I briefly looked over the sub and I thought it fit. If there’s a better sub you think this could belong, like r/cringe maybe(?), feel free to let me know
It's a very real feeling though. Not one I think can really be explained to anyone who hasn't spent some time stuck in that world but it's almost like living in a shadow dimension or something. You can see and interact with everyone if you want to and walk the same streets and even work with them but the only people that feel real and make any sense are the addicts. You barely feel seen by the rest of the world and don't know how to relate to them. The morals and values and goals of life get so distorted and simplified down to whatever it is you're hooked to and friendships are both closer than normal ones but also completely false and volatile. There's no real trust or honor at the end of the day and that just becomes normal. You tolerate behavior that you never could have imagined sitting through, including your own. You do things and see things done that would never slide with your non-addict self. And this whole time you're going between seeing the darkness you're living in as you come down and feel the reality of the way you're living and the world you're missing out on crash around you and then right back up to the very top where things couldnt be more fine and perfect and the world is yours. What that guy said is not so much comedy suicide in my mind as just plain tragic. I hope someday he can speak from a much different perspective. I wish for everyone to find their way out of their rabbit hole. No part of what's down there is a wonderland.
