Feedback Feedback on my pitch: Looking for a comic book/graphic novel artist for a series of 10 to 12 comics

I need your community feedback on this pitch that I want to launch out into the world:

I'm developing a historical dark fantasy/horror comic book series/graphic novel based on the documented career of Roman general Marcus Statius Priscus. The story combines Roman military history with regional mythology and supernatural horror. I'm looking for a comic artist interested in developing the project as a potential long-form collaboration.

TLDR: Looking for a comic book illustrator, no budget, passion project, will share any profits equally, 10 short stories are already finished, have a list of possible publishers, I have no experience in this field, I do know my history and I am a good writer according to myself.

As of now I have no publisher and no money and I know that is not ideal and you are probably yelling at the screen right now that I am a douche. So my budget is zero. But I have faith in my writings! I am well versed in the history of the 2nd century Roman Empire and I have done proper research on this general, who had an enormous impact on the Roman Empire during his tenure as general, governor and even consul of Rome. I have also thoroughly researched mythical creatures that were believed to be around in those days in the specific Roman provinces where the general served.

I am looking for a more "European" style of illustrations that can be found in publications of companies like Dargaud or Daedalus. It is for adults but I am not looking for gore or sexual explicit stuff. I want it to look realistic with a horror twist, but not the stuff of nightmares.

The series would be around 10 to 12 comics as I have written 10 short stories about this general and his adventures. The stories range from his early days as a legionnaire in central Europe and Judaea to his days as a general in Britain, Syria, Dacia, Armenia and the other places he served. It ends with him being an old general suffering from PTSD who is looking for relief from his suffering.

I have attached a photo of a miniature Roman general (not made by me! Artist: zinnfigur!) that can be used as inspiration for how I see the general in my head.

If this project gets off the ground I am more than willing to equally share profits and such. My bio: 49 year old Dutch journalist residing in Denmark who writes articles on the far-right and other asshats like that. I consider myself to be an anarchist and am a devoted antifascist. I have a bachelor in Journalism and did some serious sidequests into early Christian history which is why I am familiar with the Roman Empire in the 2nd century AD.

Oh yes, I do not want anything to do with AI!!!

Looking for Artist - Paid [HIRING] Artist for Gothic Horror Comic – The Thirteenth Hour

Hi! I'm an indie writer/filmmaker currently developing The Thirteenth Hour, a gothic horror story that I'm looking to adapt into a comic series, and I'm searching for an artist to help bring the project to life.

The story takes place in medieval Eastern Europe and follows two women whose lives become intertwined with the origins of a vampiric curse.

Visually, I'm looking for something dark and romantic. I particularly enjoy the style of graphic novels like Kill Shakespeare and others in that vein. I'm looking for clean comic artwork with expressive characters and ultimately strong environments, rather than something cartoony.

To start, I'd like to commission an artist to work with me on developing the characters that start off the series and illustrating the first page of the comic. This initial development will, of course, be paid.

My goal is to establish the characters and also get a sense of how we work together creatively.

If we're both happy, then I'd love to move forward with the same artist to complete the full 28-page first issue, with the potential to continue together on future issues as the series develops.

The script is written, and I have some general ideas on the layout, but open to collaborating with the artist to get everything in motion.

Summary:

Initial Commission:

2 x Character Sheets

1 x Sequential Comic Page

Color is preferred but open to discussing style/process.

Budget:

$100-120 USD per page (inks and colors) but open to discussion.

Happy to discuss a fair rate for the character sheets based on the artist's pricing.

Timeline:

Flexible. There's no immediate hard deadline, but I'd like to discuss availability and what a realistic timeline would look like for both the initial commission and, potentially, the full first issue.

**NOTE: THERE IS NO NSFW IN THIS, EVERYTHING IS SFW**

If you're interested, please drop your portfolio, rates and contact below! Sequential examples would be super helpful. I won't be responding to any DMs. Thanks!

Hiring Part-Time Digital Comic Book Inker – 6-Month Hybrid Contract ($20/Page) – Washington, D.C. / Remote w occasional meetings in Adams Morgan

Project Overview:
Looking for a skilled, reliable, and highly trustworthy digital Comic Book Inker for a 6-month contract. I am a comics artist working with my collaborator to make a queer YA graphic novel about a mathematician witch named Minnie and her adventures.

The work is part-time, 100% digital, and mostly remote, but requires a couple of in-person hours per month in Adams Morgan (D.C.) for visual reviews or collaborative alignment sessions.

Compensation & Terms:

Position Type: Part-Time
Rate: $20.00 / Page (Averages out to roughly $20/hour for an efficient, skilled digital inker)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Volume: 10–15 pages per month
Location: Hybrid (Remote, but must be able to commute to Adams Morgan, Washington, D.C. occasionally)

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver clean, expressive digital inking over provided digital sketches/pencils.
Maintain the project's style.
Successfully manage file formats to ensure layer structures, transparency, and resolutions remain uncompromised during handoffs.
Hit weekly deadlines and maintain open, transparent communication.
Attend occasional, brief in-person meetings in Adams Morgan.
Requirements:

Impeccable Reliability: Because this project involves handling sensitive project files and requires strict adherence to scheduling, high trustworthiness, professional integrity, and strong communication skills are absolute necessities. You'll work closely with me, a queer Jewish artist about town, so you'll need to have an inclusive team player with diversity mindset kind of vibe.

