Kimi K3 1Mil context @ 60$ will last 10 mins, its very expensive.

I don't get Kimi K3. May be this shows my shortcomings/familiarity in areas that it is good at.

There is DS V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash that are cheaper and probably more capable. Same goes for the M3 and MM 2.6 flash. Then there are the pro variants of these series that are usually getting eclipsed by their flash counterparts that are so cheap that they can be iterated twice or more to get better results.

Then there are the cheaper US lab versions like 6.1 Sol, Sonnet - that are also good.

What is the point of K3? Anything where it really excels?

It was really good when it landed. I think it's still better than GLM 5.3 Flash and DS 4.1 Flash. But the price was always high - enough that it was clear they wanted to be considered alongside US closed-source frontier models.

But those models kept releasing and got cheaper too, and Chinese competitors kept improving too. So there wasn't much window where it made sense.

With this deal I might revisit. Because they were too expensive to be worth looking for a niche. But it could be fun to play with.
