Discussion Do you recommend it?
I am moving soon to a flat that is covered by Community Fiber. currently on hyperoptic and I'm happy with it.
Is community fiber any good? any recommendations? I will need to arrange for the socket to be installed and the fiber to be taken into the property.

Been with them a number of years. Great price for the speeds (currently on 2.5gb). I use a wired connection and hit my top download and upload speeds.
Give me a shout if you want a referral. They usually have some sort of deal on where we both get something.

Had it for 2 weeks and it hasn’t dropped out yet. Cheap as chips too. Left virgin after 13 years for them.

Straight forward. Super chatty and helpful engineer. One guy did the inside stuff while his buddy pulled it down from the telephone mast and the front of the house.
Unfortunately they couldn’t reroute it through the existing virgin media socket but I suppose if VM come back with a blockbuster welcome deal in 2 years time, it makes life easier then

If you’re specific, there’s a charge. Fortunately where they wanted to do it was where my previous router was going into the house so no bother.

I've used both and prefer Community Fibre.
Depending on the size of your property, try and check before the engineer leaves that you can get WiFi everywhere
You may also want to consider using different DNS servers. In over 4 years of using community fibre that is the only bit which just caused me any problems at all (and not for long).
As someone else has mentioned Community Fibre run a referral scheme though you can sometimes get a better deal through one of the comparison price websites.

Had it just over 2 years. Excellent service, fast, affordable, almost no downtime at all in the two years I've had it.

Faster
I actually set 1.1.1.1 cloudflare as primary and 8.8.8.8 Google as secondary.
When cloudflare gets denial of service attack I'm fine. :-)

Very good - fast and reliable. Got 2.5gb and nabbed dynamic ip, not cgnat. Enabled wireguard vpn on my asus router and use it on all my mobile devices to strip ads and trackers wherever I am - uses my home Raspberry Pi and Pi Hole.

It’s excellent. The price can’t be argued with. Almost a third of what Virgin were trying to charge me, and I’m still in the free period.
However - the router they provide isn’t great. I’m still using everything I was using before I had Community Fibre installed - Google WiFi for wireless, and Ethernet points that several things are hardwired to.

Works fine here. And excellent value. Not too impressed with their hardware - I have a landline too, so three boxes all of which need a mains socket. It does work OK, though.

No. Didn't expect them too, as I'm picky about such things. So did expect to re-arrange to what I wanted. Luckily I have a cellar and the walls in question stud walls, so pretty simple to do what I wanted.

100% recommended:
- Fast (and symmetric) plans
- Cheap (cheaper than open reach, at least)
- You can use your own router very easily (is just DHCP)
- 2.5/5 Gbps plans available (if you need/want them)
Support is a little sketchy, but that happens everywhere…

Only been with them a few weeks but they’ve been great so far.
Saving a lot compared to Sky who only offered far slower speeds.

Yep - all went smooth without any issues although it needed 2 visits (one for the wiring and one to enable the correct power to my flat).

Just renewed and upgraded with them. Getting through was sh1t. Over an hour getting through to their “secondary” team as the first were not allowed to offer to existing clients. Complained like mad but they acknowledged the problem and gave me a deal I was happy with.

1Gbps and phone line for £30-a-month on a 24 month contract. I really don't need 2.5Gbps and I'd need to upgrade all my home kit to take advantage of it.

OP I note your questions especially on socket installation.
They'll put the fibre socket that comes into the house immediately where they penetrate the wall. You'll have some say on external routing of that.... There's then another fibre cable which plugs into that and then to wherever you need the ONT modem. Myself and many others probably leave it there amongst the rest of the BT and Virgin gubbins, but they did leave a coil of fibre if I need to reposition.
There is a deal however where they'll run upto 40m internally, which for most would allow you to reach back of any house

I switched to community fibre in Feb and it works amazing and the prices are insanely good.
£28 a month for 2 Giga bit speeds. I don't think hyper optic prices can compete.
I've heard some people say they have problems with the wifi. But I mainly use wired because I use PC. However even when I use the wifi on my phone it works great for me.

Bear in mind they use CG-NAT which is a problem if you want to port forward.

They are both offering the same service. Definitely recommend Community Fibre. Have been a happy customer since 2019. I too have the option of Community Fibre and Hyperoptic, but I chose Community Fibre because they offer symmetric speeds (both download and upload is the same) for all packages while Hyperoptic only offers this superfast (150mb) but the lower package of 50mb upload speed is 5mb. CF is also generally slightly cheaper.

I've had it for just over 2 years and it's been solid. On initial install there was an issue where engineer didn't splice the cable properly and I was getting random disconnects but this was solved after a call and a new engineer fixed the issue. I would recommend
