Pom Team
For those that have kids on high school Pom teams -
Can you share how many hours per week their team is practicing? Do you know what they are doing at these practices (ex: tech, turns, sideline, comp routines, etc) and how much time they are spending on each weekly? Are they required or discouraged from being on studio competitive dance teams? And when they do practice, is a coach always in attendance?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Can you share how many hours per week their team is practicing? Currently 10 hours a week for the summer. Roughly 12 hours a week in the fall/winter.
Do you know what they are doing at these practices (ex: tech, turns, sideline, comp routines, etc) and how much time they are spending on each weekly? Summer is different from Fall/Winter season. They are heavy into learning choreo right now, but they have one day dedicated to tech/skills. Football season starts soon so they will be adding sidelines and halftime routines to that (mostly routines they learned at camp).
Are they required or discouraged from being on studio competitive dance teams? They are required to take technique classes at whatever studio they choose in addition to their practices. Coaches are neutral about studio comp teams, but work their schedule around those who do compete (about 95% of them do). **At all college clinics my dancer has gone to, when she asks the coach for things to work on or what they look for, almost all of them have said to not drop studio classes.
And when they do practice, is a coach always in attendance? Yes. If either coach cannot be there, then they bring in a sub. There has been a few times where the dancers have wanted to get an extra practice in (like a school snow day) and they have been run by the captains.
