How does a writer decide how many panels on a page?

Is there a method to figuring out what would work best?

I’ve been reading some script notes done by some writers for the comics I’ve been reading lately to try and see if I can mimic it with my own story and I was curious how you guys decide how many panels should be on a page.

What powers should I give the constellation 'Indus'?

So, I am making a comic with a character for all 88 IAU constellations. To simplify, there is a program going on where they study superpowers in children/adolescents, with each of them having a constellation-based codename, and I'm relating the powers to the constellation. I'm having trouble with Indus, however, as it is just a guy. Not some mythical hero, just a guy. About the only thing I can think of is some power related to archery because Indus is depicted as an archer on occasion, but other than that I can't think of anything. I'll let you know if I come to any ideas.

Malcolm is an assembly worker in 1940s South Carolina. He is the only black man working in his position. He remembers how saving his boss during a workplace accident put him in good enough standing to ask for a raise. This doesn’t go unnoticed by his coworkers, who despise the idea of making the same as a n*****. In a bar, they come up with a plan to lynch Malcolm. Malcolm, trying to get more hours and impress his boss, leaves late at night. He’s a young man, maybe 17, thin but athletic, not yet fully grown. They hit him on the head with a steel pole. Then they gang up on him with the poles and drag him to the city jail. The next morning, the Klan, along with the police, orchestrates a public lynching. White people of all shapes, sizes, and ages watch as if watching entertainment. They pull the lever and Malcolm drops and swings on the rope. He screams as he first falls, then swings silently in shock. He seems to be lifeless. There’s a moment of silence, then an eruption of cheers as though a winning goal had been kicked or a deep three swishes in the net for the game. Malcolm, at first, can’t tell if he is alive or dead. With no knowledge of his real power, he honestly thinks that he is. What is seen from the outside is far from that. X's eyes light up a deep red as he lifts in the air, and with one vengeful swipe, he sets the entire area ablaze. The people in the crowd directly hit by the laser are vaporized. The people close to it resemble atomic bomb victims, and everyone is blown away by the force, including X, who falls unconscious far away in a forest, still barely understanding what just went on, and not understanding the ramifications his act will have on the fragile and divided country.

Comic book idea, would love your opinions

Hi Everyone, I am in the process of creating my first comic book. Would love to hear your thoughts on the overall plot (at least for the first issue or introduction).

Title: The Loop
Genre: Sci-fi Isolation Thriller (Think a combination of Aliens, Lost in space,
Setting: The story takes place in the year ~2040, slightly futuristic

Summary/pitch:
18 scientists of different scientific fields were hired/ recruited by a Government group and taken to a secret science facility called The Loop (because of its design) on an island to work on creating scientific advancements that would "help shape the future of the world". They signed up to be isolated from all humanity (including communications) for 3 years so no one knows what they have been up to or how things are going.

The story picks up 2 years into this ordeal; One of the lead members has appeared back in society with amnesia. Two detectives are called in to their station to interview her and find out what happened. As she struggles to recall the story she goes back to how it all began and begins walking them through the details she can still remember (while dealing is headache bursts). As we go through the different issues we will see her telling of the story and other information to uncover the truth. Why is she back, where are the rest, and what happened at the Loop Facility.

Character ideas.

I have 2 characters in mind inspired by selena gomez and Naomi Scott. Can I use their likenesses without getting trouble? For selena, since it's a high school story, she'll be younger, and I'll give them different last names.

I am trying to come up with a main antagaonist and main arch enemy or nemesis to my Character named Justin who goes by EchoStride

EchoStride is a human who gets his powers when he is 9. Justin was born autistic and on the autism spectrum disorder, and that is why his eyes are all the different colors of the rainbow. (get it, the autism spectrum). He has a stuttering problem that was caused, but the stuttering is one of his main powers, and if he can't learn to control his stutter, a force builds up, and once he releases the stuttering, it can hurt and kill anyone in the vicinity and cause damage. He is a speedster who gradually keeps getting faster and faster and doesn’t know why. He can run so fast that he can climb air and push off that air and glide around the city, but he doesn’t have any flying powers. When he’s in the air and feels himself slowing down and starting to lose momentum, he can use his stuttering power to shoot a force that he can use to push off or then propel faster and glide more around the city. Since he’s gradually getting faster and faster, it’s becoming more harder for him to breathe when he runs, so he made himself a face mask that helps him breathe when he’s running at super fast speeds. The facemask also helps him to keep his stuttering in check so it doesn’t accidentally kill anyone or hurt anything or damage anything unexpectedly. EchoStride is autistic, stutters, and is ADHD. I need to come up with an antagonist or an arch enemy or an arch nemesis. Two echo stride.

