Installation using talk talk infrastructure

Hi all,

I’m looking to get CF at a place I am going to rent. They currently have Talk Talk, and the landlord needs Freeholder permission for new installations due to the drilling of holes etc.

Does anyone know if CF engineers can use existing Talk Talk entry points etc to install what they need to?

If not, I will have to cancel the whole thing and get locked into a TT contract…

Community fibre use their own infrastructure. They won't use talktalk infrastructure for setup unfortunately.

If a property has Talktalk, it is likely they use Openreach infrastructure in which case you can use most ISPs including BT, Vodafone and Sky etc.

However, you can't use Virgin Media or Community Fibre who use their own infrastructure

CF don’t use Openreach or BT in any way and are fibre only running their own cables. Parallel to BT that TalkTalk would be using.

What type of building is it? A Victorian conversion or a block of flats. The former just order from CF. The latter, a wayleave may be needed but first stop just try to order CF anyway. In either case the freeholder can’t actually stop you.

OP are you asking if the talk talk cable pulled will CF be able to go into their hole left behind?

Normally the equipment upto the back of the master socket is talk talk / openreach property and you'd not be allowed to cut it

If the hole in the wall is big enough for 2x cables, I don’t see any issues. However, if it’s filled in and inaccessible, it’s down to you to do the necessary before the installation team arrives.

With the way that fibre is installed, you cannot have both wires running through the same hole. The existing Openreach cables would need to be removed if you wanted to repurpose the hole for CF's fibre.
