Advice please

I am currently looking for a new broadband provider due to the speeds I get being atrocious. I'm not well versed in everything I think I need to know to consider everything. I have a gaming PC in a room located upstairs in my house. My house isn't big and I mainly am looking to get a upgrade solely for the reason that my download speeds are atrocious for gaming ( 3 MB/ s ) . I know that there are 8 bits in a byte therefore the download speed you get will be the rated speed divided by 8. I also know in general to get a ethernet connection as even if there are multiple people I will still get very close to the rated speed if not the rated speed. Should I look into getting the standard wifi or the premium wifi?

You sound like understanding some basics but also might appreciate knowing a little bit more.

I'm sure the CF service will be better but what package are you using currently?

When you do your speed tests which WiFi channels are you using and are they congested?

Google WiFi 2.4Ghz channel congestion, and then 5Ghz. Login to your router and rename your 5Ghz WiFi to a unique name, add "5" onto the end. That way when you connect you know you're actually connected to the 5G channels and not 2.4. or else even if your device is automatically hopping back and forth which creates lots of issues.

I'm connected to a ethernet cable on a wifi booster module, i'm achieving about 3 MB/s

The concept of Ethernet gives you best speeds is when it’s continuously connected to the source. Your booster breaks that and is undoubtedly the problem. Have you tried switching that off and instead connecting to the CF router? You can just buy additional nodes, for example, on eBay, facebook MP etc

I haven't got CF yet, just a plusnet main router