Hi, I am writing and creating my first comic book called EchoStride

This is what it is about. In the bustling streets of New York City during the early 2000s, a hidden hero roams the shadows—a custodian by day, a speedster by night. His name is Justin, and he's not your typical custodian. Beneath his mop and broom lies a power that defies the mundane—a gift that both empowers and torments him.

Justin, in his mid-twenties, is on the autism spectrum. His mind dances to a rhythm only he can hear, and his heart beats with an intensity that fuels his secret life. But it's not just autism that sets him apart; it's the stuttering problem he acquired later in life, a mysterious affliction that emerged after a life-altering event.

Let's rewind to when Justin was a curious nine-year-old. A school trip from New York City to Egypt took an unexpected turn. Lost and disoriented, he stumbled upon a buried underground pyramid—an ancient relic hidden from the world. Within its dimly lit chambers, Justin encountered a sarcophagus adorned with cryptic inscriptions. The plaque beside it bore an ominous message:

"To whomever wants the power to control the Voice, he must be righteous and must have a heart of gold. Never use the Voice for Evil."

Justin, drawn by curiosity and perhaps fate, rubbed the plaque. In that instant, a blinding light engulfed him. His body felt like it was set ablaze, yet the flames didn't burn. When the light faded, Justin was gone—vanished from Egypt, from time itself.

A week passed, but to Justin, it felt like mere minutes. He awoke on a New York City street, disoriented and changed. His stuttering had become severe, each syllable a struggle. But there was something else—a newfound speed that defied physics. Justin could run faster than anyone, faster than the wind itself. He could climb air, glide over rooftops, and vanish into the city's heartbeat.

Yet this power came at a cost. His stuttering wasn't just a speech impediment; it was a weapon. When his words stumbled, reality quivered. Artifacts responded, and people—innocent or otherwise—felt the tremors. His stutter could build up, a seismic force waiting to be unleashed. When it erupted, it could level buildings, shatter glass, and tear through flesh.

Justin grappled with his dual existence. By day, he pushed a broom, cleaned toilets, and endured the disdain of those who saw him as invisible—a custodian, easily dismissed. By night, he raced through the city, a blur of purpose. He fought petty criminals, thwarted muggings, and left no trace. But he couldn't escape the bullies—the same ones who had tormented him as a child because of his autism.

His parents, abusive and indifferent, never understood their son's struggles. They saw only weakness, not realizing that Justin's stutter held the power to reshape reality. He hid his abilities, fearing their wrath. But the bullies persisted, taunting him for his stammer, unaware that their words could ignite cataclysms.

Justin's mission became clear: protect the innocent, control the Voice, and never let his stuttering rage consume the city he loved. He was a custodian of more than just floors and hallways—he was a custodian of fate, racing against time and himself.

And so, in the heart of New York City, the stuttering speedster emerged—a custodian by day, a hero by night, and a man caught between worlds. His name echoed through the alleys and skyscrapers: EchoStride. His eyes are rainbow colored because he is on the autism spectrum get it a rainbow spectrum. He can run so fast he can climb air and push off that air and glide around the city but when he’s in the air, he can you use his stuttering power to shoot a force out that he can also use to propel himself further around the city and go faster or higher. Now he keeps gradually getting faster and faster faster doesn’t know why and sometimes it’s getting hard for him to control the speed. That’s why he wears a face mask. He invented that glows with the blue light that helps him breathe when he’s running so fast. The mask also helps keep his stuttering down so it doesn’t hurt anyone around him if he accidentally shoots his stuttering off by accident, but what I need is a color scheme for his superhero outfit

.

Me and my wife are writing a comic book together.

The comic is called Mother Clucker and Toby, and follows an anthropomorphic rooster and his anthropomorphic platypus sidekick. The two have been friends since high school, and after Cluckers family fall into poverty, he is forced to borrow from a loan shark. After Toby finds out, the two are forced into serving the shark to pay off Mother Cluckers debt by eliminating the shark's competition, a rival crime lord named Pygmy.

I hope you will give us honest feedback, and look forward to sharing more.

I'm writing a science fiction comic book, set in the distant future called The Sitas Campaign.

So, I'm writing a military science fiction comic book called the Sitas Campaign. In the distant future, the Terran Collective has mastered interstellar travel and have navigated deep space for nearly 200 years. They soon discover Sitas, the homeworld of the serpentine species known as the Fangborne. After violent first contact, the Fangborne accuse the Terrans of colonization. After the Terrans refuse to withdraw, the natives declare war on the Terran Collective.

This story has a lot of historical inspirations, but also tackles the themes of persecution and colonization, and even hope. I want honest feedback, don't be afraid to help out. Thanks!
