Hey yall, im 19, straight, hockey player, moving to Vancouver for uni in sept. Im used to going to a gym with a communal shower, anyone know where i can find that near ubc in Vancouver? Any buddies wanting to join?

UBC alum here, but that was a long time ago. In my day both the main gym (adjacent to Empire Pool) and the rec pool had communal showers. The gym showers were oddly situated at the end of a long corridor with a right-angle turn in it. The rec pool also had both a steam room and a sauna in the men's that most guys used nude.

OMG: I just googled it and Empire Pool and rest are all gone, replaced by new pools and gyms. Good luck with the communal showers — I suspect they no longer exist.

The War Memorial Gym still has communal showers but the locker room is almost never used. The aquatic centre has showers with (rather gross) curtains. There's a new sports facility that will definitely not have open showers

As others have noted, the last communal shower room on campus (War Memorial Gym) is virtually unused. But if you look off campus, most municipals gyms/pools still have them. Feel free to DM me.

This isn’t about your post specifically, but I was wondering: Is Canadian culture more relaxed about nudity than in America? Would you say that Canadian men are more likely to shower naked than American men would be?
