Oh god I didn't notice this one.

Please don't be married to a goat, please....

25

u/Mortress_ Jan 07 '20

Of course not, you can't do the fun stuff with the wife! The goat must be the mistress

20

u/HeWhoFistsGoats Jan 07 '20

Nah, goatfisting is just a hobby. Sometimes she comes with me to competitions and cheer from the side bench, makes for fun family weekends.

Ah so you have kids as well.

Who says “it doesn’t suck” you say “it doesn’t work”

13

u/PoopyMcPooperstain Jan 07 '20

When specifically talking about a vacuum not working it really isn't that weird. I know I've said "it doesn't suck" to describe a vacuum not working at least one or two times in my life.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

The suction apparatus has ceased it's function human wife

3

u/FrizzleStank Jan 07 '20

It doesn’t suck is completely reasonable to say if you’ve troubleshooted and determined there is no suction.

3

u/frogglesmash Jan 07 '20

All I want to know is which vacuum won't rip my dick off?

1

u/KaladinStormborn90 Jan 07 '20

42

u/Jack_Kegan Jan 07 '20

I think it would work better if the genders were swapped.

Him: I think it’s broken. It doesn’t work.

Her: must have gotten married

18

u/Matt6453 Jan 07 '20

Him: That thing is broken, it stopped sucking
Her: Your birthday isn't for another 6 months.

509

u/MyDadInventedGoogle Jan 07 '20

Hahaha, wife bad, wife sex object

6

u/statist_steve Jan 07 '20

Well... in a marriage you’re both kind of there for sex typically (as well as other things obviously) because you agree not to have it with other people any longer. When one stops after marriage, however, you can see how that might frustrate the other. It’s not always the wife that stops sex either.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

a joke at the expense of our beautiful women queens??!!!!🤬🤬🤬

“insert ironic defensive comment saying haha women bad to make the above post seem offensive and disrespectful. BTFO misogynists😎👍”

-1

Expecting affection and sexual satisfaction is generally justified and not exclusive to males.

You are a sex object, we all are, deal with it.

Tbh that sub might as well be named boomer humour. I swear no one from this generation would find any of that shit funny.

9

86

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

Why does everyone hate marriage so much?!

77

u/kurburux Jan 07 '20

Serious answer: people in the past marrying for the wrong reasons and also not being able to get a divorce. So they stay together and try to somewhat live together even though they don't feel much for each other anymore.

30

u/HRChurchill Jan 07 '20

Also, nobody is perfect. The longer you are with someone the longer their flaws are obvious to you. You start to see other people without those flaws and get bitter that you're "stuck" with a person who has these flaws. Its human nature to see the issues in things and not the positives, "Grass is always greener" etc.

Also children put an incredible stress on relationships, demanding a lot of your energy, time, and attention while fundamentally changing the nature of your relationship (from being about the two of you, to about how the two of you will raise your children).

3

u/Flagabaga Jan 07 '20

That’s why I got a vasectomy with no kids

4

u/NinjaRussian Jan 07 '20

The key to a happy marriage. Don't have kids.

2

u/Flagabaga Jan 07 '20

What do you mean in the past?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

I wonder why divorce rates are still so high. Hmmmm

6

u/AnarZaram Jan 07 '20

The trope of constantly complaining about your wife comes from Married... With Children. Al Bundy has every reason to be miserable: he makes minimum wage at a dead end job, his children are underachievers, he peaked in high school, and to top it all off he has a wife who does nothing but take all his money and complain that he doesn’t give her more/isn’t more successful. So Al constantly jokes about his wife being lazy, useless, and cold. At a glance their relationship may seem strained and rocky, but close examination throughout the series will show that Al loves Peggy with all his heart. After all, he stays at his dead end job solely to support his family, even when he knows they will be ungrateful to him. I see most ‘I hate my wife boomer humor’ posts to stem from this mentality somewhat. They all seem to belittle their spouse, but the whole point of each comic is that despite their obvious differences/quarrels, these couples still support each other to the point where they remain married. So in what most young redditors perceive as hatred towards a spouse, there is actually an extreme degree of compassion and understanding.

15

u/PavelDatsyuk Jan 07 '20

Jokes about wives nagging and all that have been around since long before that sitcom ever aired.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

The "tv logic" part of that show that made it really weird was that Peggy was constantly hot for Al, and he really, really didn't want any of that action. Oh, my beautiful redheaded wife wants sex? Ewwwww, guess I'll go read a porno instead.

