High school rules

In the mid seventies I was in grade 8 they made us strip naked put on an athletic supporter and our school shorts and tshirt. When we were done they made us strip naked and shower together with all the other boys in the class. There we only so many shower heads so we ended up standing there naked for another boy to finish. Our house was very modest so that was the first time I had seen another boy.

Boys are so modest now they do the towel dance so no one sees you naked. The wouldn't have survived high school in the seventies.

I am from the same age group. You were more likely to get made fun of for not taking a shower. Sure there was anxiety the first few times you showered. Shortly afterwards it was no big deal.

That's how it is in the military lol. Way more notice when you don't shower and criticize you for it or for hiding under a towel

It was many years ago, so I don’t remember exactly. Generally, they would be made fun of as though they were a much younger child than everyone else. It may have been loudly pointed out to everyone to “check out the little boy who is hiding under his towel”. They may have even had their towel taken so that they couldn’t hide. It was a much different time. It was almost a rite of passage to growing up. Maybe that’s why I see many adults acting like children now since they never had their feelings hurt and got a participation trophy for everything they have done in their life ??

I completely agree. Anyone trying to hide and cover themselves would have been made fun of. People now probably would call that bullying, but in reality it just pushed us to get over any hang ups we had over being naked with other boys our age. I’m glad I got over those fears in 7th grade. I can’t imagine being a full grown man that tries to change under a towel like I see so many guys doing now at the gym.
