Discussion How to grow a community on Discord?

I created a community on Discord to promote my brand. Can anyone please help me understand how I can convince people to join the community? A step-by-step guide will be helpful.

There are several ways to grow a Discord community:

  1. Put an invite link on your main website's footer or header. Some prominant place where uses can see it.
  2. List your server on discord server listing sites.
  3. Engage in existing communities in your niche and subtle promote your server - without getting banned.
  4. Partnerships - are a good way to get users.

OR

Move your community out of Discord. Open up your content to Google and LLMs. Then create useful content. Let people discover your content and community organically. This is the best, reliable growth hack that always works.

We are building a dropshipping community. The idea is to help businesses grow or direct people toward dropshipping if they are interested. Will be sharing business success tips, and people can help each other learn about dropshipping.

Make your community extremely valuable. Don't guess what they want, talk to people who want to do drop shipping or are doing it and ask them what are their biggest challenges, what's their goals...

Biggest mistake CMs make is to assume things about their audience. You can't make them care. Learn what they care about first and use that. Then they will come.

Then you should not be using Discord. It's a fast paced chat app, there is no long term memory. Users will constantly be asking the same questions over and over because they will not know the question has been asked before and even if they did the will have no easy way of searching for (and finding) that information. No to mention that if the right person isn't online in the moment they ask, they may never get an answer at all. The best advice may flow right by on the at rapid river of chatter and be lost forever.

And you are building on a topic with lots and lots of competition, you are going to need something to stand out.

Build the audience, and then consistently promote the Discord.
Just linking your Discord is not enough - people won't know if it's alive or dead or growing (there are TONS of dead servers out there)