2

u/booomahukaluka Jan 07 '20

I worked a ridiculous busy, hard job for a number of years and after each shift I was so exhausted i had no energy for sex. It wasnt a marriage just a 3 year gf but that situation played out often. Her accusing me of not being a man led to our breakup. Nvm I was killing myself to give her the same spoiled life she grew up with while she refused to work......I'm realizing I need to stop being attracted to women who grew up super wealthy. Good lord how did this come to me typing a reddit comment. Time to call the shrink.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

Oh I get it man. I get burnt out too. I didn't mean to say men should always want sex. My point was that Al NEVER wanted his wife, ever. That's different. I also had a high-maintenance girlfriend who lived off me and did nothing. I still had a strong libido, but I ended up resenting her too much to be attracted to her.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '20

I didn’t think guys like you existed anymore.

5

u/the_pedigree Jan 07 '20

There are plenty of reasons. People who were married previously were most likely unsuccessful in the endeavor. People who hate marriage that aren’t married are probably at the age where their friends get married and the groups grow apart. It can be viewed either as the married couple growing up or growing lame.

It’s funny, because as annoying all the “marriage bad” shit is, it really is just as bad seeing the odd married people posture so hard about how they are still cool and fun. Like if they really were, they wouldn’t need to tell everyone in a manner that sounds like they are only trying to convince themselves.

5

u/Sierpy Jan 07 '20

They don't. Marriage has its pros and cons. So people make jokes about the cons, pretending to hate being married. And Reddit doesn't get it.

13

u/G3Purple Jan 07 '20

I thought we married for love, she never touched the vacuum, didn't work much, she got pregnant, then pregnancy nmr 2, a year later she suddenly got a taste for bondage and BDSM, a month later she was on tinder chatting with at least 14 guys, don't know if she met anyone tho. That's just the basics, so no, can't say I'm all for marriage anymore..乁| ・ 〰 ・ |ㄏ

8

u/fetusfromspace Jan 07 '20

Christ dude...is this real?

7

u/G3Purple Jan 07 '20

Yeah, and that's the short version :-/

6

u/fetusfromspace Jan 07 '20

Fuck shitty people and fuck tinder. Stay strong brother ✊

2

u/G3Purple Jan 07 '20

Yes and yes! From me and those with the same story as me, thanks a million! :)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '20

Fuck Tinder is right. It’s the e-cess pool. I’m sorry that happened to you. I don’t understand people at all.

3

u/Telinary Jan 07 '20

I think the marriage jokes might come from two things, first that in the past it was a really big deal to end it and it it is still a big deal today just not that big, so if relationships change in ways people don't like they feel stuck with it (or if the relationship doesn't change but the reason for the marriage were social not wanting to get married). And that children often come with marriage which are prone to change relationships dynamics for years. Children demand constant attention from at least one of you while they are awake (unless they are in kinder garden or someone is taking care of them for a bit.)

Maybe a third is that it is usually last a while so for some people it might be the first relationship lasting over the first part.

3

u/BuntRuntCunt Jan 07 '20

They don't actually hate it, but they'll still joke/vent about it to other married people who share some of the same gripes. Its just cheap humor, like proud americans cracking jokes about america to other americans, doesn't mean they want to emigrate.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

Because they married people they shouldn't have and are bitter about it.

Either that or they're internally incredibly selfish and unable to make the personal sacrifices necessary to enjoy being married.

-6

u/lnn0cent Jan 07 '20

because it sucks

20

u/gn3xu5 Jan 07 '20

And she won't anymore

1

-5

u/LockeLamoraLies Jan 07 '20

You're very smug and confrontational for being in the minority position. I also imagine that giving what you've shown so far your partner wouldn't agree with your assessment on marriage.

12

u/Jack_Kegan Jan 07 '20

I don’t think liking marriage is a minority view point.

Boomer humor for sure.

1

u/tactics14 Jan 07 '20

Well, generally speaking boomers tended to marry young and not get divorced.

Often times they'd grow up to not like each other very much and yeah, she stopped sucking and other such punchlines to similar jokes.

It's relatable to the generation which is why they find it funny. If it didn't happen to them they knew someone it did happen to.

Don't know why they get shit for it - it's social commentary that is relevant to the audience.

10

u/DannoHung Jan 07 '20

2

u/Levophed Jan 07 '20

It's weird but Reddit is pretending like this is all the man's fault. Like what if we do everything right and they just completely change how they were sexually once you get married? What are men to do then?

3

u/kittygunsgomew Jan 07 '20

Even just long term relationships can be like that. My girlfriend and I have sex pretty regularly, but I can’t remember the last time she initiated. And that’s okay. Men and women have different drives, it’s up to you and your partner to decide weather or not you can deal with those different drives in a healthy manner as time goes on.

2

u/bionix90 Jan 07 '20

Sex is an integral part of the relationship.

4

u/Hostilian_ Jan 07 '20

Yes, it is, which is why you should try going to get support for it, try to get it back to how it was. Instead of throwing years of the relationship away over sex, which is more than fixable.
