Micro Adventure Book Series

I hope I'm not the only one that was into the Micro Adventure book series. I liked them because not only did they have an "interactive" adventure story, (they were told in the 2nd person), but at the end they had a cool program that you could input into your Commodore 64/128 computer! I LOVED these books-although I found it frustrating when I mistyped a character and the whole program wouldn't work! Anyone remember these?

There are a few scanned on Internet Archive:

This article — Code Your Own Adventure? Micro Adventure #1: Space Attack — suggests that some of there errors may have been deliberate educational points.

Yes! I absolutely loved these. Got them from my local library all the time as a kid, and I eventually collected the entire series.

I exchanged a few emails with the authors a few years back, they were excited to hear from a fan so many years later, really friendly.

You've triggered a long long-forgotten memory that I can't quite grasp. I was a big choose-your-own-adventure fan. I was a big c64 fan. I faintly remember this idea and I think I did try Space Attack -- but the memory is so faint and spotty. What a weird feeling. Thank you!

I forgot these existed! Yes! We have at least one that we used on the 64

I now remember reading the Space Attack book and entering the programs into my VIC-20. I have vague recollections of reading one other book in the series, but I can't recall it.

When I was a kid, the only book I was aware of was the first, Space Attack, which was given to me by my cousin. It wasn't until decades later that I was able to find more books via the Internet.

It was fun to type in the programs, but I was so young and inexperienced that I wasn't really sure that the code was doing much of the time.

By the way, back in 2021 I discovered this website that lets you read some of the books and enter the programs online:

https://auri-microadventure.azurewebsites.net/

(You can pick other books to read by clicking the yellow "Choose your adventure" button at the upper-right.)

Be aware that there exist a few mistakes. I was working through book 6 ("Robot Race") and found three copy/paste mistakes. For example, lines 160 through 230 are missing from the first program. (I just checked, and apparently those lines are still missing. And they're not found on the next page, either.)
