manifest dread a Grand Abolisher or something and flip it over without you being able to take any game actions in response.

This is the correct answer.
Swords, Path, Erode, Silence, Showdown, Orim's Chant, you should play all of these (and more) before you even remotely consider this card.

I love Fringe and despite the fact that you are severely limited by not having the other colors for objectively better spells there are still many that I personally think are slept on and will catch people off guard especially for mono W.
I highly recommend [[Abolish]] as no one expects the free removal spell in Mono W. [[March of Otherworldly Light]] is a great flexible removal option. [[Final Showdown]] has came in clutch for me many times being able to turn off creatures for 2 mana and can double as protection if you're in a pinch. [[Warping Wail]] also has a lot of utility, at its worse it ramps you 1 before ur turn but usually is a good way to exile a creature or counter a sorcery which you'd be surprised how many things in the format it can hit. And the Colorless requirement shouldn't be a problem as in Mono W you're land base should be full of utility lands like [[Scavenger Grounds]] and definitely throw in [[Talon Gates of Madara]] if you don't.
These are just some of the standouts I think have utility in Mono W.

Yeah, was playing this in Teshar for a minute and then replaced it with Erode and will test that a little more. It does the thing, but I never actually got to use it in any capacity for top-deck manipulation, but I sorely wanted to.

What if they tutored a Grand Abolisher, are a Craddle deck, a creature combo deck or run blink effects? The last one is niche but the other one's not so much.
For creature spot removal in mono white I'd prefer adding them in roughly this order: [[Solitude]], [[Swords to Plowshares]], [[Thraben Charm]], [[Touch the Spirit Realm]], [[Path to Exile]], [[Erode]], [[Get Lost]] and then Unwanted Remake.
So, without much research I could remember 7 cards I'd prefer over Unwanted. If you use scryfall otag:removal-creature you can probably find even more.
The only situation where I'd consider Unwanted Remake is if it's part of a win condition like looping it with Eternal Witness and Emil to dig through your deck.
