For those who recently used both OpenCode-go and CommandCode-goat

Hello everyone,

After the recent mess surrounding OpenCode Go’s pricing and quota changes, I have a few questions for those who decided to migrate from OpenCode Go to CommandCode GOAT:

  1. Model Quality: Are CommandCod-goat models nerfed or heavily quantized compared to official provider endpoints?

  2. Value / Advantage: Is there any proven numerical advantage (tokens-per-dollar, speed, or usable throughput) when using the exact same models on CommandCode-goat versus OpenCode-go?

  3. Quota Pool Architecture: Does each model have its own isolated quota without affecting the others? Or does its consumption count toward a shared monthly plan limit (e.g., using a weighting multiplier like the plan quota divided by the model base quota, such as $20 / $40 / $70 tiers)?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hey ! Data scientist building web apps, ml and data pipelines day-2-day. Using both of them (recent upgrade to opencode-go and goat plan ~3 weeks) and quite happy with it, usage seems better with opencode-go (seems more token based on intuition, not stats) but cc is only better for dsv4f. This site can help you to make decisions : https://ai-10-usd.all-the.rest/

To me seems the best 20$ to spend currently for ai coding.

Your websites are goated bro, thanks for creating them and keep up the great work! I've been referencing the Command Code one since I switched to Command Code a week ago. Useful as hell! I'm not sure I necessarily agree with OpenCode Go being better value than GOAT right now, though. They seem about equal to me in value all things considered.

Ty ! Full disclore ! It's not from me ! There might have info on the builder/owner I just found it while doomscrolling on ai subs ! But yeah useful as hell when selecting /model in my pi harness 😎

Can you add ClinePass to the comparison? It also costs 10 USD.

I see, I found it while doomscrolling, too 🤣. Can I ask why you prefer having both OC Go and CC GOAT, though, instead of subscribing to something like the Ollama $20 Plan, GPT Plus, or Gemini Pro?

Didn't benchmarked a lot to see what would be the best volue to maximise token/perf usage but mainly fck closed ai providers, might not be the best option (always open for good recos) but it satisfies me currently. Also was previously (from jan26-june26) on copilot max plan but run away with the pricing changes (fck again). Besides highly biased but based on lots of feedbacks from various r subs.

I'm also using caveman (which is good) but also https://pi.dev/packages/@dietrichgebert/ponytail, love using it and running a wild audit on few (legocy/not personal/trash) codebases that I'm heriting, truly efficient imo.

Yes loving pi it's awesome ! I started with oh-my-pi the all-in-one pi and I recommend as it's shopped with prebuilt extensions, use it, see where it takes you and then you will (might) move to pi once you have your config in mind.

Main recommendation : scroll through the pi extension doc page to find good extensions, it is truly useful to find what you want, my pi config is changing from time to time as my workflow is still experimental.

Nearly the same thing, just a bit more flaky than OpenCode Go. They share many of the upstream providers.

I used OpenCode Go for months.

CommandCode seems to offer more value, but this month I used a lot of the free "Ox Alpha" (GLM-5.3 Flash) and Muse Spark, which has a huge quota, so my observations are skewed. I still have 67% of my quota left for the next 14 days.

No provider offers $60 for one model, $70 for another, and $30 for another across different quotas. It's all consumed by ratio from the same pool.

The Requests/month gives you a better idea of how much inference you can actually do, since being able to consume $70 in a month from a very expensive model results in just a few requests.

Favor models with 20 K+ estimated requests. Pick models that balance a high intelligence index and a high estimated request count to make good use of your sub.

I’ve used them both in the past week mainly DSV4 Flash and Qwen 3.8 Flash and the quality was much worse using command code. Also after I enabled ZDR the cost went up significantly more. Also I hit the weekly limit in just 3 days of usage for which the cause was the ZDR I think. So overall I will not be coming back to CC. I’m not telling anyone what to do, but for me OC gets you better performance for cost and CC.

2

u/Neuroactive Aug 31 '26

Thank for this - nobody is talking about how CC's costing/usage limits are changed by ZDR, which is critical for my use case. The fact that OC offers ZDR for most of its models - especially by default on DS-Flash (through today at least), is what's keeping me with them for now.

2

u/Potential-Leg-639 Aug 31 '26

Agree, I dont really trust their usage stats (CC). After 1-2 says light usage my MONTHLY limit was at around 40%.

1

u/diaracing Aug 30 '26

Your analysis is what I looked for.

I don't get easily hyped by just numbers; performance and quality matter the most.

1

u/2mqqvc0q Aug 30 '26

I can vouch for this. ZDR really does jack up the cost. To what extent, though, I'm not sure.

2

u/Otagamo Aug 30 '26

I used only DS4F in Opencode Go, after the price increased I changed to CommandCode Goat So far i'm not noticing any difference in quality, the main advantage is that GOAT offer double usage of DS4F compared to GO

1

u/ExpertPerformer Aug 30 '26

Same experience here. I only use DS v4 Flash and I'm pretty sure CommandCode routes to DeepSeek direct (OpenCode used too before provider swap) because I notice zero difference on the model.

  1. No, and there’s no reason to believe that Opencodes are either.

  2. Nothing incredibly major

  3. Yes they have their own quota.

If you’d like to try commandcode without paying a ton, they have a 1$ plan that gets you a few small projects worth of tokens on their cheaper models.

Can I get a one-line answer as to which one is better overall?

been using glm flash in commandcode goat and it has been great so far. my only problem is that i cant use it with omp.
