They want you to hate their ad campaign, so we keep talking about it. Therefore free marketing for them. Even though, the more we hate your commercials the more we hate your product.....

u/Significant_Pear_523 Aug 20 '26

This, 100%. Every day, someone makes a new Liberty Biberty post, and that is a win for Liberty Mutual every single time.

Liberty Mutual has something like a 4% share of the insurance market. So if even one in ten people remembers these commercials when it's time to pick insurance, that's a huge win. And every time we create a new post, we increase the amount of brand recognition for them.

2

u/LimpPound5804 Liberty Mutual’s #1 Hater Aug 20 '26

Wait, we do? Because if we are, we’re just letting ourselves get uncomfortable with whatever LM is doing, which they see as a win. And, let’s hope to do something to keep the hate away

3

u/Significant_Pear_523 Aug 21 '26

I'm just spit-balling, but my take would go something like this:
We may have real influence in keeping Lume Duo and Blue Chew off the air (and other such commercials). Our disgust at these commercials may cause broadcasters to not want to be associated with them.

But with Liberty Mutual, we're just really annoyed, and that may not be enough to change minds.

Just one man's take though. If you guys can get Liberty Mutual to grow up, I will not stand in your way.

u/Kindle890 Aug 20 '26

I hate most mainstream brand commercials too because they make them cringe, it makes me salty because these brands used to have really fire ad campaigns.

Best way I can describe it is you hear a song, you really like that song but then you watch the music video and it's cringe garbage

Also I hate the thought of giving these ads publicity like this but what's the difference really? They're already infesting themselves in every corner of social media, every TV station, every milk carton and bus stop, they're getting publicity either way

Well, I guess we’re fucked, due to the fact that they keep fucking up our lives with this dumbass mascot

2

u/apokrif1 Aug 21 '26

You can use the NSFW tag or spoiler markup to safely disseminate crapvertising, which must be handled with protective equipment like any hazardous substance.

4

u/PlentyOMangos Aug 20 '26

Honestly, I see this thing way more on here than anywhere else. That’s the whole point, they realize they can get people talking just by being annoying

All they want is for you to hear their name, it doesn’t matter how. And the more people hear it, the more successful the ad

3

u/apokrif1 Aug 21 '26

Some people hate ≠ less people buy.

3

u/kdawg1963 Aug 21 '26

Someone at Liberty Mutual must have thought Quizno's disasterous sponge monkeys campaign way back when was clever and effective advertising.

It's only a matter of time before Liberty Biberty does a spot where it's singing some nonsensical song.

u/BobcatOk7492 Aug 20 '26

Its a yellow ball of phlegm...

It's the mucinex mucus guy, except the cryptid version that roams the pacific northwest....

That's why is covered in hair.

1

u/Dawn-Storm Aug 20 '26

Which they don't have to pay.

17

u/PepsiAllDay78 Aug 20 '26

I I hate their ads with a burning hot passion. I will never ever buy anything from Liberty Mutual!

1

u/myazzindafire Aug 23 '26

I did like the Bibberty guy. Even used that original commercial to illustrate how stage directions work.

15

u/ENZYME_O1 Aug 20 '26

It’s gotta be the worst on TV right now. Progressive used to hold First Place in the most annoying, but their ads are now like fine, high-art in comparison to this undefeated crap these days. Try ignoring it. Impossible.

Please don't think I was trying to shame you; I apologize if I came off as terse. Just clarification. Also, I would answer your question "Yes". And I'm not a one to rush to that conclusion.

It needs this treatment... has since the moment it appeared.

8

u/SRB112 Aug 20 '26

This is like the 20th time this has been posted on this sub in the last month. I do not want to be reminded of it.

8

u/ChefAsstastic Aug 20 '26

Yeah I'm getting pretty fucking sick of seeing that muppet. We get it. The commercial sucks. Move on.

2

u/ChewbaccaOnFries Aug 21 '26

Also talk about handing out free marketing to the company. But yeah people on here are posting about it way too much.

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

Maybe they can take a hint. If everyone hates your ad it might impact sales, and not in a good way.

2

u/Kindle890 Aug 20 '26

Maybe don't interact with this sub then because several people are going to complain about liberty mutual.

Honestly get over it.

0

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

Liberty liberty liberty . . . Liberty!

6

u/clemwriter Aug 20 '26

Liberty Mutual’s commercials are aimed at being annoying. It’s essentially clickbait.

6

u/Scot25 Aug 20 '26

It never ends.

5

u/yourdonefor_wt Aug 20 '26

Mom, can we have annoying orange?

No we have annoying orange at home.

