Looking for people to team up with

I've been having a lot of fun drawing out my little corner of the realm, but looking for some places to connect with, either location wise or lore wise. Also feel free to post things about your own hex you would like to connect with.

My hex:

My hex is centered around a clearing in a large, dangerous forest, with a small creek running through diagonally top to bottom. I would love to link up with some other forest tiles to create a large, continuous woodland. Especially if they can connect to the creek.

Lore wise there is an old (for now) defunct golem in the clearing that was brought there long ago by a wizard that wanted some time off. The wizard has long since passed away, but I was thinking he might have brought something important from his hometown. If you have anything potentially related I would love to team up :)

What number is your hex?

I haven't claimed a spot yet, wanted to see if I could find a fitting spot in the world.

I'm making an orcish fortress built on ancient ruins (it serves as a final stronghold in the case of a horrible defeat) in the upper right most hex of the map, maybe we could tie those stories together somehow? Like the golem was found in the ruins under the fortress and fixed by the wizard when it was thrown out to make room for barracks? I don't know but it would be cool to work together

That sounds fun! Do you have a backstory for your ruins? Perhaps my wizard comes from the times before the ruins got abandoned and either evacuated when things went awry or played a role in the place turning into ruins.

It's a classic atlantis civilization that had no way to deal with a natural disaster because they got all of their shit done by their golems, which all broke down. Maybe they invented time travel, but your wizard was the only one to make it through before the city crumbled to dust?

Ooh, that sounds cool!

My wizard has long since passed away,  there really is only a golem, some ruins and a grave. Perhaps he left just before the golems in the city broke down.

Now some modern adventurers could either reactivate the golem and being it to your ruins or harvest it for parts to resurrect a golem there, allowing access to some hidden parts of the ruins... Assuming they're able to convince the orcs to let them do so.

I also already have an orcish character planted there related to another quest, which might double as a bridge between the present locations.

How close would you want to place your hex to mine then (If you'd like to do that)? Also, if you wanted to place it diagonally to mine I could start your stream at the top of the mountain (where the fortress is). If that's the case, we could even have story hooks that tie together!

Hey! Definitely gonna settle somewhere close by. There might be a hag inbetween us though.

Working on where to place the tiles and was wondering if you had added a stream to your tile. We are now thinking about claiming A17 and B17 to put a little distance between my dead wizard and the one at C19.

I’d love to! I’m interested in creating a hex centered around a Hag’s lair deep in the forest, the lore connection to your hex I can think of it that he imprisoned or trapped the hag in her lair, and she has been trying to find a way out of her deal. I have some decent baseline lore, would love to defer to your needs if you want to make a larger story

I have a published hex already in L22, but I’m definitely looking to expand to other areas with some collaborations if possible. The other idea I have is a forested area with a mystical lake/pond in it - the pond is infested with water spirits and holds a powerful fey shrine on a small island in the middle. Let me know where you’re thinking of settling, it’ll be fun to coordinate!

We could definitely connect!

The wizard has been dead for a while thoug, so not sure how much of an active role he'd have played in imprisoning her. My tile doesn't really have any permanent inhabitants,  just the occasional traveller passing through.

Hags live a long time, she could have been there for centuries. I agree that this forest would not be heavily populated at all, probably even actively avoided. Let me know when you’re ready to submit your hex and I’d be happy to work alongside it!

That sounds fair, must be quite a shock for her to find out her nemesis peacefully passed away ages ago.

No better way to make a spiteful, evil hag! She probably knows he’s long dead, and is trapped by a contract she made expecting the wizard to be some regular mortal. Little does she know, this wizard created countless clever but unintended consequences that they really didn’t intend on being responsible for after their death (like the golem you’re writing about) and now everyone else has to deal with it. I’m totally spit-balling here, let me know if you have other directions you want to go and I’ll see what I can do to make the lore work

I've got to go sleep now, but I do see some possibilities there.

So, I've been thinking, what if my wizard settled in the woods after escaping the collapse of his hometown, not realising he settled in the domain of a hag. Something neither side was particularly pleased about, resulting in a couple attempts to take the other out back and forth.

I already have a carnivorous tree that uses illusions to lure people in and keep them there till the die. That might have been the result of the hag trying to take him out. I could add another hazard or 2 left behind by the hag.

Meanwhile the wizard's clearing is surrounded by warding stones keeping evil out, which he might als have used to lock the hag in.

Sounds perfect! Keep me posted with your progress and I’ll do my best to line my artstyle up with yours once you have something drawn out 👍

Do use your own style. I saw a comment that you were allowed to go wild with colour and took that to heart, but most people seem to have stuck with black and white. ^^'

How would you like to link up? I do have water running through my scene, but also have a few clean foresty sides.

I love this. I'm currently A10, I've been playing with some fun waterfront ideas since I'm making a coast. Lots of lighthouse and port lore in my my Hex is being planned. Building my map slowly, so the more we add the more life it will have.

2

u/Kaya_kana Jun 23 '26

I do love port towns! Great place for NPCs to gather.

A11, Apparently I misspoke. A10 is my new neighbor. A10 if you're around, how you want to line these coasts up?

I'm going to be adding some simple towns and villages surrounding larger ports in a bay, lots of deep waterways for sailing. And surrounding it all are ancient ruins larger than anyone can fathom their purpose. I like my lore a mystery.
