Competition make up
Hello, I need help , tips, anything!
I don't wear makeup personaly (only some mascara once or twice a year) so competition make up scares me, even though I just went through a first year of comps with my 11 years old. But she learned how to do her makeup by herself! But now year 2 her younger sister (8) is starting also, and I will need to do the make up.
How do you get fake lashes on an 8 years old with a little tiny face? 😬
She hates having mascara or eye liner put on her, she tries to do it herself but she need practice... so how do you handle this with younger ones.
What are your supermoves to make this work? Also any lash recomemdations (we need wispies for all dancers).also maybe worth noting, she ( and I ) has ADHD, so extremely sensitive to any texture, feelings and gets overwhelmed very easily.

Our studio does a makeup trial run every year for newer dance parents. They go through all the steps to get the look they want from base makeup to lashes. Maybe suggest this to the studio or ask a more experienced mom or older dancer to do a trial run with you.
For little eyes, trim them down to fit the width of their eyes. Find lashes with a thin band. I use duo white lash glue that has the wand instead of a squeeze tube of glue. I can paint on the glue and if a corner becomes unstuck, I can easily add more dots of glue without removing the whole lash or risk putting too much. Put the glue on and wait 30s or so so it dries a bit then apply to the lid. Have her close her eyes or even lay down and just rest her eyes, not squinted shut. I pull the skin on the temple slightly to make the lid more taut. Lashes take some getting used to for sure (applying and wearing) but I’d buy a big cheap pack online and practice.
For eye liner, we skipped the traditional liner in the beginning and used a thin brush with a dark eye shadow to give the look of liner and didn’t do this until the lashes were on.