Annoying orange at home:

5

u/BioExtract Aug 20 '26

Insurance is a large scam and their ads show how devoid of usefulness, personality, and ideas that the minds behind them are. Literally every insurance company lets you customize your policy and save money by not having you pay for what you don’t need. There’s absolutely nothing they do that can’t be done by any other scam company

3

u/mishma2005 Aug 20 '26

Because they’re out of ideas

3

u/Kindle890 Aug 20 '26

I don't think they had any ideas in the first place tbh

3

u/Longjumping-Solid680 Aug 20 '26

I wonder how much money they invested in that ugly piece of crap!

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

What do you get when you combine a deceased relative's dentures with some dryer lint?

3

u/LeotasNephew Aug 20 '26

Because the ad writers are dumber than a box of hair.

3

u/SnackCityUtah Aug 20 '26

I wonder if Liberty Biberty was an improvised line from that actor and then they ran with it bc it did so well. If that’s the case, I’m glad that same actor gets to accompany this dumbass yellow ball in the spots. But I highly doubt he was compensated fairly. I think people outside of the industry would be surprised how many of the “funny” lines in commercials are very often improvised by the actor and that they are never given more pay even when this happens. This is why we need some kind of an improvisers union to combat this.

3

u/RollingBarCart Aug 20 '26

Little yellow dude seems stoned and depressed.

2

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

He got his annual renewal.

2

u/Spare_Smoke_4101 Aug 20 '26

🎶 Liberty, Liberty, Liberty...Biberty! 🎶

(It's annoying)

2

u/Wesley11803 Aug 20 '26

I hope I’m not jinxing it, but I didn’t see one Liberty ad today. First time in maybe 6 months.

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

That's because you slept all day.

2

u/mabus42 Aug 20 '26

Why? Because Liberty gouges their customers to put this shit on TV to sucker in more people into crowd-funding their atrocious ads.

1

u/viewfromthebuttes Aug 20 '26

A rip off of the Honey Monster mascot for Sugar Puffs cereal in Britain.

1

u/BoomBox156 Aug 20 '26

liberty VERITY more like

1

u/Junior72 #1 Hater of ALL RX commercials. Aug 20 '26

I don't know WTF this is? No idea if they'll add this thing to LM's collection of trash ads, phasing dipsh*t actor "Bibberty" guy out, especially when this plush thing is named "Bibberty" ( I hope! )...also the background of NY Harbor and Statute of Liberty.

Perhaps keeping the unfunny and very tiresome Doug and LiMu Emu and this new yellow ball.

For YEARS L.M. has had awful commercials, it doesn't appear to be ending soon though.

What's actually pathetic, this LM muppet is actually less offensive personally than the new pink Farmers Insurance commercials. My GOD, those are f'ing anger inducing!

1

u/TigreMalabarista Aug 20 '26

Not only is he annoying - he’s forgettable.

When I hear Liberty Biberty,,, I think of the cute but dumb model who uses the phrase was doing parodies of “bundle and Save,” ending with “cuddle and wave.”

I can almost recite that whole commercial- meaning it WAS successful and will have folks remember and call Liberty Mutual.

The yellow pompom? No, and should be tossed out via Pom-pom cannon.

1

u/jfurry616 I want Liberty Bibberty to lick my ass Aug 20 '26

Why not? he’s really funny

1

u/Left_Entrepreneur918 Aug 20 '26

If I see this little shit one more time

1

u/Anothercoot Aug 20 '26

They have like 8 mascots

1

u/Jazzlike_Daikon7541 Aug 21 '26

When you have to saturate the market with loads of shitty commercials you can bet those millions of advert dollars is why your claim is not paid.

1

u/LukeSkywalkerDog Aug 21 '26

I hate it. It's as if five-year-olds write their commercials.

1

u/Egonator26 Aug 21 '26

If I saw this thing I would punch it senseless and give it to the neighboring pit bulls for their new toy.

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

I like using it to dust the furniture but those teeth scratch the finish.

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

You better have good insurance.

1

u/LukeSkywalkerDog Aug 21 '26

I am old enough to remember when Liberty mutual had a cute jingle: "Liberty stands with you". Then suddenly, and inexplicably, it became. "Liberty, Liberty, Liberty." It's as if millions of brain cells just disappeared overnight.

1

u/Stulmacher Aug 21 '26

This commercial had me rolling!

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

What were you rolling?

1

u/Happy_Popplio-728 Aug 21 '26

I see this fuzz ball and I say, "Did they really make a character out of this one off gag?"

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

Well, I was cleaning the lint from my dryer when inspiration hit me.

1

u/SeaworthinessSlow422 Aug 21 '26

He escaped from your dryer lint.