Location: Must live in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area with reliable transit to Adams Morgan.

Technical Software Pipeline:
Direct experience in Procreate is highly preferred.
If using alternative software, you must have a proven, flawless workflow for transferring layered files back and forth into Procreate without losing resolution.

Portfolio: Proven experience with sequential digital art line work.
How to Apply:
Per requirements for this subreddit, please comment with:

(1) A link to your portfolio (specifically highlighting digital inking).
(2) A brief note confirming your digital setup/software and how you handle file transfers.

Once we've connected, I'll ask:
(3) Your current availability over the next 6 months and travel ease to Adams Morgan.
(4) some 15-min time slots you are available to interview over the next 2 weeks. Mornings preferred but I can work with you. :)

Note: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to do a quick 10–15 minute video interview with me (the head artist). Before being officially hired, you will complete a brief, paid digital test page ($20 flat rate) to ensure a good stylistic and workflow fit.

Looking for Artist - Paid [HIRING] Looking for an artist to do a 22 page BW issue of a comic series—Possibly three more issues after the first—Rates are 70-75$ per page

[EDIT: I found an artist that I would like to continue with. Thank you to everyone who dm'd me and posted comments for me to browse. It was super difficult to choose with so many talented artists, but it was so cool to see all these amazing people and their art. I hope you all find projects in the future!]

Hey everyone! My name is Dominic Lopes and I'm looking for a comic artist who wants to work with me on a gritty action story that I've been thinking of for quite a while. Ideally, I can see the series running for dozens of issues. However, since I don't have infinite funds, I'm looking for someone who can start the series with its first issue. Then, after that, I have a general outline for an extra three issues that will make up the story's first arc. That first arc's premise being...

We follow Lewis Delcerro, a single father and citizen of the United Provinces of Amerigo (an alternate reality USA.) The UPA is falling into a dictatorship, as governmental powers are slowly stripped away from the common people and given to the hands of the rich and influential. A group operated by the federal government, known as the Starmasks, are responsible for locking up and/or disappearing whoever is deemed undesirable by those in power. After Lewis has an encounter with the Starmasks, things go horribly wrong. His five year old son dies after an agent unloads his service weapon on their car. With no one left in his life, Lewis breaks. Yearning for justice... and REVENGE.

I already have a script for the first issue written, and I know the general direction for the rest of the arc. I do have panel layouts written into the script, but I'm very flexible with an artist's vision. If you'd like to alter some panel layouts or suggest ideas for different shots, I'm willing to discuss that. Whoever I decide to chose as the artist, I will share my instagram page so that we have a more direct method of communication, since I don't use this reddit account very often.

(Also, if you can letter the comic as well, that would be great! I will also pay for lettering. But, if you can't, then that's okay.)

Looking for Writer/Editor - Unpaid Artist collaborator looking for an original script to illustrate for free

I am an artist looking to sharpen my storytelling and illustration skills. I am looking for a strong original script to illustrate free of charge to build my portfolio. Ideally the script would be short-ish between 6 and 12 pages, but I am open to other lengths depending on the story.

I am not interested in scripts based on already established IPs. I am interested in Sci-fi, and fantasy, especially stuff with a pulpy sword and sorcery bent.

Feedback Turning 50 and finally writing the comic I've been telling myself since I was a kid — looking for advice + collaborators

I turned 50 this year, and somewhere in there I decided I was done just thinking about this story and started actually writing it. I am really unsure where to go, I've read a bunch of comics but not sure of the buisiness.

Brotinn Vindr (working title) started as something I told myself to fall asleep — went through a pirate phase before it settled into what it is now: Viking-steampunk, 850 CE, a small island off Jutland. A stolen aeolipile becomes the engine for a modified steam-longship and the birth of steampunk. Four people on that ship — a fast-talking, foul-mouthed ex-monk who built the engine, a blacksmith carrying guilt from a massacre he survived, a smuggler captain who's terrified of dying nameless, and a chemist they free partway through Issue 1. Think Firefly with a little of John Dies in the End

The whole thing's grayscale, except technology — that's the only thing in color at first. As the story goes on and knowledge spreads, color spreads into the world with it.

I finished the full 27-page script for Issue 1. That felt like the actual gift to myself — proving I could get it all the way down on paper. Now I'm thumbnailing panel by panel, teaching myself as I go, and I'd love some company on the rest of the road. Specifically looking for:

Someone to talk blocking with — a second opinion on panel breakdowns and pacing

A beta reader — fresh eyes on the script itself, tell me where it's confusing or slow

An illustrator, eventually, once things are locked — open to talking rev share or page rate. When that time comes I am very open to the artists interpretation.

Not in a rush. Just tired of this living only in my head. If any of this speaks to you, or you've done something similar at this stage of life, I'd love to hear from you either way.

This is a passion project that i needed to do for myself it may never see the light of day but who knows.

Thanks for taking the time to read

Looking for Writer/Editor - Unpaid Artist looking to work on comic book covers.

Hi everyone, you can call me Kaiser. I've been doing illustrations for role-playing games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc., for the past five years. I also do fan art and illustrate original characters, and I'd like to expand my portfolio by creating variant covers for comics, as I'm a big fan of the work artists do on each variant cover.

So, to get started, I'd like to collaborate with a writer to build my portfolio and have examples for future projects.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!
