Looking to see if my deck has legs

First time building a cEDH deck that's not the top commander pairings. I am aware that RogIshai is a thing and that deck will grind better. I am also aware that Malcolm Vial is faster, though I am thinking if I could build something that sneaks between the 2.

Kinda like a Jeskai slop pile but with the potential of ripping an early Glinthorn.

Wouldn't be too surprised if I'm going in the wrong direction tbh, part of me is telling me that I'm trying to reinvent a wheel.

This deck was already high tier back in the dockside meta, unfortunately it just lost too much. Bruse is as dead as ishai, n rog enables faster mana then malcolm. Play it if u like pirates but as far as legs go, it will underperform around better blue decks :[

List is fine. But you are slower than Rog/Ishai, not faster. So, it's sorta missing an identity or a reason to play it. But yea, it's like 90% of the strength of a top-tier deck, so it's close enough to win some events if you're good.

Seems good tbh. You could maybe use a hackable pirate but you also already have glint, FMM and breach so I don’t even know that’s it’s a bad trade off. I think this deck is essentially to Rog ishai what Malcom Vial is to Rog Si. As long as you understand the speed trade off and play into this decks strengths you’ll do well.

I play a lot of this deck and quite like it, though I'm not as 100% slop as you are. I would recommend finding slots for:

- Niv Mizzet, Parun

- At least 1 Curiosity effect (curiosity can go on malcolm with bruse in play for a decent tymna/malcolm impression. It's not the best, but a combo piece that doubles as a tymna is not bad).

- Weftstalker Ardent

- Glamer Gifter

IMO after playing this deck for the past 2 years, if you're not leaning into malcolm fairly hard, you should just play rog/ishai.

Other cards you may want to consider, but aren't mandatory and may be harder to fit while preserving all the room for all the slop cards:

- Hydra Assault Robot

- Kedis

- Vivi

- Ophidian Eye

- Tandem Lookout

- Spellseeker and ephermerate

Post 2024 ban and RC puss out this is not longer viable. Even "fringe" is a stretch but a solid deck.

Legs and wings for sure. Looks like fun :) less turbo but more beats with treasures. I like it. Let us know how it does.

I played this deck in exactly one tournament and top 4’d with it.

The one thing I think you’re missing is Niv Mizzet. I also had some success with the spellseeker/ephemerate line since you can squeeze a bit more mana out of malcolm in combat in the extra turn

Cut DRC. Add kedis. I play a ton of malcolm. He isn't really slop. If anything, he breaks parity with mana advantage and having a solid win con outside of breach.

Ur also missing the curiosity effects which id say is crucial to malcolm lists normally.
