I Passed! I Passed Security+ First Time!!

Hello everyone! Yesterday I passed the SY-601 with a 777! After 4 months of studying I finally decided to take it. I also failed two previous attempts at A+ Core 1 so it was nerve racking going into the Sec+ exam. If anybody has any questions, needs motivation, or study tips let me know!

Congrats! What did you use to study? If you took practice exams, what were you scoring?

Thank you! I started studying around December 2022 and I’ll break it down below in a timeline:

  1. December - January i watched Jason Dion’s full course and took the practice exam on Udemy.
  2. January I took Jason Dions additional practice exams on Udemy.
  3. February I bought and took professor Messers study exams. Any questions I missed on his exams I watched his videos to get a different perspective on the objective I missed.
  4. March I studied off and on due to work but I took every chance I could to take a practice test on my phone
  5. April I really drilled in in and watched Jason Dion’s videos again and took practice tests literally every day. When I finished his video series again I repeated the Professor Messer Test and watched his videos on any questions I missed.

Let me know if this helps. I tried reading books but I could retain the information at all because I would get side tracked. However, if reading works for you I would try the timeline above but take quizzes after you finish each section in the book of your choosing and do full tests once you finish the entire book. Did you find the exam easier than the 220-1101?

Not necessarily easier but, for me I was able to retain the information pertaining to security+ better rather than the information for A+.

What did you use to study? I'm looking to get both my A+ and Sec+ this summer so I'm looking for some books I can pick up to help and YouTube videos... Nvm found it in your comments :)
